Festa Leitura bíblica: Salmo 147.1-11 _________________ Louvem a Deus pelos seus feitos poderosos, louvem-no segundo a imensidão de sua grandeza (Salmo 150.2). _________________

O salmo proposto para hoje vem em ritmo de festa. Você começa a ler e parece ouvir a música tocando e as pessoas cantando e dançando em louvor a Deus pelo bem que ele faz. Seria tão bom se a nossa vida tivesse mais festa e menos funeral, não é? Mas a vida real é um composto de várias coisas boas e ruins, alegres e tristes. O mais importante é o modo como passamos cada um desses momentos. Há pessoas que, no meio da alegria, angustiam-se porque sabem que ela não durará para sempre – e deixam de curtir aqueles momentos felizes. E quando vem a tristeza, reclamam e sentem-se as piores do mundo, deixando de encarar a realidade daquele momento e de crescer com ele.

Deus é mostrado como quem cuida das feridas. Ele está presente no movimento da vida. E de maneira poética o salmo diz que ele chama cada estrela pelo seu nome! Dá para entender isso? Claro que não. E é por isso que é impossível medir o entendimento de Deus. Diante dele basta a contemplação, basta a exaltação, basta o louvor e o reconhecimento de que, sendo tão infinitamente maior, transcendente e diferente de nós, ele é ao mesmo tempo tão presente, próximo e semelhante, pois nos fez a partir de sua palavra e de sua vontade. Em meio a tanta grandeza, olha para o oprimido e o sustenta. E se ele cuida de desenhar no céu com as nuvens, de regar a terra com chuva e de prover alimento aos corvos famintos, não cuidará daqueles que a ele clamam? Não olhará para homens e mulheres criados à sua semelhança?!

Não há o que possamos fazer para agradar a Deus, a não ser nos abandonar ao seu cuidado e à sua incompreensível grandeza e proximidade, colocando naquele que chama cada estrela por seu nome a esperança de que também nos chame pelo nosso e nos atenda em seu amor leal! Isso é motivo para festejar, cantar e dançar, mesmo quando a música que a vida estiver tocando for uma balada triste. (WMJ)

 Se for difícil festejar agora, guarde a promessa de que “a esperança não nos decepciona” (Romanos 5.5)

Party Bible reading: Psalm 147.1-11 _________________ Praise God for his mighty deeds, praise-the second the immensity of his greatness (Psalm 150.2). _________________

The Psalm proposed for today comes in rhythm of celebration. You get to read and seems to hear the music playing and people singing and dancing in praise to God for the good that he does. It would be so nice if our lives had more party and less funeral, isn't it? But real life is a composite of a lot of things good and bad, happy and sad. The most important thing is how we spent each of those moments. There are people who, in the midst of joy, afflict yourself because you know she won't last forever – and no longer enjoy those happy moments. And when it comes to grief, complain and feel the worst in the world, failing to face reality that moment and grow with him.

God is shown as who takes care of the wounds. He is present in the movement of life. And poetic manner the Psalm says he calls each star by your name! Can you understand that? Of course not. And that is why it is impossible to measure the understanding of God. Before him it takes only contemplation, simply the exaltation, just praise and recognition that, being so infinitely greater, transcendent and unlike us, he is at once so present, next and the like, because it made us from his word and his will. Amid so much greatness, look for the underdog and the stands. And if he cares to draw in the sky with clouds, watering the Earth with rain and provide food to the hungry crows, not to take care of those who cry out to him? Don't look for men and women created in his likeness?!

There's nothing we can do to please God, but leave us in your care and your incomprehensible grandeur and proximity, putting in what calls each star by your name the hope that also call us by our and pick up on your loyal love! That's something to celebrate, singing and dancing, even when the music is touching lives is a sad ballad. (WMJ)

If it is difficult to celebrate now, keep the promise that "hope does not disappoint us" (Romans 5.5)

Uvas azedas / Sour grapes

Uvas azedas Leitura bíblica: Isaías 5.1-7 _________________ Deus fez os homens justos, mas eles foram em busca de muitas intrigas (Eclesiastes 7.29) _________________

O texto de hoje expressa o que é naturalmente esperado: após uma ação correta vem uma recompensa com algo bom. Seria o justo. Por que dar errado aquilo que fizemos tão certo? O personagem do texto não somente fez assim como criou expectativas. Ele escolheu um campo fértil, limpou o terreno, preparou a terra para o plantio de uvas da melhor qualidade, construiu uma torre para que a plantação fosse protegida e também um tanque de prensar uvas. Após todo seu empenho, esperava colher uma boa safra. Porém, para sua frustração, as frutas eram azedas e impróprias para o consumo.

