Âncora Leitura bíblica: Mateus 6.19-24 _________________ Temos esta esperança como âncora da alma, firme e segura (Hebreus 6.19a). _________________

O que “segura a barra” quando tudo mais desaba? Alguém já disse que a gente sempre vai para onde o coração já foi. Se as esperanças e valores são depositados em determinado bem, seja ele material ou não, quando este se vai, eu sigo atrás. Assim foi no caso bem conhecido de pessoas que saltaram pela janela quando a Bolsa de Valores de Nova Iorque quebrou em 1929, dando origem a uma depressão econômica mundial em que fortunas construídas ao longo de vidas inteiras se desvaneceram no ar do dia para a noite.

Fico a pensar: o que causaria efeito tão devastador em mim? O que em minha vida é realmente imperdível? E o que, em caso de tal perda, impediria que eu me despedaçasse em meio à consequente tempestade? Grandes perdas são como tempestades no mar: abalam as bases de sustentação, como no caso de um barco tranquilamente apoiado no mar até que as ondas começam a jogá-lo de um lado a outro. Elas sacodem a pessoa com violência além da capacidade de resistir – apenas uma âncora confiável pode evitar o naufrágio; ela impede que o navio seja arrastado pelos ventos e pelo movimento frenético das águas, e destruído. Seria possível ancorar o barco em si mesmo? Pura e perigosíssima tolice. A âncora precisa firmar-se em algo (ou alguém) imutável.

Muita gente pensa que ser cristão é ser religioso, obedecer um punhado de “não podes” para agradar à Divindade e conseguir um lugarzinho melhor após a morte. Mas seguir a Jesus é justamente uma questão de aprender dele e com ele a viver neste mundo, usufruindo as circunstâncias sem delas depender – porque o coração está ancorado mais além. Você conhece as promessas de Jesus? Gostaria de lhe sugerir que invista tempo e esforço em conhecer e cultivar a confiança nas promessas daquele que estabeleceu um lugar seguro para nossa âncora: além do mundo visível, na eternidade. É possível e muito melhor viver assim. (MHJ)

Anchor Bible reading: Matthew 6.19-24 _________________ We have this hope as an anchor of the soul, firm and secure (Hebrews  6.19a). _________________

What "hold the bar" when everything falls apart? Has anyone ever said that we always go to where the heart was. If the hopes and values are deposited in certain well, be it material or not, when this goes, I follow behind. So was the well-known case of people who jumped out of the window when the New York Stock Exchange broke in 1929, giving rise to a worldwide economic depression in which fortunes built over lifetimes faded into thin air overnight.

I wonder: what would cause such devastating effect on me? What in my life is really not to be missed? And that, in the event of such loss, would prevent that I would break amid the ensuing storm? Great losses are as storms at sea: shaking the foundations of support, as in the case of a boat quietly supported at sea until the waves begin to play it from one side to another. They shake the person with violence and the ability to resist-just an anchor can reliably prevent the sinking; It prevents the ship from being swept by the winds and the frenetic movement of the waters, and destroyed. Would it be possible to anchor the boat in yourself? Pure and very dangerous nonsense. The anchor needs to sign on to something (or someone) immutable.

Many people think that being a Christian is to be religious, obey a handful of "can't" to please the Deity and achieve a better place after death. But following Jesus is just a matter of learning from him and with him to live in this world, enjoying the circumstances without them depend on – because the heart is anchored more in addition. You know the promises of Jesus? I would like to suggest that you invest time and effort to meet and cultivate confidence in promises of which established a safe place for our anchor: beyond the visible world, in eternity. It is possible and much better way to live. (MHJ)

At the time of the storm, just a hope beyond the visible offers safe haven.

Orgulho / Pride

Orgulho Leitura bíblica: Daniel 4.4-8a;19-27 _________________ O orgulho do homem o humilha, mas o de espírito humilde obtém honra (Provérbios 29.23). _________________

Até onde o orgulho pode nos levar?

