No dia 24 de novembro de 1971, um homem hoje conhecido como D. B. Cooper sequestrou um avião comercial nos EUA ameaçando explodir o avião a menos que recebesse 200 mil dólares. Após pousar para receber o valor do resgate, ordenou que o avião decolasse novamente. Em seguida, a escada traseira do Boeing 727 foi abaixada e ele saltou de paraquedas na escuridão da noite. Ele nunca foi capturado e o caso ainda não foi resolvido. Este ato apressou a era da segurança aeroportuária, na qual a confiança foi substituída por suspeita e medo. O que ele fez afetou-nos indiscriminadamente.

A Bíblia descreve duas ações que transformaram o mundo de maneira muito mais significativa. Através da escolha de Adão, o pecado e a morte adentraram o mundo: “…assim também a morte passou a todos os homens, porque todos pecaram” (Romanos 5:12). Mas, através do sacrifício de Cristo na cruz, Deus proporcionou um remédio para o resultado do pecado. “Pois assim como, por uma só ofensa [de Adão], veio o juízo sobre todos os homens para condenação, assim também, por um só ato de justiça [de Cristo], veio a graça sobre todos os homens para a justificação que dá vida” (v.18).

Cristo fez o que ninguém mais podia fazer quando quebrou o poder do pecado e da morte por Sua ressurreição. Ele oferece perdão e vida eterna a todos os que aceitarem o Seu presente. E, por isso, nós lhe agradecemos de todo coração.

A cruz de Cristo pode livrar as almas da condenação que resultou da escolha de Adão.

On November 24, 1971, a man now known as d. b. Cooper hijacked a commercial airliner in the United States threatening to blow up the plane unless received 200 thousand dollars. After landing to receive the redemption value, ordered that the plane to take off again. Then the rear stairs of the Boeing 727 was lowered and he jumped to parachute in the darkness of night. He was never captured and the case has not yet been resolved. This Act would hasten the era of airport security, in which the trust was replaced by suspicion and fear. What he did has affected us indiscriminately.

The Bible describes two actions that transformed the world much more significant. Through the choice of Adam, Sin and death entered the world: "… so death spread to all men, because all sinned" (Romans 5:12). But, through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, God provided a remedy for the result of sin. "Therefore, as through one man's offense [Adam], judgment came to all men to condemnation, even so through one man's righteous Act [Christ] the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life" (v. 18).

Christ did what no one else could do when broke the power of sin and death for his resurrection. He offers forgiveness and eternal life to all who accept your gift. And therefore we thank you whole heartedly.

The cross of Christ can rid the souls of the conviction that resulted from the choice of Adam.

Recentemente, meu pai completou 90 anos e suas capacidades físicas estão diminuindo. Ele ainda consegue locomover-se usando um andador, mas necessita de alguém para preparar suas refeições e ajudá-lo com outras tarefas.

Meu irmão mais velho, Estêvão, e sua esposa Judite, que moravam próximo a ele, decidiram mudar-se para a casa de papai para cuidar dele. Desejando ajudar de alguma maneira, minha esposa e eu atravessamos o país para ajudar um pouco cuidando dele, enquanto meu irmão e sua esposa viajavam por algum tempo. Apreciamos passar aquele tempo com meu pai e ficamos felizes em aliviar a carga de meu irmão e cunhada — ainda que por poucos dias.

A Bíblia diz para honrar “…teu pai e tua mãe…” (Efésios 6:2). Um comentário do Novo Testamento diz que honrar alguém é “tratá-lo com a deferência, respeito, reverência, gentileza, cortesia e obediência que a situação… exige”.

Para crianças pequenas, isso significa obedecer aos pais. Para adolescentes, indica demonstrar respeito pelos pais, mesmo que pensem saber mais do que eles. Para jovens adultos, significa incluir os pais em suas vidas. E, para os de meia-idade ou mais, significa certificar-se de que os pais recebem os cuidados necessários ao envelhecer ou quando a saúde diminui.

De que maneira você pode honrar seus pais esta semana?

Recently, my father completed 90 years and their physical abilities are diminishing. He still manages to get around using a Walker, but needs someone to prepare your meals and assist with other tasks.

My older brother, Stephen, and his wife Judith, who lived next to it, decided to move to the home of dad to care for him. Desiring to help in any way, my wife and I are going through the country to help a little caring for him, while my brother and his wife traveled for some time. We spend that time with my father and we are happy to lighten the load of my brother and sister-in-law — albeit for a few days.

The Bible says to honor "… your father and your mother ..." (Ephesians 6: 2). A comment of the New Testament says that honor someone is "treat it with the deference, respect, reverence, kindness, courtesy and obedience which the situation … requires".

For small children, this means meet the parents. For teenagers, indicates demonstrate respect for parents, even if you think know more than them. For young adults, means include parents in their lives. And, for the middle-aged or older, means making sure that parents receive the necessary care to ageing or when health decreases.

That way you can honour their parents this week?

Em uma viagem ao exterior, encontrei um advogado da minha cidade em Nova Jersey, EUA. Ficamos surpresos com o quanto tínhamos em comum. Durante a conversa, ele perguntou: “Você disse que seu nome é Stillwell?” Eu disse: “Não, é Stowell”. Então, ele mencionou que tinha tido um cliente chamado Stillwell. “É Art Stillwell?”, perguntei-lhe — e, para minha surpresa, ele disse que sim. Art Stillwell frequentava minha igreja e era um homem de negócios influente na comunidade.

