Balanço Leitura bíblica: Daniel 5.18-31  _________________ Foste pesado na balança e achado em falta (Daniel 5.27). _________________

Com a queda do movimento na virada do ano, muitas empresas aproveitam esse período para fazer o balanço de sua contabilidade. Durante este processo, faz-se o levantamento de todas as mercadorias existentes nas prateleiras e no depósito, como também de todas as vendas efetuadas no último ano, das despesas pagas e das contas a receber e a pagar. Cruzando todos esses dados, a empresa pode concluir se houve um bom lucro, se o ganho foi razoável ou ainda se ficou no prejuízo. De igual modo, é interessante fazer um balanço da nossa vida de tempos em tempos, estabelecendo alvos e metas, esforçando-se para alcançá-los e depois verificando se foram atingidos.

Na leitura bíblica de hoje, o rei babilônico Belsazar é confrontado por Deus, por meio do profeta Daniel, a respeito de como conduziu sua vida. Sua vida é passada no balanço de Deus e achada em falta. Mas, afinal, o que causou esse prejuízo na vida de Belsazar? Mesmo sabendo o que Deus tinha feito na vida de seu antecessor Nabucodonosor, Belsazar não se humilhou e adorou a ídolos que não tinham valor algum. Nabucodonosor também tinha sido orgulhoso e foi castigado por isso, mas no fim acabou aceitando a repreensão e reconheceu a soberania de Deus (Daniel 4). O veredito sobre Belsazar foi diferente: para ele, chegara o fim. Não havia como recuperar o prejuízo.

Quando fazemos um balanço periódico da nossa vida, podemos detectar em tempo os problemas que precisam ser corrigidos para que nossas vidas continuem agradando a Deus. A Bíblia sempre nos oferece as orientações necessárias, e todas elas podem ser resumidas em uma diretriz muito simples: “Façam tudo para a glória de Deus”. (1 Coríntios 10.31b). Dessa forma, o veredito final de Deus sobre nossas vidas não será o versículo em destaque, mas outro bem diferente: “Muito bem, servo bom e fiel! Venha e participe da alegria do seu senhor!” (Mateus 25.21)

With the fall of the movement at the turn of the year, many companies take advantage of this period to take stock of its accounts. During this process, a survey of all existing goods on shelves and in storage, as well as all sales made in the last year, the expenditure paid and accounts receivable and payable. Crossing all this data, the company can conclude whether there has been a good profit, if the gain was unreasonable or was still in prejudice. Similarly, it is interesting to take stock of our lives from time to time, setting targets and goals, striving to achieve them and after verifying that were hit.

In today's scriptural reading, the Babylonian King Belshazzar is confronted by God through the Prophet Daniel, as to how led his life. Your life is passed in God balance and found wanting. But, after all, what caused the damage in the life of Belshazzar. Even though I knew what God had done in the life of his predecessor Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar not humbled himself and loved the idols that had no value at all. Nebuchadnezzar had also been proud and was punished for it, but in the end accepted the reprimand and recognized the sovereignty of God (Daniel 4). The verdict on Belshazzar was different: for him, the end had arrived. There was no way to recover the loss.

When we do a periodic balance of our life, we can detect in time the problems that need to be fixed so that our lives keep pleasing to God. The Bible always offers us the necessary guidelines, and all of them can be summarized in a very simple guideline: "Do all for the glory of God". (1 Corinthians 10.31 b). In this way, the final verdict of God on our lives will not be the featured verse, but another quite different: "well done, good and faithful servant! Come and join in the joy of your Lord. " (25.21)

Assim Leitura bíblica: Salmo 142.1-7  _________________ O Senhor é a minha rocha, a minha fortaleza e o meu libertador (...) em quem me refugio (Salmo 18.2). _________________

O salmo 142 é uma oração. Não é uma oração cheia de protocolos e meras palavras bonitas – apesar da beleza poética no salmo. Também não é uma fórmula mágica para ser repetida. É uma oração na qual a alma afligida pela pressão é derramada diante de Deus. Sentimentos confusos são expostos, emoções fortes se pronunciam. Não é uma oração contida, serena. Não! Ela é feita em alta voz. É um brado, um grito, um pedido de socorro de quem já não aguenta mais. Você já se sentiu assim?

