Esaú desprezou o seu
direito de filho mais velho (Gênesis 25.34c).

O relato de hoje foi um cumprimento do plano de
Deus (v 23), mas podemos tirar algumas lições da vida de Esaú, um homem cuja
visão não se estendia além das margens limitadas das necessidades imediatas.
Tendo
o suficiente para comer hoje, por que se incomodar com o amanhã e ter ambições
maiores? Se ele tivesse considerado o privilégio que os primogênitos tinham em
seu ambiente, decerto não venderia tão levianamente a sua herança inigualável
por um prato de ensopado vermelho! Ele teria posição de honra em sua
família e, após a morte do pai, seria o novo chefe e administrador do
patrimônio familiar, cuja parte maior lhe pertenceria. O título de primogênito
envolvia tudo isso, porém os olhos limitados de Esaú não puderam ver nem
apreciar sua beleza.
Verificando
sua atitude, observamos que ele tem um grande número de seguidores, que vivem
para o hoje, esquecendo-se do amanhã: homens e mulheres criados à imagem de
Deus para um propósito elevado e nobre, mas vivendo apenas para satisfazer o
estômago e os prazeres momentâneos, contentando-se nisso.
Que
juízo faríamos dos pais que consideram como único dever alimentar e vestir os
filhos que Deus lhes confiou para cuidar? Simplesmente deixam que os anos da
meninice corram, sem plantar a semente do caráter nos seus tenros corações nem
fazer quaisquer esforços para educá-los para as tarefas de que Deus os
encarregará nos anos vindouros. Não pensariam nos seus próprios deveres para
com as próximas gerações. Cada serviço prestado a uma criança é a semente de um
futuro útil, feliz e próspero que está sendo lançada em terreno fértil.
Portanto,
não seja como Esaú, que se preocupou apenas com sua necessidade imediata, mas
invista na sua vida e na de seus filhos para que eles também não sigam a grande
parcela da população que pensa e age usufruindo os prazeres transitórios do que
desagrada a Deus. (MM)

The report today was a
fulfillment of the plan of God (v. 23), but we can draw some lessons from the
life of Esau, a man whose vision extended beyond the limited margins of
immediate needs.
Having enough to eat today, why bother with the
tomorrow and have bigger ambitions? If he had considered the privilege that the
firstborn had in your environment, certainly wouldn't sell his inheritance so
lightly unmatched by a dish of stewed Red! He would have honored position in
her family and, after her father's death, would be the new Chief and
administrator of family patrimony, whose largest part belongs to him. The title
of firstborn involved all of this, however the limited eyes Esau could not see
or appreciate its beauty.
Checking your attitude, we observe that it has a
large number of followers, living for today, forgetting of tomorrow: men and
women created in the image of God for a high and noble purpose, but living just
to satisfy the stomach and the momentary pleasures, settling on it.
That judgment would make the parents which they
regard as only duty feed and clothe the children that God has entrusted to them
to take care of? Simply let the years of childhood run without plant the seed
of character in their tender hearts nor make any effort to educate them for
tasks that God the will in the years to come. Wouldn't think in their own
duties to future generations. Each service provided to a child is the seed of a
useful, happy and prosperous future that is being thrown on fertile ground.
So don't be like Esau, who cared only for their
immediate need, but invest in their life and that of their children so that
they also do not follow the large portion of the population that thinks and
acts enjoying the transient pleasures which displeases God. (MM)
The wise focuses on what is
permanent and not just the transient.
