Notícia boa / Good news

Notícia boa
Leitura bíblica:
_______________

(HSG)

Good news
Bible reading:
_______________
As fresh water for the thirsty throat is the good news that comes from a distant land ( Proverbs 25.25).
_______________
We are eager for information. It is not enough to hear the news of the day before, we want to know what happened at the last second.
We seek information in newspapers, on the internet and on social networks, and yet we feel uninformed. But mostly, we see only bad news: assaults, accidents, domestic violence. We also found frivolous news about celebrities, consumerist propaganda, etc.
Meanwhile, the Gospel, which is the good news, is sometimes forgotten. Its importance lies in the background, is not disclosed. You know what is the good news that the Bible teaches us?
Follow the main headlines of the Bible. See the scary news of Romans 3.23 – all humans are sinners, "for all have sinned and are deprived of the glory of God". See also how God gave the solution to this problem of humanity in the news which is recorded in John 3.16: "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him will not perish, but have everlasting life". We also found recorded in John 1.12 the news that you can become a child of God: "to those who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God".
As we can see, the Bible is not a heap of bad news that bring us concerns, anxiety and fear. On the contrary, in the word of God we find life and peace. Good news of great joy.
The big news of the Bible is that in Jesus we have salvation and eternal life. You need to know that salvation goes far beyond forgiveness of our sins. The same God who has saved us is what we are called to a new life of Holiness. "God didn't call us to impurity but to holiness" (1 Thessalonians 4.7).
Share this news with others. Blessed is the one that is used by God as his Messenger. (HSG)

Aflições / Afflictions

Aflições
Leitura bíblica:
_______________
Neste mundo vocês terão aflições; contudo, tenham ânimo! Eu venci o mundo (João 16.33 b).
_______________

Afflictions
Bible reading:
_______________
In this world you will have tribulations; However, they cheer! I have overcome the world (John 16.33 b).
_______________
A few years ago I was in a meeting with some Christians of Blumenau, Santa Catarina. It was a joyful meeting, because we had in mind a groundbreaking work in the community, aimed at taking the Christian literature closer to the general public. Suddenly, the phone of one of the participants of the meeting touched. She withdrew and after a few minutes returned with a sad countenance. I told the husband that she needed to go away to another city because it had just received the news that his parents had been victims of a robbery. Burglars have broken into the House, took the family car and drove her mother, 72 years, in the back seat. Failed to get very far with the vehicle, because it caused an accident in which the Lady died. The thieves, virtually unscathed, fled on foot.
The next day, I went to the wake. Once there, a nagging question in my heart: "why, Sir?" It was then that I remembered the words of Jesus recorded in the verse highlighted. In the world we live in there are afflictions. They are real and are part of our daily life, although sometimes we seem so distant. All of a sudden, but we are surprised: in the blink of an eye, the difficulties the difficulties are there. Arise without warning in the life of each of us. Jesus didn't say "maybe you afflictions" – he was definite: nobody is free from adverse situations. Yes, it's a fact: at some point they will come. Then, in the rest of the text in the console. It's as if to say: "I want you guys to have the certainty that, come what may, I live. I'm present. I want to be the one that gives strength, consolation and support ".
As you face your problems – alone or with Christ? Surrender your life to him. Their difficulties and tribulations not disappear, but you will have the help of Jesus to live, in spite of them. (LSCH).
The presence of Jesus makes it possible to live also in the midst of the afflictions.

Primogênitos / Firstborn

Primogênitos
Leitura bíblica:
_______________

(RK)

Firstborn
Bible reading:
_______________
God demonstrates his love for us: Christ died in our favor when we were still sinners (Romans 5.8).
_______________
The text you just read shows the care and love that God has with his people. At first glance, seems to have only a portion of demands: "all the firstborn are mine!", says the Lord. However, it was a great and good news for those people. Until today, the birth of the first child (first son) of a couple is an exceptional occurrence, generally celebrated more than the following. In biblical times, it was even more important.
The firstborn was the successor of his father, the future boss and the pride of the family. Back then, most people do not know the living God-worshipping a portion of gods created by his imagination and of which often were afraid. So, maybe they were afraid that those deities could be jealous of the love and pride that first baby gave the parents, and then it was better just dedicate it to them. In many cases, came to accumulation of sacrifice that child (Yes, kill it!) to satisfy the false gods. The heir would then be the next child.
When God revealed himself to the Israelites, it also required that the first-born be dedicated entirely to him – not that I was jealous, but because I wanted to lead them a happy life and that only work if they remain subservient to divine guidance. Thus, God told them of how they understood: should devote the first child. At the same time, however, made it easy: they could stay with the firstborn and, in his place, an entire tribe of Israel (Levi) would be devoted to God to take care of their contact with the people. Much better for everyone.
Later, God has shown even more emphatically his love for all of us to – he Yes – deliver your son Jesus to die in our place. Good reason to submit our entire lives to it! (RK)
The relationship with the true God is not based on fear, but in love and in gratitude for all he did for us.