Na era dos relacionamentos líquidos e superficiais, que resultam em vínculos tênues, fica cada vez mais raro encontrar quem nos ouça atentamente. O salmista se expressa quase como uma criança – essa que mora dentro da gente e, às vezes, se manifesta quando nosso ser adulto se distrai – e diz algo como: “ninguém liga pra mim” (v 4). Há momentos na vida em que, mesmo racionalmente sabendo que algo não é real, nosso sentimento aponta para outra direção. A sensação era de total solidão, como se ninguém no mundo se importasse com o que ele está passando. Você já se sentiu assim?

Davi foi um homem contraditório, cometeu muitos erros, colecionou incontáveis inimigos. Talvez ele seja uma boa imagem da incoerência humana presente em todos nós. Mas há algo admirável nele: sua capacidade de expor-se, de abrir o coração e derramar a alma diante de Deus. Ele reconhece que, de fato, Deus é tudo o que ele tem no mundo, e que é o seu refúgio. Em meio às tormentas da vida há tantos “lugares” impróprios onde se refugiar – nas atitudes extremas, no sexo desenfreado, na dependência química, na “piração” ou na religiosidade neurótica. Davi escolheu refugiar-se em Deus e derramar sua alma cansada diante dele, sendo acolhido pelo Deus que jamais se afasta de nós e experimentou sua bondade e sentiu sua alma renovar-se e fortalecer-se. Você também pode se sentir assim!

Like this Bible reading: Psalm 142.1-7  _________________ The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer (...) in whom I take refuge (Psalm 18.2). _________________

Psalm 142 is a prayer. It's not a prayer full of protocols and mere pretty words-despite the poetic beauty in Psalm. Nor is it a magic formula to be repeated. Is a prayer in which the soul distressed by the pressure is poured before God. Mixed feelings are exposed, strong emotions themselves. It's not a prayer contained, easy. No! It is made in a loud voice. Is a call, a cry, a cry for help who can't take it anymore. Have you ever felt like that?

In the era of net and superficial relationships, resulting in blurred links, becomes increasingly rare to find who we listen carefully. The psalmist expresses himself almost as a child – one that lives within us and sometimes manifests itself when our being an adult get distracted – and says something like: "nobody cares for me" (v 4). There are moments in life that even rationally knowing that something is real, our feeling points to another direction. The feeling was total solitude, as if no one in the world cared about what he's going through. Have you ever felt like that?

David was a contradictory man, made a lot of mistakes, collected innumerable enemies. Maybe it is a good picture of the human present inconsistency in all of us. But there is something admirable about him: his ability to expose, to open your heart and pour the soul before God. It recognizes that, in fact, God is all he has in the world, and that is your refuge. Amidst the storms of life there are so many "inappropriate" places where refuge – in extreme attitudes, rampant sex, in chemical dependency, on "insane" or neurotic religiosity. David chose to take refuge in God and shed your weary soul in front of him, being greeted by God that never turns away from us and experienced his kindness and felt her soul renew and strengthen you can also feel that way.

Mensagem na olaria / Message in pottery

Mensagem na olaria Leitura bíblica: Jeremias 18.1-11  _________________ Como barro nas mãos do oleiro, assim são vocês nas minhas mãos (Jeremias 18.6b). _________________

É interessante observar os recursos didáticos de Deus para apresentar grandes verdades. No texto bíblico para meditação de hoje encontramos Deus enviando o profeta Jeremias até uma olaria, onde haveria uma mensagem para ele.