Este texto diz respeito a uma comparação que Deus faz com a dedicação e amor que dispensou ao povo de Israel. Porém, em vez de exercer a justiça e a retidão, os israelitas provocaram morte e sofrimento (verso 7). Apesar de sua aliança com Deus, não somente desobedeceram as leis divinas como se afastaram do Senhor.

Assim tem sido desde a fundação do mundo. Com amor, Deus preparou tudo e criou o homem para habitar a terra, dominar a criação e desfrutar dela, glorificando seu Criador. Porém, o que vemos até hoje é ingratidão, destruição e falta de amor. O homem não tem correspondido à expectativa divina nem exercido justiça, mas busca algo bem diferente longe de Deus. Com rebeldia, a maioria segue a direção oposta ao caminho divino, esquecendo que com isto promove sua própria destruição.

Ainda assim, Deus tem lutado para anular esta distância e restaurar seu relacionamento com sua criatura. Para isso, entregou a vida de seu próprio Filho, Jesus. Deus deu todas as condições ao ser humano para que este o glorifique e tenha vida plena e eterna com ele. Mas para isso é preciso entregar a vida a Cristo, deixando que ele a dirija. Somente assim alguém poderá produzir “uvas boas”: atitudes, sentimentos e pensamentos que agradem ao Senhor (veja Gálatas 5.22-23). (LFS)

Sour grapes Bible reading: Isaiah 5.1-7 _________________ God made men righteous, but they were in search of many intrigues (Ecclesiastes 7.29) _________________

The text for today expressed what is naturally expected: after a right action comes a reward with a good thing. It would be fair. Why go wrong what we did so right? The character of the text not only did as well as created expectations. He chose a fertile field, cleaned the ground, prepared the soil for planting of grapes from the best quality, built a tower to which the plantation was protected and also a tank of pressing grapes. After all your effort, expected to harvest a good crop. However, to his frustration, the berries were sour and unfit for consumption.

This text concerns a comparison that God makes with the dedication and love that dispensed to the people of Israel. However, instead of exercising justice and righteousness, the Israelis have caused death and suffering (verse 7). Despite its alliance with God, not only disobeyed the divine laws as drifted away from the Lord.

So it has been since the Foundation of the world. With love, God prepared everything and created man to inhabit the Earth, dominate the creation and enjoy her, glorifying its creator. However, what we see today is ingratitude, destruction and lack of love. The man has not matched the expectations nor exercised divine justice, but looking for something quite different away from God. With rebellion, the majority follows the opposite direction to the divine path, forgetting that it promotes its own destruction.

Still, God has fought to overturn this distance and restore his relationship with his creature. For this, he gave life to his own son, Jesus. God has given all conditions for the human being to the praise and has full and eternal life with him. But for this it is necessary to give your life to Christ, letting him drive. Only in this way can produce "good grape": attitudes, feelings and thoughts that will appeal to the Lord (see Galatians 5.22-23). (LFS)

Sofrimento / Suffering

Sofrimento Leitura bíblica: João 9.1-7 _________________ ...isto aconteceu para que a obra de Deus se manifestasse na vida dele (João 9.3b). _________________

Um dos temas que mais afeta o ser humano é o sofrimento. Muitas religiões e filosofias tentam solucionar esse problema, mas nenhuma o faz de modo totalmente satisfatório. Muitas vezes, o primeiro impulso de quem olha de fora é procurar a culpa na pessoa que sofre. E o primeiro impulso do sofredor é pensar: “Por que eu? Não fiz nada para merecer isso...” Nós humanos alimentamos o orgulho de sermos melhores que os outros. Se alguém que julgo ser pior que eu não sofre, então o sofrimento que me atinge passa a ser uma injustiça. Esse orgulho é que nos leva a procurar um culpado pelo sofrimento. É por isso que os discípulos simplesmente partiram do princípio de que haveria uma explicação “lógica” de causa e efeito para o sofrimento do cego: alguém desagradou a Deus (o cego ou então seus pais) e a cegueira é a punição para isso.

