O inesperado / The unexpected

O inesperado

The unexpected
Bible Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4.13-18

When they say, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman; and so no escape (1 Thessalonians 5.3).

On one occasion my wife and I were on a plane and, as usual, the flight attendant before takeoff explains some security measures. As we were sitting in the first row of seats, she drew special attention to these passengers, because right there were located the emergency exit doors (passengers seated in this row are responsible for helping to open them in case of need). Everyone knows that an emergency exit door in the air has no value. That's when we had a few questions for the stewardess, among them: "So this port can only be used when the aircraft is on the ground and stopped?" "Yes," she replied.
The biblical text highlighted talks about the return of Jesus Christ. No one knows when that will be, but that will happen for sure. The alarm signal, i.e., "with the voice of the Archangel and the trumpet of God resound, the Lord himself will descend from heaven and the dead in Christ shall rise first. After we we're alive, we're going to be caught up with him in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. " But this encounter with the Lord in the air will depend on a decision made here on Earth. Just like you can't open the door of a plane in the air, you can't make a decision for Jesus in the air. The decision needs to be taken on land. What happens in the air is the security to be hosted by Jesus Christ from a decision to believe in Jesus made here on Earth. So, don't expect the unexpected happens, be prepared for the unexpected at any time and be assured that a door will open for you in an emergency situation.

Perseverança / Perseverance

Perseverança
Leitura bíblica: Judas 17-23
_________________

Stay in the love of God, while waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ lead you to eternal life (Jude 21).

I remember a friend, now deceased, who was a volunteer in the therapeutic community in which work. We played board games, and when he lost, said almost always the same: "just kidding." In fact, they were just moments of relaxation. I thought in this example when reading the entered text for reading today. When we believe in Jesus Christ and commit our lives, our biggest target is eternal life with him, when we could be forever in his presence. But I find myself often with my thoughts focused on way too much for what belongs to this world. I have the impression that many people want Jesus Christ just to live here on this earth. If we look at the reality of the early Christians, believe in Jesus Christ often meant the loss of everything he owned, including his own life. I'm glad to live in a context in which there is no persecution, at least not the way those pioneers the faced, but know that it exists in other ways, and in some places in the world still today the followers of Jesus are dead. However, the life we receive next to God is worth infinitely more than we can live here on this earth.
Jude urges the children of God to be patient. The life with God is not a joke, it's something serious. Our thoughts should be focused on what is the loud and not for what is land (Colossians 3.1-3). This is my wish, and also to keep it together in the love of Christ until he comes back. I invite you to do the same. We will together pray for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ in glory, because you're right: nothing in the world can compare to what God has prepared for his children. The promise of Jesus is that he will be back soon. Let us rejoice in it!

Dê ouvidos / Listen

Dê ouvidos
Leitura bíblica: 2 Crônicas 18.1-27
_________________

Jehoshaphat, King of Judah, sought to please the Lord God; already over, King of Israel, did what was evil before the Lord. The Alliance of the two came up with the idea of going for a war. Shane suggested that first query to God. Finish called his 400 prophets and they all supported his plan. But there was a Prophet who was not named because Finish didn't like him. This was known for daring to denounce the errors in King's life. However, at the request of Jehoshaphat, 2 Michaiah would be heard. As expected, when conveyed the message of God, get angry, I didn't want to listen to the message and threw him in jail. We like to hear good things about ourselves, but often we need also be faced with something we do against the will of God. How we react to that? Are we aware that the Lord wishes to tell us or hear only what's good for our ego?
When we decided to follow our will, always going to find people who will support us, and it's amazing how we know exactly who to turn to, often despising those who bring us a word of warning from God. It's easier to be angry with such people, but it would be wiser to listen to them. Interesting that End knew very well that God spoke through 2 Michaiah, because when he spoke in favour of the King, finish came to scold him, demanding he tell the truth (verse 15).
When a person truly committed to God (not any false prophet) say something, you better listen. Place the case before God in prayer and ask your way. Be open to what God talk, even if it requires a radical change in his attitude, because that will bring you full and abundant life. Someone who only hear what you want ends very badly, like ahab, who died in battle for not having listened to the right person.

Livra-nos
Leitura bíblica: João 17.15-17
_________________

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen (Matthew 6.13).