No texto de hoje, lemos a interpretação de um sonho que o maior rei do império babilônico teve. Ele era um grande administrador e muito inteligente. Embelezou a cidade de Babilônia – inclusive com os jardins suspensos, uma das sete maravilhas do mundo antigo – tornando-a uma das mais belas metrópoles deste período histórico. Ele realmente tinha muito poder e fez grandes obras – contudo, deixou-se levar pela ideia de que merecia ser glorificado por tudo o que tinha feito e foi dominado pelo orgulho. Mesmo alertado pelo sonho, não atendeu (leia o restante do capítulo) e o grande rei foi extremamente humilhado: passou a viver como um animal! Sua arrogância levou-o a uma situação muito esquisita, ridícula mesmo. Imagine ver uma grande autoridade pastando – ela seria respeitada depois disso? Nabucodonosor contou com a misericórdia divina. Ao final do período estabelecido pelo Senhor, ele recobrou o entendimento e reconheceu seu erro, glorificando a Deus. O grande rei teve de admitir: “Agora eu, Nabucodonosor, louvo, exalto e glorifico o Rei dos céus... ele tem poder para humilhar aqueles que vivem com arrogância” (Daniel 4.37).

Já Herodes não teve uma segunda chance. Quando o povo disse que sua voz parecia a de um deus, ele deve ter gostado da ideia. Ele não glorificou a Deus e por isso morreu comido por vermes (Atos 12.21-23). Em seu caso, aceitar a adoração devida somente a Deus custou-lhe a vida!
O orgulho não agrada a Deus e talvez seja o que mais nos afasta dele. Se nos deixamos dominar por este sentimento, pensamos que não dependemos de ninguém e deixamos de dar o crédito a Deus por aquilo que ele faz. É quando reconhecemos que somos fracos e pequenos que compreendemos o quanto precisamos de Deus. Reconheça sua real situação e não se deixe dominar pelo orgulho. Ele só nos leva para longe de Deus! As far as the pride can you take us?

In today's text, we read the interpretation of a dream that the greatest King of the Babylonian Empire had. He was a great administrator and very intelligent. Embellished the city of Babylon – including with the hanging gardens, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world – making it one of the most beautiful cities of this historical period. He really had a lot of power and made great works-however, he was caught up in the idea that deserved to be praised for what he had done and was dominated by pride. Even alerted by dream, didn't pick up (read the rest of the chapter) and the great King was extremely humbled: lived like an animal! His arrogance led him to a very weird, ridiculous even. Imagine viewing a great authority – she would be respected after that? Nebuchadnezzar had the divine mercy. At the end of the period established by the Lord, he regained the understanding and recognized his mistake, glorifying God. The great King had to admit: "Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, praise and glorify the heavenly King ... He has power to humiliate those who live with arrogance" (Daniel 4.37).

Herod already had a second chance. When people said that his voice sounded from a god, he must have liked the idea. He doesn't glorify God and died eaten by worms (12.21 Acts-23). In your case, accept the worship due only to God cost him his life!
The pride is not pleasing to God and maybe that's what keeps us more of him. If we master for this feeling, we do not depend on anyone and we give credit to God for what he does. Is when we recognize that we are weak and small that we understand how much we need God. Acknowledge your real situation and not be seized by pride. It only takes us away from God. (VWR)

Deus fala / God speaks

Deus fala Leitura bíblica: Josué 5.13-15 _________________ As minhas ovelhas ouvem a minha voz; eu as conheço, e elas me seguem (João 10.27). _________________

“Minha mãe me dizia: ‘Estude e não se envolva com pessoas que usam drogas’. Que pena que eu não a ouvi”, foi o comentário de uma pessoa que faz tratamento na comunidade terapêutica na qual trabalho. Se as pessoas ouvissem mais os bons conselhos que recebem na vida, tenho convicção de que seriam poupados de muito sofrimento que experimentam por causa da desobediência e das más decisões.

O texto da leitura bíblica de hoje fala do momento em que os israelitas chegam à cidade de Jericó para cercá-la. Josué era líder do povo de Israel, e perto de Jericó encontrou-se com um homem empunhando uma espada. Ao perceber que este homem foi enviado por Deus, Josué ajoelhou-se com rosto em terra, em sinal de respeito, e lhe perguntou: “Que mensagem o meu senhor tem para o seu servo?” (verso 14b). Ele estava disposto a ouvir, e, se você ler toda a história sobre a conquista de Jericó (Josué capítulo 6), vai perceber que Josué não apenas escutou, mas também obedeceu às orientações de Deus.

O versículo em destaque cita palavras de Jesus. Em João 8.47 ele disse algo semelhante: “Aquele que pertence a Deus ouve o que Deus diz. Vocês não o ouvem porque não pertencem a Deus”. Infelizmente vivemos em um tempo no qual as pessoas pensam que têm muito a dizer a Deus e pouco a ouvir dele. É a mesma coisa que aconteceu com a pessoa citada no começo, que se julgou mais entendida que sua mãe e não a ouviu. Hoje sofre as consequências da dependência química.