O advogado admitiu não ter tido outro cliente como Art. Ele explicou que a maioria dos seus clientes quer que ele faça todo o possível para livrá-los dos seus problemas, mas Art era diferente. Sempre que ele perguntava a Art o que deveria fazer em qualquer situação específica, Art respondia: “Faça apenas o que é certo”. Obviamente, isso havia impressionado o advogado.

Submeter-se a Cristo em todos os nossos desejos e decisões, independente do resultado, é o que nos diferencia em um mundo repleto de pessoas consumidas por seus próprios interesses. Quando levamos uma vida inocente “inculpável” — refletindo corajosamente a integridade, o amor e a graça de Jesus —, claramente “…resplandecemos como luzeiros no mundo” (Filipenses 2:15).

Assim, se você deseja iluminar seu mundo de maneira convincente, faça apenas o que é certo!

Ilumine seu mundo refletindo a luz de Jesus.

On a trip abroad, found a lawyer of my city in New Jersey, USA. We were surprised at how much we had in common. During the conversation, he asked: "You said that your name is Stillwell?" I said: "no, it is Stowell". Then he mentioned that had a client called Stillwell. "It is Art Stillwell?", asked him — and, to my surprise, he said yes. Art Stillwell frequented my church and was an influential businessman in the community.

The lawyer admitted not having had another client as Art. He explained that most of your customers want it to do everything possible to rid them of their problems, but Art was different. Whenever he asked Art what should do in any particular situation, Art answered: "just do what is right". Obviously this had impressed the lawyer.

Submit to Christ in all our desires and decisions, regardless of the outcome, is what sets us apart in a world full of people consumed by their own interests. When we take an innocent life "unblemished" — reflecting bravely integrity, love and grace of Jesus — clearly "… We have shone as lamp in the world" (Philippians 2:15).

So, if you want to illuminate your world convincingly, just do what is right!

Illuminate your world reflecting the light of Jesus.

Затем он упомянул, что клиент под названием Стилвелл. «Это искусство Стилвелл?», спросил его, и, к моему удивлению, он сказал, да. Искусство Стилвелл посещают церковь мою и был влиятельным бизнесменом в общине.

Адвокат признал, не имея другого клиента как искусство. Он пояснил, что большинство ваших клиентов хотят это сделать все возможное избавить их от их проблем, но искусство было различным. Всякий раз, когда он спросил искусства, что следует делать в любой конкретной ситуации, искусство ответил: «просто делать то, что это право». Очевидно, что это впечатление адвоката.

Представить Христа во всех наших желаний и решения, независимо от результатов, какие наборы нас в мир полный людей, потребляемых их собственные интересы. Когда мы принимаем «безупречной» невинных людей — смело отражающих целостности, любовь и благодать Иисуса — явно "... resplandecemos как luzeiros в мире" (Филиппийцам 2: 15).

Таким образом если вы хотите осветить ваш мир убедительно, просто делать то, что это правильно!

Um estudo realizado por pesquisadores da Universidade de Minnesota revelou que quase 15 por cento dos adolescentes dos EUA sentiam ser “altamente provável” que morreriam antes de completarem 35 anos. Aqueles que expressavam essa visão pessimista tinham maior probabilidade de engajar-se em comportamento imprudente. A Dra. Iris Borowsky, autora deste estudo publicado em renomada revista disse: “Estes jovens podem correr riscos porque se sentem desanimados e acham que não há muito a perder.”

Ninguém é imune a sentimentos de desespero. O salmo expressa repetidos pedidos de ajuda quando a vida parece tenebrosa. “Por que estás abatida, ó minha alma? Por que te perturbas dentro de mim? Espera em Deus, pois ainda o louvarei, a ele, meu auxílio…” (Salmo 42:5). Com um passo de fé, desafiador, o salmista diz a si mesmo para não esquecer-se de Deus, que nunca o abandonará.

Curtis Almquist escreveu: “A esperança é alimentada pela presença de Deus. …[Ela] também é alimentada pelo futuro de Deus nas nossas vidas.” Podemos dizer com o salmista: “…ainda o louvarei…” (v.5).

Nenhum seguidor de Cristo deve relutar em buscar conselho contra a depressão. Também não devemos sentir que a fé e a oração são simples demais para ajudar. Sempre existe esperança em Deus!

Para o cristão, a esperança é uma certeza — porque o seu fundamento é Cristo.

A study conducted by researchers at the University of Minnesota showed that almost 15 percent of U.S. teens felt to be "highly probable" that would die before the age of 35 years. Those who expressed this pessimistic view had a higher probability of engaging in reckless behavior. The Dra. Iris Borowsky, author of this study published in the renowned magazine said: "These young people may take risks because they feel discouraged and feel that there's not much to lose."

Nobody is immune to feelings of despair. The Psalm expressed repeated requests for help when life seems frightening. "Why are you dejected, o my soul? Why disturb you inside me? Waiting on God, because even the praise, he, my aid ... " (Psalm 42: 5). With a step of faith, challenging, the psalmist says yourself not to forget the God who never abandons.

Curtis Almquist wrote: "the hope is nourished by the presence of God. …[She] also is fed by the future of God in our lives. " We can say with the psalmist: "... even the praise …" (v. 5).

No follower of Christ should be reluctant to seek Council against depression. Nor should we feel that faith and prayer are too simple to help. There is always hope in God!

For the Christian, hope is a certainty — because its Foundation is Christ.

Не последователем Христа должно быть неохотно обращаются за Советом против депрессии. Не должны мы считаем, что веры и молитвы, слишком просто, чтобы помочь. Есть всегда надежда в Бога!

Для христианина, надежда, уверенность, потому что его основания – Христос.
