Castigo e promessa / Punishment and promise

Castigo e promessa
Leitura bíblica: Isaías 7.13-25
____________________________________

Punishment and promise
Reading biblical: Isaiah 7.13-25
____________________________________
The Lord himself will give you a sign: the Virgin will be with child, and bear a son, and will call Immanuel (Isaiah 7.14).
____________________________________
In the text that you just read, the Prophet Isaiah was shocked with the pretense of King Ahaz and demonstrated that he was abusing the patience of God. You have offered protection to your people, but Ahaz rejected it and heard the prophecy that a child would be born as a sign of judgment by disbelief. The lack of faith would have a price: destruction and great humiliation (the hair of the body would be scraped off). God show your power over nature by mentioning that commands the flies and bees as a figure of huge enemy armies that would be sent.
The prophecies received by Ahaz were serious, but also brought a promise – the most wonderful of all history: the coming of the Messiah. A child is born in the time of Ahaz and was proof that all that God had announced would happen. Later, another child had a miraculous birth and expressed the full significance of Emanuel: God with us! The stubbornness of men not to hear God is won with the coming of the Lord's people.
Our disobedience to God is no obstacle to your power. Even before mankind have been created, the "grace was given us in Christ Jesus from everlasting times, being now revealed by the manifestation of our Savior, Christ Jesus" (2 Timothy 1.9 b-10a). It answers the question: "If God knew the man was going to sin, why put him in the world?" Is that the "Immanuel" was already prepared.
The man only fit two choices: the punishment about himself or about Christ, which has already paid the price. Whatever the option, the name of the Lord be glorified, as holy God or as God of redemption. Believe in Christ and give your life to him; you will be freed from punishment would suffer and still enjoy the promises of God!
MJT
Only Christ, the promised Messiah, can get rid of the punishment. That takes faith!

Armadilhas / Traps

Armadilhas
Leitura bíblica: Deuteronômio 7.16-26
____________________________________

Traps
Reading biblical: Deuteronomy 7.16-26
____________________________________
If you link to the survivors of these Nations that remain in the middle of you ... they will become traps and snares for you (Joshua 23.12-13b).
____________________________________
The order given by God to the Israelites was very clear: exterminate all people who lived in Canaan, the land that soon gained control. The Lord would wield your justice through Israel: those Nations would be destroyed because of your wickedness (Deuteronomy 9.4). His evil certainly would influence the Israelis-as said Joshua, those people would be a trap for them, causing them to serve their gods. God knows very well the human being who created and knew that the Israelites could feel pity and lust to the material from which the images of the idols were made, and want to take him home. Why the need to exterminate any danger of contamination. At the same time, Israel did not need fear their enemies, because even God would fight for your people and would.
However, the Israelites disobeyed and not eliminated all those Nations; as God had warned, ended up adopting their idolatrous practices (Psalm 106.34-36). The Prophet Jeremiah tells that the Israelites were burning incense to Baal (the main god of the Canaanites), they gave offers the other gods and even put images of idols in the Temple of the Lord and to build an altar where sacrificed their children to Molech (see Jeremiah 32.29,34-35). They fell into the trap.
And today, what kind of trap we run the risk of falling? For example, we can accept what most argues for granted, but is condemned by the Bible and still put various "idols" in the place of God – a person, money, family, work, ourselves. Finally, we run the risk of letting God aside and consider "normal" what he hates. Watch out! Not to fall into the trap, but please God, we must learn to live in this world without being infected with the practices which the Lord disapproves (Romans 12.2).
VWR
The best way to avoid a trap is to pass as far away as possible from her. The Bible has the map for that.

Que dor! / What a pain!

Que dor!
Leitura bíblica: 2 Samuel 12.15-23
____________________________________

What a pain!

Could I bring her back to life? I will come to her, but she didn't come back to me (2 Samuel 12.23 b).

By the time we discovered that our 12-year-old daughter suffered from acute myelogenous leukemia, we lost our floor. Until then, I thought I was strong. I asked the doctor if this disease was healing and she assured me that Yes, but treatment had to be intensive: every day. The doctors work with all the possibilities of treatment and healing, despite the gravity of the situation. I had no strength to work and lacked employment, but my boss never took a cent of my salary. All my friends have donated blood. My wife was most of the time with the girl, and I was going to the hospital, accompanied by a friend of the Church. My daughter was happy with your visit and also when I was sleeping at your side so that my wife could rest. At the time, received support from many pastors, evangelists and missionaries who were going to pray for my daughter, although I didn't understand the why of it all. A missionary was crying in the hallway after praying with the girl and asked me: "and now, God is there or not?" The question made sense, because I always said that he did not exist. I kept thinking how she could know that. One night, a pastor prayed to my daughter and asked her: "Elisa, I don't want to force you into anything, but do you believe in the sacrifice of Jesus to forgive your sins and wants to rule your life?" She didn't think twice and said: "Yes." A month later, my daughter passed away and this same preacher said in the funeral cult: "When that girl was alive we fast and pray for her, now the Lord picked her up to him". As the death of a child. David also felt that kind of pain, as we can read today. As well as his infant son, our daughter not coming to us, but we are sure that we will go to it, because we believe in the resurrection (see 1 Corinthians 15.51-54).

The hope of the resurrection in Christ is our consolation!