Muitas pessoas vivem nas igrejas, mas vão lá apenas para falar a Deus, e não para ouvi-lo. É muito mais sábio apenas ouvir e obedecer à sua palavra, pois o que se fala a Deus é menos importante do que aquilo que ele tem a nos dizer. Diante disso, lanço um desafio: aquiete-se diante de Deus e ouça o que ele tem para lhe falar. Afinal, aquele que pertence a Deus ouve o que ele tem a dizer. (MP)

Para ouvir o que Deus tem a dizer, é preciso parar de falar.

God speaks Bible reading: Joshua 5.13-15 _________________ My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me (John 10.27). _________________

"My mother told me: 'Study and don't get involved with people who take drugs '. Too bad I didn't hear you ", was the comment of a person who does therapeutic community treatment in which work. If people hear more good advice I receive in my life, I have belief that they would be spared much suffering they experience because of disobedience and bad decisions.

The text of the biblical reading today speaks of the moment in which the Israelites arrive at the town of Jericho to outflank it. Joshua was the leader of the people of Israel, and near Jericho found himself with a man wielding a sword. Realizing that this man was sent by God, Joshua knelt with face to the ground, as a sign of respect, and asked him: "what message does my Lord have for his servant?" (verse 14b). He was willing to listen, and if you read the whole story about the conquest of Jericho (Joshua Chapter 6), will realize that Joshua not only heard, but also obeyed God guidelines.

The verse highlighted quotes Jesus ' words. In John 8.47 he said something similar: "one who belongs to God hears what God says. You don't hear because they don't belong to God ". Unfortunately we live in a time in which people think they have a lot to say to God and listen to him. Is the same thing that happened with the person mentioned in the beginning, that if judged more understood that his mother and not heard. Today suffers the consequences of chemical dependency.

Many people live in churches, but go there just to talk to God, and not to hear him. It is much wiser to just listen and obey his word, because what if this God is less important than what he has to say. Given this, I challenge: quiet in front of God and hear what he has to tell. After all, one who belongs to God hears what he has to say. (MP)

To hear what God has to say, you need to stop talking.

Reconstrução / Reconstruction

Reconstrução Leitura bíblica: Zacarias 4.6-10 _________________ Não por força, nem por violência, mas pelo meu Espírito, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos (Zacarias 4.6 ‘b’). _________________

Após décadas de cativeiro na Babilônia, os judeus receberam a permissão do rei Ciro para retornar a sua terra. Esta estava praticamente abandonada, em ruínas: o templo e os muros de Jerusalém tinham sido destruídos quando Nabucodonosor conquistou a cidade. Dos que não foram levados ao exílio, muitos fugiram para outras nações, e os que habitavam Judá passavam por grandes dificuldades. Para estes e aqueles que vieram da Babilônia havia muito trabalho a ser executado para colocar tudo em ordem. Além da reconstrução de Judá, havia outra necessidade: a restauração espiritual do povo. Este também teve de enfrentar a oposição das nações vizinhas quando a reconstrução foi iniciada. A situação era desanimadora.

Contudo, Deus interveio de várias formas, incentivando as autoridades e o povo a confiar no Senhor e a empenhar-se em sua tarefa. No texto de hoje, um dos líderes nesta época pós-exílica, Zorobabel, é indicado por Deus por meio do profeta Zacarias como aquele que concluiria a reconstrução do templo. Ele não precisaria de um exército poderoso para isso, mas seria capacitado pelo Espírito de Deus (veja o versículo em destaque).

Quem sabe você tenha tido uma experiência semelhante: recomeçar após uma situação difícil. Eu já ajudei a reerguer uma comunidade cristã que havia passado por uma grande crise. Nesses momentos, é bom lembrar que não dependemos de nossa força ou capacidade, pois a ajuda vem de Deus! Ele pode realizar o que para nós parece impossível! É preciso confiar nele, entregar as dificuldades em suas mãos e seguir a direção que ele der. Por meio do seu Espírito, Deus restaura nossa vida e age até mesmo nas situações mais difíceis. (MM)

Recomeçar não é fácil, mas é possível se contamos com a ajuda de Deus.