Mas a resposta de Jesus inverte a perspectiva. Em vez de se concentrar no passado (“por quê?”), ele dirige o olhar para o futuro (“para quê”?). Com isso, ele diz que a situação atual não é o fim da história. Deus não está castigando um erro, mas está criando uma obra nova. No caso do cego, era a sua oportunidade de encontrar Jesus e reconhecê-lo como o Cristo enviado por Deus (veros 35-38). Na verdade, todas as pessoas que viram essa cura tiveram essa mesma chance, mas nem todas quiseram – basta ler o restante do capítulo para ver a reação dos líderes religiosos, por exemplo.

Nem sempre o sofrimento é algo lógico. Mas ele será sempre uma oportunidade de ver a manifestação do poder de Deus – pode ser por meio da cura ou então da paz de coração com que a pessoa consegue enfrentar a dificuldade. Quando tenho disposição para tentar esta abordagem diante da dor, posso ficar surpreso com os resultados. Meu sofrimento, comparado com as bênçãos recebidas, diminui de tamanho, e passa a ser também motivo de gratidão. (MJT)

Só Deus pode dar sentido ao nosso sofrimento.

Suffering Bible reading: John 9.1-7 _________________ ...This happened so that the work of God manifested in his life (John 9.3b). _________________

One of the themes that more affects the human being is suffering. Many religions and philosophies try to solve this problem, but none does so entirely satisfactory. Often, the first impulse of who look out is to look for the fault of the person who suffers. And the sufferer's first impulse is to think: ' Why me? I haven't done anything to deserve this. " We humans feed the pride of being better than others. If someone who seems to be worse than I did not suffer, then the suffering that hits me is an injustice. That pride is what leads us to look for someone to blame for the suffering. That's why the disciples simply assumed that there would be a "logical" explanation of cause and effect for the suffering of the blind: someone displeased the God (the blind or your parents) and blindness is a punishment for it.

But the reply of Jesus reverses the perspective. Instead of focusing on past ("why?"), he drives the look to the future ("for what"?). With that, he says that the current situation is not the end of the story. God is not punishing a mistake, but is creating a new work. In the case of the blind, was his opportunity to meet Jesus and recognize him as the Christ sent by God (see 35-38). In fact, all the people who saw this cure had that same chance, but not all of them wanted – just read the rest of the chapter to see the reaction from religious leaders, for example.

Suffering is not always something logical. But he will always be an opportunity to see the manifestation of the power of God – can be through cure or so the peace of heart with the person manages to face the difficulty. Dificuldades do piedoso / Difficulties of the pious

Dificuldades do piedoso Leitura bíblica: 2 Timóteo 3.10-17 _________________ Todos os que desejam viver piedosamente em Cristo Jesus serão perseguidos (2 Timóteo 3.12). _________________

Hoje em dia existe a ideia de que crer e confiar em Deus imuniza contra dificuldades e problemas. Contudo, quando estudamos seriamente a Bíblia, não é isso que ela nos ensina. Homens piedosos e tementes a Deus passaram por dificuldades e aflições. Essa foi a experiência do apóstolo Paulo, que ele mesmo testifica a Timóteo na passagem bíblica que você acabou de ler.

O rei e salmista Davi também escreveu: “Mesmo quando eu andar por um vale de trevas e morte, não temerei perigo algum, pois tu estás comigo; a tua vara e o teu cajado me protegem” (Salmo 23.4). Isto significa que Davi reconheceu a possibilidade de andar pelo vale da sombra da morte, mas também sabia que mesmo assim podia contar com Deus e sua proteção e cuidado.

Lembremo-nos também das palavras do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que disse acerca das dificuldades e das aflições: “Aproxima-se a hora, e já chegou, quando vocês serão espalhados, cada um para sua casa. Vocês me deixarão sozinho. Mas não estou sozinho, pois meu Pai está comigo. Eu lhes disse estas coisas para que em mim vocês tenham paz. Neste mundo vocês terão aflições; contudo, tenham ânimo! Eu venci o mundo” (João 16.32-33).

Como a verdade da Bíblia é bem diferente do que muitos andam afirmando por aí! Diante disso, não fique surpreso com as dificuldades e os sofrimentos que possam advir na sua vida. Uma coisa é certa: em meio às adversidades e as dificuldades da vida, o consolo é que podemos contar com a presença do Deus Todo-Poderoso.