Chegando lá, o profeta viu o artesão trabalhando no barro, tentando fazer um vaso. Viu que o vaso de barro se estragava nas suas mãos, e como do mesmo barro ele moldava outro vaso, conforme queria. Deus aplicou então essa ilustração para mostrar ao profeta e a nós que poderia agir da mesma forma conosco. 

Não sabemos por que o vaso de barro se estragou nas mãos do oleiro, mas certamente sabemos a razão dos nossos próprios fracassos – afinal, somos nós mesmos que decidimos como vamos conduzir nossa vida. De vez em quando nos metemos em apuros só por causa da nossa teimosia em querermos fazer a nossa própria vontade, e o resultado é um projeto quebrado como aquele vaso. Contudo, não é isso que Deus deseja para nós. Ele deseja sempre o nosso bem-estar, conforme deixou claro no final da leitura bíblica.

No texto lido, Deus diz que pode decretar a falência de uma nação, povo ou reino devido à sua perversidade, mas se aquela gente se converter da sua maldade, ele pode mudar de atitude e deixar de cumprir a sua sentença. Deus é soberano sobre as nações e cada um de nós, não como um déspota, mas como um rei benevolente e sensível à possibilidade do arrependimento. Seu propósito não é simplesmente descartar o que se estragou, mas aproveitar tudo aquilo para criar algo novo e bom.

Assim sendo, a culpa pelo nosso fracasso não é de Deus; o problema está na nossa teimosia, desobediência e perversidade. Portanto, é necessário permitir que Deus aplique sua bondade e misericórdia para remodelar a nossa vida como o oleiro fez com o vaso, restaurando-a.

Message in pottery Bible reading: Jeremiah 18.1-11  _________________ As clay in the Potter's hand, so are you in my hands (Jeremiah 18.6b). _________________

It is interesting to note the resources of God to present great truths. In the biblical text for meditation today we find God sending the Prophet Jeremiah to a pottery, where there would be a message to him.

Once there, the Prophet saw the artisan working in the mud, trying to make a vase. He saw that the clay pot if the mood in your hands, and how the same clay he other Moldavian vase, as wanted. God applied so this illustration to show the Prophet and the nodes that could act in the same way with us.

We don't know why clay vase broke in the hands of the Potter, but we certainly know the reason of our own failures – after all, we are ourselves we decided how we lead our lives. Once in a while we get in trouble just because of our stubborn in wanting to make our own free will, and the result is a broken design as that vase. However, that's not what God wants for us. He'd always our well-being, as made clear by the end of the biblical reading.

The text read, God says he can enact the bankruptcy of a nation, people or Kingdom due to their wickedness, but if those people convert their wickedness, he might change his attitude and fail to comply with his sentence. God is sovereign over the Nations and each one of us, not as a despot, but like a benevolent King and sensitive to the possibility of repentance. Its purpose is not simply to discard what's screwed up, but take advantage of all that to create something new and good.

Therefore, the blame for our failure is not of God; the problem is in our stubbornness, disobedience and evil. Therefore, it is necessary to allow God to apply his goodness and mercy to reshape our life as the Potter did to the vase, by restoring it.

Construção / Construction.

Construção Leitura bíblica: 1 Reis 6.1-38  _________________ Vocês não sabem que são santuário de Deus e que o Espírito de Deus habita em vocês? (1 Coríntios 3.16) _________________

Hoje lemos como Salomão construiu um templo para o Senhor, cumprindo a palavra dada a Davi em 1 Reis 5.5: “Seu filho, a quem colocarei no trono em seu lugar, construirá o templo em honra ao meu nome”. Note a cláusula essencial que Deus incluiu para que tudo andasse bem: “Se você seguir os meus decretos" (verso 12).

Ao dar a Salomão a incumbência de edificar o templo, Deus o alerta a manter-se fiel a ele. Salomão não só seguiu essas instruções, como cuidou de muitos detalhes para erguer uma obra magnífica, digna do Senhor, tomando todo o tempo necessário para isso. Foram sete anos.

