Lei ou graça? / Law or grace?

Lei ou graça? Leitura bíblica: João 5.41-47 _________________ O Filho do homem veio buscar e salvar o que estava perdido (Lucas 19.10). _________________

Nos dias atuais, as notícias correm depressa. Algo ruim acontece conosco e logo todos estão sabendo. O conhecimento que Deus tem de nossos atos é mais rápido ainda. Da mesma forma que pensamos antes de tomar alguma atitude, Deus já sabe o que faremos antes de praticarmos tanto o bem como o mal. No texto de hoje, Jesus está falando com um grupo de judeus que o criticavam por curar no sábado. Eles ouvem um aviso sério: “Eu conheço vocês”. Isto serve para cada um de nós. Jesus também afirma que eles aceitavam glória uns dos outros.

Hoje, ao ler notícias sobre atletas e políticos vemos como os homens se autoglorificam. Se analisarmos nosso comportamento, também podemos cometer este erro – mesmo que seja só em pensamento. Aqueles homens gloriavam-se por cumprir a Lei dada por Deus aos israelitas. Mas a verdade é que nenhum deles conseguiu praticá-la totalmente. Os mandamentos deixam bem claro o que agrada ou não ao Senhor e mostram o fracasso humano em obter vida eterna por seu próprio esforço.

A Palavra de Deus revela quem realmente somos e que, de fato, não temos motivos para nos orgulhar de nossos feitos. Porém, apesar de mostrar que somos indesculpáveis diante de Deus e que merecemos a condenação, a Bíblia também transborda da graça divina – tanto o Antigo como o Novo Testamento. Há um caminho seguro até o Pai: Jesus. Quem confia nele e compreende o sacrifício de Cristo na cruz percebe que é preciso mudar a direção de sua vida. Isso inclui arrepender-se de tudo o que desagrada a Deus e voltar-se a ele, pedindo seu perdão. O resultado é vida nova (transformada) com Deus agora e também na eternidade.

Diante de tudo isso, qual a sua situação? Vai agir como aqueles judeus que teimavam em colocar sua esperança em seus próprios esforços? Ou vai reconhecer que Cristo foi enviado pelo Pai e entregar sua vida a ele? (MJT/VWR)

Law or grace? Bible reading: John 5.41-47 _________________ The son of man came to seek and to save what was lost (Luke 19.10). _________________

In the present day, news travels fast. Something bad happens to us and soon everyone knowing. The knowledge that God has of our actions is faster still. Similarly we think before taking any attitude, God already knows what we do before we practice the good with the evil. In today's text, Jesus is talking to a group of Jews that criticized by heal on Saturday. They hear a serious warning: "I know you". This is for each of us. Jesus also States that they accept each other's glory.

Today, when reading news about athletes and politicians see as men glorify themselves. If we analyze our behavior, we can also make this mistake – even if it's just in my head. Those men boasted by fulfilling the law given by God to the Israelites. But the truth is that none of them could practise it fully. The commandments make it very clear what pleases or not the Lord and show the human failure in obtaining eternal life by his own effort.

The word of God reveals who we really are and that, in fact, we have no reason to be proud of our accomplishments. However, in spite of showing that we are without excuse before God and we deserve the condemnation, the Bible also overflows of divine grace – both the old and the New Testament. There is a safe way to the Father: Jesus. Who trusts him and understand Christ's sacrifice on the cross realizes that we need to change the direction of your life. This includes regret everything that displeases God and turn to him, asking for his forgiveness. The result is new life (transformed) with God now and in eternity.

Before all this, what's your status? Will act as those Jews who insisted on putting their hope in their own efforts? Or will recognize that Christ was sent by the father and surrender your life to him? (MJT/VWR)

The law points out what displeases God; Divine grace gives us the opportunity to please you.

Oração / Prayer

Oração Leitura bíblica: Salmo 25.1-5 _________________  A ti, Senhor, elevo a minha alma (Salmo 25.1). _________________

Provavelmente você já planejou algo em sua vida a respeito do qual você estava bastante esperançoso. Contudo, aquilo que tinha tudo para dar certo não saiu como você esperava. Às vezes surgem dificuldades em decorrência de situações assim para as quais você não tem resposta. O que fazer? Podemos procurar uma solução rápida, mas nem sempre ela existe.

Diante disso, creio que muitas das dificuldades que surgem em nossa vida são oportunidades que Deus nos dá. Talvez você proteste e diga que oportunidades têm caráter positivo e não negativo. Exatamente! As dificuldades nem sempre são negativas, mas podem ser um instrumento de Deus para que nós o busquemos em oração. No salmo que você acabou de ler, Davi menciona seus inimigos e pede que Deus lhe mostre o caminho, pois precisava de orientação diante da situação que estava vivendo. A dificuldade o fez voltar-se para Deus e buscá-lo em oração.

No momento em que escrevo este texto estou tentando solucionar um problema. As duas primeiras opções que eu tinha para este caso caíram por terra. Procuro por uma saída, mas aparentemente não a encontro. Assim, não me resta muito a fazer – a não ser o mais importante: colocar-me diante de Deus em oração. Assim como Davi afirmou com convicção, também creio que aqueles que esperam no Senhor não ficarão decepcionados. Mesmo que ainda não saiba por qual caminho Deus irá guiar minha questão, sei que ele não deixará de agir e de fazer o melhor.