Portanto, confie em Deus mesmo em meio às maiores dificuldades. Você pode contar com o seu auxílio e proteção. (MM)

Difficulties of the pious Bible reading: 2 Timothy 3.10-17 _________________ All those who wish to live piously in Christ Jesus will be persecuted (2 Timothy 3.12). _________________

Nowadays there is the idea that believe and trust God immunizes against difficulties and problems. However, when we study the Bible seriously, isn't that what it teaches us. Pious and God fearing men have gone through difficulties and tribulations. This was the experience of the Apostle Paul, who himself testifies to Timothy in the Bible passage you just read.

The King and psalmist David also wrote: "even when I walk through the Valley of darkness and death, I will fear any danger, for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff protect me "(Psalm 23.4). This means that David recognized the possibility to walk through the Valley of the shadow of death, but also knew that anyway could count on God and his protection and care.

Let us remember also the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, who said about the hardships and woes: "the hour is coming, and has already come, when you will be scattered, every man to his house. You let me alone. But I am not alone, because my father is with me. I told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have tribulations; However, they cheer! I have conquered the world "(John 16.32-33).

As the truth of the Bible is quite different than many are stating out there! Given this, don't be surprised with the hardships and sufferings that may arise in your life. One thing is certain: amidst the adversities and difficulties of life, the consolation is that we can count on the presence of God Almighty.

Therefore, trust God even in the midst of the greatest difficulties. You can count on your assistance and protection. (MM)

God has a purpose in every situation; believe in the faithfulness of God.

Lugares e tempos / Places and times

Lugares e tempos Leitura bíblica: Lucas 16.19-31 _________________ Bem-aventurados os pobres em espírito, pois deles é o Reino dos Céus (Mateus 5.3). _________________

A parábola do rico e de Lázaro tem, na minha opinião, muito a ver com a primeira bem-aventurança, reproduzida no versículo em destaque. Tudo indica que se trata de uma metáfora, embora haja nela muita realidade que só Cristo conhecia. Aprendemos nesta narrativa preciosas lições sobre tempos e lugares. O lugar da oração, por exemplo, é aqui na terra. É aqui que temos tentações, sonhos, ambições, desafios. É aqui que nos relacionamos com Deus, com nosso próximo, e, pasmem, também com a nossa alma. Assim, Davi dizia à sua alma: “Por que você está assim tão triste, ó minha alma? Ponha sua esperança em Deus, pois ainda o louvarei” (Salmo 42.5). É aqui que precisamos de oração. Na eternidade, o tempo, a oportunidade, a necessidade, tudo já passou.

O céu é um lugar de louvor. De adoração plena, integral, sincera. É também o lugar de comunhão completa com Deus, com os irmãos, com os anjos. É o lugar da plenitude em todos os sentidos. Lá não precisaremos de oração, pois de nada teremos falta. Lá só desfrutaremos nossa gloriosa herança. E o inferno? É o lugar do quê? De oração? Não. Quem nele estiver não tem mais chance. Quem chega ao inferno anulou o poder da cruz por ter rejeitado o sacrifício de Cristo. Aquele que na terra rejeitou a cruz, dela não poderá mais valer-se.

Oração no inferno é oração atrasada. É arrependimento tardio. Lá é lugar de sofrimento, tão-somente. Vamos aproveitar, enquanto temos oportunidade, os lugares e tempos que Deus estabeleceu. Aproveitemos as boas oportunidades, pois lugares e tempos passarão e jamais voltarão. (MJT)

Places and times Bible reading: Luke 16.19-31 _________________ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 5.3). _________________

The parable of the rich and Lazarus has, in my opinion, a lot to do with the first beatitude, reproduced in the verse highlighted. Everything indicates that this is a metaphor, although her much reality that only Christ knew. We learn in this narrative precious lessons about times and places. The place of prayer, for example, is here on Earth. This is where we have temptations, dreams, ambitions, challenges. This is where we connect with God, with our next, and, amazingly, also with our soul. Thus David said to his soul: "why are you so sad, o my soul? Put your hope in God, because even the praise him "(Psalm 42.5). This is where we need prayer. In eternity, time, opportunity, the need, everything has passed.

Heaven is a place of praise. Of worship full, integral, honest. Is also place of full communion with God, with the brothers, with the angels. Is the place of fullness in every way. There's no need of prayer, because nothing we lack. Just enjoy our glorious heritage. And hell? Is the place of? Of prayer? Don't. Who it is has no more chance. Who gets to hell annulled the power of the cross for having rejected the sacrifice of Christ. Who on Earth rejected the cross, it can no longer avail himself.