Reconstruction Bible reading: Zechariah 4.6-10 _________________ Not by force, not by violence, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts (Zechariah 4.6 'b'). _________________

After decades of captivity in Babylon, the Jews received permission from King Cyrus to return their land. This was practically abandoned in ruins: the temple and the walls of Jerusalem had been destroyed when Nebuchadnezzar conquered the city. Of those who did not were taken into exile, many fled to other Nations, and those who inhabited Judah went through great difficulties. For these and those who came from Babylon there was a lot of work to be executed to put everything in order. Besides the reconstruction of Judah, there was another need: the spiritual restoration of the people. This also had to face the opposition of neighboring Nations when the reconstruction was started. The situation was daunting.

However, God intervened in various ways, encouraging the authorities and the people to trust in the Lord and to engage in their task. In today's text, one of the leaders in this after the exile era, Zerubbabel, is indicated by God through the prophet Zechariah as the one who would conclude the reconstruction of the temple. He wouldn't need a powerful army for this, but would be empowered by the spirit of God (see verse headlines).

Maybe you had a similar experience: starting over after a difficult situation. I've already helped rebuild a Christian community that had gone through a major crisis. At these moments, it is good to remember that don't rely on our strength or capability, because the help comes from God! He can accomplish what to us seems impossible! We must trust him, deliver the difficulties in your hands and follow the direction he goes through his spirit, God restores our lives and acts even in the most difficult situations. (MM)

Resume is not easy, but it is possible if we rely on the help of God.

Deus agindo / God acting

Deus agindo Leitura bíblica: Filipenses 1.1-7 _________________ Estou convencido de que aquele que começou boa obra em vocês vai completá-la até o dia de Cristo Jesus (Filipenses 1.6). _________________

Muitos cristãos pensam que, após decidirem crer em Jesus como Salvador – aquele que nos reconcilia com Deus - a obra já está completa. Repare bem, no entanto, naquilo que Paulo escreve à igreja de Filipos. Tratava-se de uma das melhores igrejas dentre as que Paulo conhecia, todavia ainda havia algo a completar. O que seria? Conhecer Cristo como Salvador é o primeiro passo. A seguir, porém, Deus começa a agir para nos levar a conhecer Cristo como Senhor. A salvação é uma obra de Deus no ser humano, mas como este é imperfeito, ainda haverá muito a fazer.

Desde o começo, os cristãos de Filipos foram cooperadores com Paulo na obra da evangelização. Mas a obra de Deus não é fracionária – ela é um todo. Missões, evangelização, ação social, ensino, conduta ética, santificação, glorificação do nome de Deus, adoração... fazem parte da obra de Deus na nossa vida e na vida da Igreja. Certamente existe algo maior além da salvação, e é bom saber que Deus tem um plano para cada um de nós e vai levar esse plano até o fim. O texto da leitura de hoje une os cristãos dos dias apostólicos aos dias de hoje, pois essa obra continuará até o dia da volta de Cristo.

No livro de Jó temos um belo exemplo do modo como Deus age. O próprio Deus afirmou que Jó era íntegro, no entanto ele ainda tinha uma obra a completar em sua vida. No final, Jó afirma: “Meus ouvidos já tinham ouvido a teu respeito, mas agora meus olhos te viram” (Jó 42.5). Que bom saber que a cada um de nós Deus quer revelar-se mais e mais. Deus está agindo e vai continuar a agir até sua obra em nós se completar. (MJT)

God acting Bible reading: Philippians 1.1-7 _________________ I am convinced that the one who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1.6). _________________

Many Christians think that, after they decide to believe in Jesus as the Savior-God reconciles with us that her work is already complete. Note well, however, what Paul writes to the Church of Philippi. It was one of the best among the churches that Paul knew, however there was still something to complete. What would it be? Know Christ as Savior is the first step. Then, however, God begins to act to lead us to Christ as Lord. Salvation is a work of God in the human being, but as this is imperfect, there will still be much to do.

From the beginning, Christians of Philippi were co-workers with Paul in the work of evangelization. But the work of God is not fractional-she is a whole. Missions, evangelism, social action, education, ethical conduct, sanctification, glorification of the name of God, worship... do part of the work of God in our lives and in the life of the Church. Surely there is something more beyond salvation, and it is good to know that God has a plan for each of us and it will take that plan to the end. The text of the reading today unites Christians from Apostolic days to today, because this work will continue until the day of the return of Christ.

In the book of job we have a fine example of how God acts. God himself has said that job was righteous, yet he still had a work completed in your life. In the end, job States: "my ears had heard about, but now my eyes have seen you" (Job 42.5). That's good to know that each of us God wants to reveal himself more and more. God is acting and will continue to act until their work is completed in us. (MJT)
