Traição / Treason

Traição
Leitura bíblica:
_______________

Treason
Bible reading:
_______________
I will sing forever the love of the Lord, with my mouth will declare your faithfulness for all generations (Psalm 89.1).
_______________
Feel betrayed is, in fact, one of the worst feelings you can have. not only the suffering caused by the impact of betrayal, but the brands that are forever. In the Bible we find several examples of treason. Joseph was sold by his brothers (Genesis 37.12-20); Korah, Dathan and Abiram urged other leaders against Moses (numbers 16); the heads of priests and religious leaders planned to hold Jesus to betrayal and kill him (Matthew 26.3-4); Judas handed his master (Matthew 26.14-16; 47-49) and the people turned against the one who healed and operated miracles (Matthew 27.20-21). As if that wasn't enough, the disciples of Christ let him, as had been foretold by the prophet Zechariah (Zechariah 13.7).
Today's text describes the treason of an entire city, Keilah, after being released by David out of the hands of the Philistines. Cynically, the people brought to deliver him into the hands of King Saul, hunting. If it wasn't for the help of the Lord, he would have succumbed. This was not the only betrayal that David suffered. Saul repeatedly tried to kill him, and even his own son, Absalom, wanted to take his throne through a conspiracy. The betrayal does not come alone. In fact, she is part of a set of attitudes that denote a character weakness on the part of the traitor. He has to cheat, lie, steal, represent — all to sustain his duplicity. And worst of all is that the traitor is, generally, a person close, by whom we nurture affection: can be a child, a spouse, a friend, a brother. We are betrayed by those we trust. But what really matters is that we always act according to our values.
Still to be sold all over the world, which would never do this to us! (LFS)

Betray is falsehood – and which is false does not generate anything good.

Um só / One

Um só
Leitura bíblica:
_______________

(DS)

No Corpo de Cristo, a unidade produz a força e a diversidade a executa.

One
Bible reading:
_______________
There is one body and one spirit, as well as the hope to which you were called to one thing (Ephesians 4.4).
_______________
When we talk about communion we need to think about relationships – relationship with God and with others who have the same faith in Jesus Christ. There's no way to communion without a relationship with God and with other Christians. There is one faith in the one God, but there are many people who seek and share this same faith. Therefore, talk of communion is talking about unity in diversity.
Unit because we believe in the same God and diversity because there are different people who share the same faith. For the sake of unity, communion is an element that can not miss in the Christian life. The communion we gather forces against the temptations. Join solace amid the suffering. Join prayers amid the despair. On communion surrendered thanks for the good gifts God gives us.
But, because of the diversity, we know that share the same moment with other people is not always easy. The communion we find people with different thoughts, with personalities and temperaments that can be opposite to ours. We found several wills and behaviors. The communion we find people with different gifts. That's what speaks the text of reading today.
We are one body because we believe, belong and we serve the same Lord. But at the same time we are many members who receive the same Lord varied gifts to perform different functions. That is why the Apostle Paul says that all who believe in Jesus Christ form one body. And we know that a body can only be because body is formed by members with different roles. That's why you can't talk about communion without thinking of unity and diversity. Therefore, if you want to stand firm in faith in Jesus Christ, share moments of fellowship with other Christians. After all, it is in diversity that you learn what is drive. (DS)

In the body of Christ, the unit produces the strength and diversity to perform.

Esperança / Hope

Esperança
Leitura bíblica:
_______________

Hope
Bible reading:
_______________
God will redeem my life from the grave and take me for you (Psalms 49.15).
_______________
Second word on the street, the only sure thing we can have in life is death. And, indeed, all of us we shall pass through it. The Psalm you just read in facing this reality. Whether you're rich or poor, important or not, there's nothing that can rid the end of his life in this world. And even if in life we are different from each other, in death we're all the same. The rich equals the poor, and the same happens with the wise and the foolish.
But on this reality I want to draw your attention to the verse that is highlighted. Even though death reach all of us, there is hope that transcends. The psalmist hadn't met the reality of the resurrection that became known to us through Jesus Christ, but he had hoped that would not be forgotten in the grave. And today, from the coming of Christ, we have the firm conviction that, as well as all die, in Christ all will be made alive. Jesus Christ conquered death to resurrect. And from that moment on, death no longer have the last word. The Apostle Paul says, when talking about the resurrection, death was destroyed by the victory of Christ. And asks: where death is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” (1 Corinthians 15.55)
The reality of death should not scare us, but make us question and evaluate the way in which we live. I see people neglecting a relational life with God and prioritizing things that remain in this world when you die. What you are seeking and valuing in your life? Know that our life is extremely short; that's why we must conduct it in a way that we can inherit eternal life with God. Don't devote all its efforts to what can be taken out of their hands at any time. If you want to have a hope alive that will never perish, nor lose their value, seek the Kingdom of God while you still can. (MP)

If at birth there is the certainty of death, dying there is the sure and certain hope of the resurrection.
