Leitura Bíblica: Filipenses 1:19-26

Que, pela minha presença, outra vez a exultação de vocês em Cristo Jesus transborde por minha causa (Filipenses 1:26).

O apóstolo Paulo estava exultante. Exultação é uma mistura de alegria, celebração, talvez orgulho… Se vivesse hoje, Paulo seria um tipo raro de cidadão. Substituídos por toda sorte de bugigangas, nós estamos mais para depressão que para exultação. Vivemos ouvindo profecias catastróficas e vendo realidades assustadoras, e assim nos sentimos inseguros no mundo que nos cerca. Vejamos agora a situação daquele cidadão raro chamado Paulo. Estava preso. O enviado da igreja de Filipos que lhe trouxera ajuda material, quase morreu. Sua crise era profunda. Morrer era lucro, chegou a dizer. Contudo, transbordava de alegria e gratidão por aquela primeira igreja que fundara na região macedônica. Como explicar isso?

Vamos tentar. Paulo fora perseguidor da igreja. Para ele, aqueles seguidores de um condenado que morrera crucificado eram um bando de hereges que nada mais mereciam senão a morte. Pois bem, de repente descobriu que esse condenado estava vivo quando lhe apareceu ao meio dia em uma luz muito mais forte que a do sol. Foi informado então de que perseguir esse que julgava hereges era perseguir a Ele, o ressuscitado. Agora teria de esperar a morte, mas, ao invés disso, foi investido da mais importante das missões na terra. Daí em diante passaria por sofrimentos, perseguição, chicotadas, mas, por dentro, exultava de alegria, mesmo preso e à beira da morte porque Jesus, em vez de vingar-se dele, renovara sua vida.

Agora um pergunta: por que não exultamos de alegria como Paulo? Talvez porque não tenhamos uma boa noção da desgraça da qual Jesus nos salvou. Somos otimistas sobre nós mesmos e esquecemos de onde Cristo, com sua morte, nos tirou. Se você se aperceber disso, também exultará em Cristo e verá o poder da exultação! – (MJT)

Vida da verdade é aquela restaurada por Cristo, a despeito de qualquer circunstância.

Exultation

Bible reading: Philippians 1:19 -26

Which, by my presence, again the exhilaration of you in Jesus Christ overflow for my sake (Philippians 1:26).

The Apostle Paul was elated. Exultation is a mixture of joy, celebration, maybe pride ... If he lived today, Paul would be a rare type of citizen. Replaced by all manner of trinkets, we're more for depression to exhilaration. We are listening and watching frightening realities catastrophic prophecies, and so we feel unsafe in the world around us. Let us look now at the situation that rare citizen named Paul. Was stuck. The Church of Philippi which brought material help, almost died. Its crisis was deep. Die was profit, went on to say. However, overflowing with joy and gratitude for that first church that he founded in the Macedonian region. How to explain this?

Let's try. Paul outside the Church Tracker. For him, those followers of a convict who had died were a bunch of crucified heretics who deserve nothing but death. Well, suddenly discovered that the condemned was alive when he appeared at noon in a much stronger light than the Sun was informed then that Chase one thought heretics was chasing him, the risen one. Now would have to wait for the death, but, instead, was invested in the most important of missions on Earth. Thereafter would pass by suffering, persecution, lashes, but, inside, rejoice of joy, even arrested and on the verge of death because Jesus, rather than avenge it, had renewed his life.

Now a question: why not let us rejoice with joy as Paul? Maybe because we do not have a good notion of doom which Jesus has saved us. We are optimistic about ourselves and forget where Christ, with his death, we took. If you see this, also will rejoice in Christ and you will see the power of exultation! -(MJT)

The truth is that life restored by Christ, regardless of any circumstances.

Sustentado / Sustained

Leitura Bíblica: Isaías 46:1-4

Aqueles que esperam no Senhor renovam as suas forças (Isaías 40:31a).

Um cristão orava por direção divina depois de ser convidado a lecionar num curso de teologia. Acontece que se recuperava de um problema cardíaco e tinha de considerar bem se poderia assumir outra responsabilidade além do seu trabalho normal. Buscou o Senhor e recebeu uma palavra de texto de hoje: “Eu (Deus) os fiz e eu os levarei; eu os sustentarei” (versículo 4b). Em paz aceitou o convite nada sofreu do serviço extra. Assim, uma profecia de tantos séculos atrás serviu em data recente.

Israel, tentado a duvidar e a adotar os deuses estrangeiros, recebeu um alento a tempo. Na verdade, a Babilônia era poderosa, mas seus ídolos eram impotentes. Deus tinha amplo poder para sustentar seu povo, gerado por ele mesmo pela promessa feita a Abraão (Gênesis 12). Comparou Israel a uma criança sem força, mas, como seu pai, Deus velaria por ela até o fim.