Prayer in hell prayer is delayed. Late repentance is. There is place of suffering, only. Let's enjoy it while we have the opportunity, the places and times that God established. Let us seize the good opportunities because places and times will never come back. (MJT)

"Seek the Lord while you can find him, comes to claim him while he is near" (Isaiah 55.6).

Temor a Deus / Fear of God

Temor a Deus Leitura bíblica: Atos 5.1-11 _________________ Não há temor de Deus diante de seus olhos (Romanos 3.18). _________________

Na leitura de hoje, o livro de Atos dos Apóstolos apresenta a história de Ananias e Safira. A Igreja do primeiro século estava em franco crescimento, a comunhão era notória e aqueles primeiros cristãos contribuíam voluntariamente para o bem comum. O texto bíblico diz que não havia nenhum necessitado. Um cristão de nome Barnabé fez uma doação para a igreja como gesto de sua generosidade. Ananias e Safira também tinham uma propriedade, e então os dois combinaram que a venderiam por um preço e doariam um valor inferior para a Igreja, só que disseram aos apóstolos que estavam doando o valor todo da venda da propriedade. O erro deles foi a mentira. O que aconteceu com eles? Morreram aos pés dos apóstolos. Eles não haviam mentido apenas aos apóstolos, mas a Deus.

A Bíblia diz que o diabo é o pai da mentira e Deus não compactua com ela, pois ele é verdadeiro.

Com a morte de Ananias e Safira houve temor em toda a igreja - eles reconheceram que com Deus não se brinca.

Esse temor de Deus tem feito muita falta. As pessoas muitas vezes não levam a sério a vida cristã. Se Deus é santo, nós como seus filhos devemos ser santos também e viver uma vida diferenciada dos que não temem a Deus. É inadmissível que filhos de Deus mintam, falem mal de outros, enganem, adulterem, cobicem.

É grave quando pessoas que deveriam fazer a diferença envergonham o evangelho de Cristo. Quando tememos a Deus andamos na luz como seus filhos, buscamos uma vida submissa a ele e de acordo com os seus padrões. Quem teme a Deus faz o que agrada a ele, tem prazer na lei do Senhor e nela medita dia e noite (Salmo 1.2). Quem teme a Deus perdoa, busca a paz, vive em função do outro, deixa de ser egoísta. Infelizmente o temor de Deus anda escasso e por isso presenciamos tantas incoerências entre o que se fala e o que se vive. A nossa oração e desejo é que o povo que se chama cristão tema a Deus. Quem não teme a Deus tem tudo o mais a temer.

Fear of God Bible reading: 5.1 Acts-11 _________________ There is no fear of God before their eyes (Romans 3.18). _________________

In today's reading, the book of acts of the Apostles presents the story of Ananias and Sapphira. The Church of the first century was growing, the communion was notorious and those first Christians contributed voluntarily to the common good. The biblical text says that there was no need. A Christian named Barnabas made a donation to the Church as a gesture of generosity. Ananias and Sapphira also had a property, and so the two combined that would sell for a price and donate a lower value for the Church, only told the Apostles who were donating the entire value of the sale of the property. Their mistake was to lie. What happened to them? Died at the feet of the Apostles. They had not lied only to the Apostles, but to God.

The Bible says that the devil is the father of lies and God not condoning it, because it is true.

With the death of Ananias and Sapphira there was fear in the entire Church-they recognised that with God not to be trifled with.

This fear of God has done so much. People often do not take seriously the Christian life. If God is holy, we as his children we must be holy as well and live a life of differentiated they are not afraid to God. It is unacceptable that children of God lied, speak badly of others, make no mistake, adulterate, covet.

Is serious when people who should make a difference I'm embarrassed by the Gospel of Christ. When we fear God we walk in the light as his children, we seek a life submissive to him and according to your standards. Who fears God does what he pleases, he takes pleasure in the law of the Lord and meditates day and night (Psalm 1.2). Who fears God forgives, seeks peace, lives in another function, stop being selfish. Unfortunately the fear of God is scarce and witnessed so many inconsistencies between what is spoken and what lives. Our prayer and hope is that the people who calls himself a Christian theme to God. Those who do not fear God has everything to fear.