Não sei quais são as dificuldades que você enfrenta em sua vida. Contudo, quero convidá-lo a voltar-se para Deus neste momento. Ele irá ajudá-lo. Talvez surja uma solução de onde você menos espera. Deus nos surpreende muitas vezes, se tão somente aprendermos a buscá-lo e confiar nele. Coloque sua esperança no Senhor. Ele não o decepcionará, pois age para o seu bem. (MP)

 

A solução é voltar-se para Deus! Somente ele tem a resposta que você procura.

Prayer Bible reading: Psalm 25.1-5 _________________ To thee, o Lord, I lift my soul (Psalm 25.1). _________________

Probably you already planned something in your life for which you were quite hopeful. However, that had everything to work did not come out as you expected. Sometimes difficulties arise as a result of situations for which you have no answer. What to do? We can find a quick solution, but not always it exists.

Given this, I believe that many of the difficulties that arise in our life are opportunities that God gives us. Maybe you protest and say that opportunities are non-negative and positive character. Exactly! The difficulties are not always negative, but may be an instrument of God for which we seek in prayer. In Psalm that you just read, David mentions his enemies and asks God to show you the path, because it needed guidance on the situation that was living. The difficulty did turn to God and pick you up in prayer.

At the time I write this text I am trying to solve a problem. The first two options I had for this case fell to the ground. I'm looking for a way out, but apparently not the date. So, I don't have much to do – but more important: put me in front of God in prayer. As David said with conviction, I also believe that those who hope in the Lord will not be disappointed. Even if you don't yet know which way God will guide my question, I know he will not fail to act and to do the best.

I don't know what are the difficulties that you face in your life. However, I would like to invite you to turn to God at this time. He will help you. Maybe there is a solution where you least expect it. God surprises us often, if only we learn to fetch him and trust him. Put your hope in the Lord. He didn't disappoint, because acts for your own good. (MP)

The solution is to turn to God. Only he has the answer you seek.

Profetas / Prophets

Profetas Leitura bíblica: Deuteronômio 13.1-11 _________________ Não tratem com desprezo as profecias, mas ponham à prova todas as coisas e fiquem com o que é bom (1 Tessalonicenses 5.20-21). _________________

Desde a antiguidade a Bíblia traz advertências contra falsos profetas ou pregadores. O texto da leitura de hoje é uma delas e ela serve também de alerta para os nossos dias.

Os primeiros dois versículos do texto levam em conta que as predições de um falso profeta até podem vir a realizar-se. Portanto, o cumprimento de uma predição não é sinônimo de credibilidade do profeta e o caráter dele não deve ser julgado por esse critério. O que importa é a persuasão que o profeta exerce após o cumprimento da sua predição. Se, depois de esta se cumprir, o profeta persuadir o povo a se apegar a Deus, está tudo bem.  Contudo, se ele induzir o povo a adorar algo que não seja o Deus verdadeiro, aquilo o desqualifica e não se deve dar atenção a ele. Deus poderá, porém, utilizá-lo para testar a nossa fidelidade.

Infelizmente há muitos pregadores “profetizando” que vai acontecer isto, isso e aquilo, e muitas vezes suas previsões  até se cumprem. Entretanto, na maioria das vezes, tais resultados não fazem as pessoas se apegar a Deus, mas ao pregador. A Bíblia oferece um exemplo desse tipo na pessoa de Simão, o mágico (Atos 8.9-24). Tudo ali girava em torno dele, e era a ele, Simão, que se dava importância. Fica bastante claro ali que esse era o seu principal interesse, mas suas próprias falsas intenções acabaram por desmascará-lo.

Portanto, não se impressione se algum pregador começar a predizer algo e tais coisas acontecerem. O que importa é se por meio daquilo as pessoas se apegarão mais a Deus. Um profeta autêntico assumirá a atitude expressa por João Batista em João 3.30: "É necessário que ele (Jesus) cresça e que eu diminua". (MM )

Profecias são indicadores autênticos se apontarem para o Senhor.

Prophets Bible reading: Deuteronomy 13.1-11 _________________ Do not treat prophecies with contempt, but put to the test all things and keep what is good (1 Thessalonians 5.20-21). _________________

Since antiquity the Bible brings warnings against false prophets or preachers. The text of the reading today is one of them and she also serves to alert our days.

The first two verses of the text to take into account that the predictions of a false prophet may come true. So, the fulfillment of a prediction is not synonymous with credibility of the Prophet and his character should not be judged by this criterion. What matters is the persuasion that the Prophet carries after the fulfillment of their prediction. If, after this meet, the Prophet to persuade the people to cling to God, everything is fine. However, if he induce the people to worship anything other than the true God, that disqualify him and not paying attention to him. God can, however, use it to test our fidelity.

Unfortunately there are many preachers "prophesying" what's going to happen this, this and that, and often your predictions until they comply. However, in most cases, these results don't make people cling to God, but to the preacher. The Bible offers an example of this type in the person of Simon the magician (Acts 24-8.9). Everything there revolved around him, and it was to him, Simon, that was important. It is quite clear that this was his main interest, but their own false pretenses eventually exposes him.

So do not impress if any preacher begin to predict something and such things happen. What matters is whether by means of people will cling more to God. An authentic Prophet will assume the attitude expressed by John the Baptist in John 3.30: "it is necessary that he (Jesus) increase, but I must decrease." (MM)

Prophecies are authentic indicators if pointing to the Lord.
