Tudo novo / All new

Tudo novo

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things have passed away; Behold, new things have emerged. (2 Corinthians . 5.17)

The story of a man in South Africa illustrates well the transformation that Christ operates in humans. During a cult, he gave his life to Christ when he realized that the Son of God died in his place. The transformation of this man was so real that his first action was to look for the owner of a watch he had stolen eight years ago, to return it. When the robbery victim asked what was the reason for return, the man replied: "I gave my life to Jesus last night. Not only gave the clock at the same time because there was no way to come here. "
This is what happens when Christ becomes part of one's life; the transformation is deep and full. Is what we call "conversion", which means a change of mind. The values of the person become others. That man might use a stolen watch for eight years without bothering with this. However, when he met Christ, was so impacted that had to return it immediately, not fearing shame and consequences. When we commit our lives to Christ, he becomes our new owner (before, we were slaves to Sin). It's like when a company is sold, the new owner has new values, new emphases, new way of working and to relate to employees, suppliers and customers. There is simply no comparison between the before and the after. Jesus calls this shift of new birth (John 3.3). It's not a change of religion or accept a list of rules: is a transformation that comes from the inside out and changes everything. No person can operate it yourself. It's not human, it's divine. For that to happen, just surrender to Christ, humble in the presence of God, recognize that has disobeyed and displeased him and ask for his forgiveness, starting a new relationship with God. And you've been born again?

There's no way to remain the same after he met Jesus. All change-for the better!

A friend had to go to the airport. Took a cab and put themselves on the way. The day was nice and the traffic flowed smoothly. Were almost there when suddenly a van emerged ahead. The taxi driver stopped short, but managed to get rid of an accident, it would have been bad. The driver of the other vehicle shook hands in obscene gestures and even shouted profanity. The taxi driver just smiled and waved to the individual. There was no hatred or aggression in their gestures.
Then, not satisfied, my friend asked him: "why did you do that? That man almost causes a serious accident and went to the hospital, and you just simply do a wave of friendship? What's that? "
That's when the driver taught her what he now calls Law of the garbage truck. He explained: "many people are like garbage trucks. There are loaded from the ' trash ' of frustration, anger, hatred, revenge and malice. And as your garbage packages increase, they need a place to put it, and sometimes they want to unload on us. What I did was just smiling and express my friendship. In my heart I was saying: ' I don't want your junk. Follow in peace your way! ' " Possibly without even knowing, that driver was practicing the biblical principle of not harboring itself feelings of anger, wrath and malice, or express them through inappropriate words ... and support each other, forgiving them. We need to pray for those who hurt us, as Jesus taught in the sermon on the mount (check out Matthew 5.44-45). The Apostle Paul also insists that in Romans 12.17-21, that sums up this way: "don't let them overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good".

Get rid of all the junk in your heart today!

Velho? / Old man?

Velho?
Leitura bíblica: Josué 13.1-7
_________________

Old man?
Bible Reading: Joshua 13.1-7
_________________
[The Lord said to Joshua:] You are old, and there's still a lot of land to be conquered (Joshua 13.1 (b)).
_________________
You just read that Joshua was already old, but that God still had a task for him: the lands occupied by the natives of Canaan should be acquired and distributed to Israelis. He wasn't too old to be used by God. Unfortunately there are elderly people who, when they receive the benefits of retirement, think that have reached end of life. Are complaining that they are at the stage of "pain": back pain, shoulder, arm, leg, on the head.
Years ago, when I lived in another neighborhood of the city, I noticed that a neighbor was retired and nearly every day he spent many hours in front of your House, watching who passed on the street. Sometimes pull a talk with him, who only complained of life, feeling that she had no more purpose.
What God's Word says about the elderly? I want to highlight two verses: "the righteous flourish like the Palm tree, and grow like Cedar of Lebanon; planted in the House of the Lord, they will bloom in the hallways of our God. Even in old age will give fruit, lush and green, will remain to proclaim that the Lord is fair. He is my rock; in him there is no injustice "(Psalm 92.12-15) and" [the Lord] strengthens the tired and gives great force when you're powerless. Even the young people get tired and are weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord renew your strength. Fly high like eagles; run and don't get weary, walk and can't get enough "(Isaiah 40.29-31).
Being old is not the end of everything. I know a missionary with more than 80 years old and still active in the proclamation of Christ to bordering the Amazon. There's no retirement in our relationship with God or stage of life that stop us to serve him. At any age we can trust in God, live in dependence on him and hope that we can still give some fruit that glorify your holy name!
MM
God has a purpose for each one of us, regardless of our age.