Ao ler o mesmo texto, um jovem cristão ainda inexperiente animou-se quando entendeu que Deus realmente tem poder para leva-lo seguro ao longo da vida. Lembrou-se de ter lido: “Cristo salva, mas guarda também!” Você também pode encarar as suas provações sustentado pela fé na Palavra de Deus, com a garantia de que Deus cuidará da sua vida. Confie só Nele e não em você. Confesse que é incapaz de resolver seus problemas sem o poder de Deus. Creia que suas forças serão renovadas todos os dias, como afirma o versículo em destaque. Diante de problemas, há quem clame: “Valha-me Deus!”, sem realmente crer de coração. Mas diga como Davi: “Certamente Deus é o meu auxílio; é o Senhor que me sustém” (Salmos 54:4), e também como Pedro. “Senhor, para quem iremos? Tu tens as palavras de vida eterna” (João 6:68). Do Senhor você receberá a coragem para viver para Ele em casa, no trabalho, no seu dia a dia. Por fim, lembre-se do convite de Cristo: “Venham a mim todos os que estais cansados e sobrecarregados, e eu lhes darei descanso” (Mateus 11:28). (TL)

Sustentados pelo poder de Deus podemos enfrentar as situações da vida. 

Sustained

Bible reading: Isaiah 46: 1-4

Those who hope in the Lord renew their forces (Isaiah 40: 31).

A Christian praying for Divine direction after being invited to teach a course in theology. It turns out that recovering from a heart problem and had to consider whether it could take on another responsibility beyond their normal work. Sought the Lord and received a word of today's text: "I (God) did and I'll take; I shall hold "(verse 4b). In peace accepted the invitation service suffered nothing extra. Thus, a prophecy many centuries ago served in recent date.

Israel, tempted to doubt and to adopt foreign gods, received a breath in time. In fact, Babylon was powerful, but their idols were powerless. God had broad power to sustain his people, generated by himself by the promise made to Abraham (Genesis 12). Compared Israel to a child without force, but, like his father, God sails for her until the end.

To read the same text, a young Christian inexperienced still perked up when understood that God really have power to take it safe. Did you remember to have read: "Christ saves, but also guard!" You can also look at their trials supported by faith in the word of God, with the assurance that God will take care of your life. Trust only in him and not you. Confess that is unable to solve its problems without the power of God. Believe that their forces will be renewed every day, as stated in the verse. In the face of problems, some people cry out: "it is me God!", without actually believe. But tell how David: "surely God is my help; It is the Lord who sustains me "(Psalm 54: 4), and also as Peter. "Lord, to whom we will? Thou hast the words of eternal life "(John 6: 68). Of the Lord you will receive the courage to live for him at home, at work, in their day to day. Finally, remember Christ's invitation: "come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give them rest" (Matthew 11:28). (TL)

Supported by the power of God we can cope with life situations.

Soldado / Soldier

Leitura Bíblica: II Timóteo 2:1-4

[Corramos com] os olhos fitos em Jesus, autor e consumador da nossa fé (Hebreus 12:2a).

Espalhados pelo Brasil há vários quartéis onde os jovens alistados e escolhidos pelo Exército vão para, com disciplina rígida e muitos exercícios, serem treinados na defesa de uma causa: a segurança do nosso país. Paulo usa essa ideia para dizer que os seguidores de Jesus devem agir como soldados, que não se deixam distrair com coisas do dia a dia por estarem totalmente dedicados ao seu objetivo principal. A comparação é boa, pois o cristão enfrenta uma guerra bem real: por um lado, ele quer agradar a Deus, por outro lado, Satanás faz de tudo para derrubá-lo e destruí-lo.

O soldado precisa deixar de lado seus próprios interesses e aprender a trabalhar em equipe, ajudando e sendo ajudado, pois sozinho não conseguirá nada. Da mesma forma, o seguidor de Jesus precisa de companheiros que tenham o mesmo objetivo. O velho ditado “a união faz a força” também vale para aqueles que têm um compromisso com Jesus. Neste “batalhão” um dá cobertura ao outro, e todos juntos, cada qual em sua função, colaboram pra alcançar o mesmo objetivo.

O soldado precisa enfrentar provas duras, para ficar mais forte para o combate. Da mesma forma, o cristão não passa por dificuldades e testes para ser prejudicado, mas para fortalecer seus “músculos” espirituais e manter-se sempre alerta e preparado. Também é preciso lembrar que nossos sofrimentos não chegam nem perto do que Jesus Cristo sofreu inocentemente por nós.

O objetivo do soldado é diferente daquele do cristão comum, que tem apenas obrigações com a vida civil. O soldado defende uma causa muito maior. Seu desejo é cumprir bem a sua missão e agradar a seu comandante, que a direciona, treina e capacita. Deus deseja ser o nosso comandante. Nós só precisamos nos apresentar como voluntários. Então Ele assumirá o comando e o nosso principal objetivo passa a ser agradá-Lo. – IG

Na luta da vida diária, só quem escolhe Deus como comandante pode ter certeza absoluta da vitória. 

Soldier

Bible reading: 2 Timothy 2: 1-4

[Take on] the eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12: 2a).