The will of Jesus is that we are free from evil. This was the prayer that Jesus taught us in the Lord's prayer, and the prayer of Jesus for us when he said "that protect them from the evil one".
The Christian is the son of God and live for him. Does not belong to the world, it should not live as the world nor to the world. Your villa is in the world, but their identity should be different from that of the people of this world. We really need God's help to live free of evil in the world.
God cares about us and know that we will be tempted by the devil. You know that often do not resist falling into temptation. That's why he intercedes for us and want us to also pray for it. We never want to give up fight, accepting the world and evil as part of our life. Jesus makes it clear that we are in the world because we have a mission: to proclaim his message. For this he strengthens us, and away from the desire to serve the world, because we occupy in serving God. Jesus says in this prayer we are in the world so that the world may believe in his word. For this proclamation are sanctified. Holiness means two things: separated from, and separately for. We are separated from the world to be used by God.
Sometimes we think that the major challenges we face are the accounts payable, the illness or people that seem to compete with us for a space in our work. But the big challenge is to live in the midst of pressures and temptations that try to influence us gradually taking more and more our eyes from our true mission.
The final words of the father's prayer highlight the power of God saying: "thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory forever". We can be certain that God is able to deliver us from all evil. Someone said: "the place of the ship is the sea; But God help the ship the sea enter into it ".

Geração / Generation

Geração
Leitura bíblica: Rute 4.16-22
_________________
Escreva isto para as futuras gerações (Salmo 102.18a).
_________________

A ambos é necessário dispensar dedicação.

Generation
Bible Reading: Ruth 4.16-22
_________________
Write this down for future generations (Psalm 102.18).
_________________

The text read confirms that King David is not legendary, but existed. This record is important because he know the genealogy of Christ. Before all that Ruth and Naomi suffered, I wonder what they would say if they knew that their offspring would be born Christ, the saviour of the world?
God chose the generations that came before us and those who follow us for us to build the history of humanity, and are part of those which God gave to our care. As Christians, we are responsible both for the generation that preceded us as for our descendants. Both it is necessary to dispense with dedication. It's not easy to do this: take time, can prevent many plans and sometimes it costs our tranquility. Calls for resignation and decision. However, to have someone to take care of any generation, is God's gift. Many would like to have a life story to tell and not have, perhaps because at some point she lost when someone didn't know how to give value to the elderly or a child who was born.
What will be told about my ancestors or descendants depends on my actions today. Naomi knew consider the son of Ruth as his own and so took care of him (v. 16). Without thinking about legal issues, she dismissed love that child, in the same way that her daughter-in-law had done with her years before. How to respect and care for the elderly it is necessary to remember texts such as Leviticus 19.32 ("arise in the presence of the elderly, honor the elders"). Dispense with respect to older people is a sign of fear of the Lord. There is still, in texts like Exodus 20.12, alerts you to the care of the parents, including the promise of long life. In the case of the latter text, it is worth remembering that the word is given to adults and not to children. So the question remains: how have dealt with the generations that surround me, and what will be registered on the way dealt with the generations that followed?

Quando Deus cuida / When God takes care

Quando Deus cuida
Leitura bíblica: Jeremias 1.17-19
_________________

They will fight against you, but didn't win, for I am with you and protect you, saith the Lord (Jeremiah 1.19).

Be firm with God can mean sometimes a challenge, especially if you are also committed to sharing the Gospel. Sometimes, talking about the love of God can be something very satisfying to listeners who are hungry for God, but it can also be tough and provoke revolt in bitter hearts and rebels. In the latter case, when you have a belief that if you're performing this work with love, it will be important to remember that God has called you and you can also count on your care and direction.
Aware that are fragile and that our existence in this world is fleeting, will only be concluded victoriously missions has given even God, because only he can guarantee success in the face of adversity. So it was with the Prophet Jeremiah, who remained faithful to God in the face of all the challenges that were part of his mission. God the maintained exactly as promised. It is necessary to remember that, in most cases, people who reject God's voice are the most in need of our prayers and love are with the heart hardened by sin. Aware that the task is to advertise and not convincing at the insistence, the messengers and messengers of the love of God remain steadfast in their mission because they know that in God are safe. If talking about the love of God is a privilege, even bigger is that he takes care of our life. Perhaps you may think that because of that nothing will go wrong and that no adversity can disrupt your mission. No, that's not it. It means that God will be with you in adversity and win over her. Even if it is necessary to face the adversity of the Valley of the shadow of death (Psalm 23.4), God takes care of its own and will always be with you.