Spread by Brazil there are several barracks where young enlisted and chosen by the army are going to, with strict discipline and many exercises, be trained in defense of a cause: the security of our country. Paul uses this idea to say that the followers of Jesus must act as soldiers, who do not let themselves be distracted by day-to-day things because they are totally devoted to its main goal. The comparison is good, because the Christian faces a very real war: on the one hand, he wants to please God, on the other hand, Satan does everything to bring him down and destroy him.

The soldier must put aside their own interests and learn to work in teams, helping and being helped, because it alone will not be able to anything. Similarly, the follower of Jesus need guys who have the same goal. The old saying "unity is strength" also holds true for those who have a commitment to Jesus. In this "Battalion" gives the other coverage, and all together, each in their function, help to achieve the same goal.

The soldier must face hard evidence, to get stronger for the combat. Similarly, the non-Christian goes through difficulties and trials to be harmed, but to strengthen its "muscles" and always remain alert and prepared. You must also remember that our sufferings are not even close to what Jesus Christ suffered innocently.

The goal of the soldier is different from that of the common Christian, which has only obligations with civilian life. The soldier defends a cause much larger. His desire is to fulfill your mission and please his commander, who directs, trains and trains. God wants to be our captain. We only need to introduce ourselves as volunteers. Then he will take over the command, and our main goal is to please you. -IG

In the struggle of everyday life, only those who choose God as Commander can be absolutely sure of victory.

Um perigo atual / A current danger

Leitura Bíblica: Tiago 5:1-7

Portanto, irmãos, sejam pacientes até a vinda do Senhor. Vejam como o agricultor aguarda que a terra produza a preciosa colheita e como espera com paciência até virem as chuvas do outono e da primavera (Tiago 5:7).

O cristianismo é muito prático, como percebemos no livro de Tiago. Muitas vezes nos concentramos na parte teórica e esquecemos de aplicar na vida real aquilo que aprendemos. Mas, quando Jesus voltar, o julgamento avaliará os resultados da nossa vida: serão do tipo que enferruja e perde seu valor ou do tipo que é lembrado para sempre?

Um dos aspectos práticos tratados por Tiago é a ânsia por bens mais materiais. Esse é um perigo muito atual diante do consumismo contagiante da nossa sociedade. O custo das riquezas pode ser invisível aos olhos: saúde prejudicada, famílias quebradas, trabalhadores enganados. Tiago nos adverte para dia do acerto de contas com Deus: este será o momento da verdade, em que Deus mostrará o resultado real das nossas ações. Nenhum dos tesouros ajuntados aqui nos será útil quando estivermos diante do trono de Deus. A condenação para a injustiça e a luxúria é certa. Veja bem: Tiago não condena a riqueza em si. Ele alerta para os meios usados para acumulá-las: fraudes (versículo 4), ganância e violência (versículo 6). E também nos alerta para o fato de que as riquezas são passageiras e não trazem felicidade real.

Em vez de tentar juntar os bens desejados a todo custo, Tiago recomenda que tenhamos paciência (versículo em destaque). O agricultor não tem como apressar o crescimento da colheita e por isso se dedica a cuidar da plantação. Assim, ele faz sua parte para que o resultado final – a colheita – seja o melhor possível. Como o fruto desejado pelo cristão é mais pessoas entregando sua vida a Jesus, a nossa parte no trabalho pode incluir: demonstrar amor, contar de Jesus, ajudar os carentes… é só ficar de olho nas necessidades à sua volta. – (MJT)

O melhor fruto do cristão não é aquilo que enferruja, mas aquilo que é eterno. 

A current danger

Bible reading: James 5: 1-7

Therefore, brothers, are patients until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious harvest the land and as expected with patience until they see the rains of autumn and spring (James 5: 7).

Christianity is very practical, as we see in the book of James. Many times we focus on the theoretical part and forget to apply in real life what they have learned. But, when Jesus returns, the trial will evaluate the results of our life: will be of the type that rust and loses its value or type that is remembered forever?

One of the practical aspects treated by Tiago is the craving for more material goods. This is a very current on danger of contagious consumerism of our society. The cost of riches can be invisible to the eye: impaired health, broken families, duped workers. James warns us for day of reckoning with God: this will be the moment of truth, in which God will show the actual result of our actions. None of us here will be bunched useful treasures when we are before the throne of God. The condemnation for the injustice and the lust is certain. See as well: James does not condemn wealth itself. He warns the means used to accumulate them: (verse 4), greed and violence (verse 6). And also alert us to the fact that the riches are transient and do not bring real happiness.

Instead of trying to add the desired goods at all costs, James recommends that we have patience (in verse). The farmer has no way of rushing the crop growth and therefore is dedicated to take care of the planting. So, it does its part to that end result – vintage – is the best possible. As the fruit desired by the Christian is more people giving their lives to Jesus, our part at work can include: demonstrate love, from Jesus, help the needy ... just keep an eye on the needs around them. -(MJT)

The best fruit of a Christian is not what rust, but that which is eternal.