Deus é nosso Criador, nos dá o sopro da vida, um tempo para vivê-la e, por meio de Jesus Cristo, um alicerce firme para construir nela uma obra que o glorifique (veja sobre isso na Bíblia 1 Coríntios 3.9-15).  Assim como instruiu Salomão a seguir seus decretos, ele dá também a nós um manual para executarmos bem a nossa obra e podermos ter uma vida útil e em sintonia com seus propósitos: a Bíblia. Temos para isso o período desde a infância até a morte.

Enfrentamos, porém, em nossos dias um mundo que nos pressiona a correr e nos sobrecarrega de ideias e exigências. Assim, às vezes nos confundimos e desviamos o rumo de nossa vida, atrasando a edificação que Deus quer erigir. Ele nos criou para adorá-lo, quer o melhor para nós e não comete erros. É o engenheiro perfeito e também trabalha incessantemente, conforme declara Jesus em João 5.17.

Não sabemos exatamente qual o tempo que temos de vida - talvez mais dez anos, dez meses ou dez minutos, mas temos a oportunidade única de permitir que Deus transforme a nossa vida, cuidando de todos os detalhes, suprindo todas as necessidades. Que tal fazer parte dessa construção? Pode levar um tempo para ficar de acordo com os padrões exigidos por Deus, mas se permanecermos fieis, ele nos recompensará.

Construction Bible reading: 1 Kings 6.1-38  _________________ You don't know which are sanctuary of God and that the spirit of God dwelleth in you? (1 Corinthians 3.16) _________________

Today we read as Solomon built a temple for the Lord, fulfilling the promises to David in 1 Kings 5.5: "Your son, who put on the throne in his place, will build the Temple in honor of my name". Note the essential clause that God included so that everything went well: "If you follow my decrees" (verse 12).

To give Solomon to build the temple, God the warning to stay faithful to him. Solomon not only followed these instructions, how to take care of many details for building a magnificent work, worthy of the Lord, taking all the time you need for that. It was seven years ago.

God is our Creator, gives us the breath of life, a time to live it and, through Jesus Christ, a firm foundation to build her a work that glorify (see about it in the Bible 1 Corinthians 15-3.9). As instructed to follow your decrees, Solomon he also gives us a manual to perform our work and that we can have a useful life and in keeping with their purpose: the Bible. We have for this period from childhood to death.

We face, however, in our days a world presses running and overloads of ideas and requirements. So, sometimes we confuse and divert the course of our life, delaying building that God wants to erect. He created us to worship him, wants the best for us and not make mistakes. It's the perfect engineer and also works unceasingly, as declaring Jesus in John 5.17.

We don't know exactly how long would we have to life-maybe another ten years, ten months and ten minutes, but we have a unique opportunity to allow God to transform our lives, taking care of all the details, supplying every need. How about being part of this construction? It may take a while to be in accordance with the standards required by God, but if we remain faithful, he will reward us.

Louve! / Praise!

Louve! Leitura bíblica: Lucas 2.8-20  _________________ Cantem ao Senhor, bendigam o seu nome; cada dia proclamem a sua salvação! (Salmo 96.2) _________________

O nascimento de Jesus foi comemorado com louvor a Deus tanto pela multidão de anjos quanto pelos pastores que viram o bebê, como lemos hoje. Na época em que comemoramos o Natal, canções natalinas são cantadas e ouvidas em várias partes do mundo – mas quantos de fato estão louvando a Deus? Quantos o glorificam porque um dia ele enviou seu Filho para morrer em nosso lugar, possibilitando o acesso do ser humano a Deus? Para muitos, infelizmente, cantar no Natal é um hábito, apenas.

Aqueles pastores tiveram o privilégio de receber a boa notícia em primeira mão – e por um anjo! Ainda sob o impacto de visão tão gloriosa, eles correram para ver o acontecido. O Rei nascera, mas não como as pessoas esperavam. Não foi aos poderosos que isso foi anunciado, mas a simples e desprezados pastores. Não foi num palácio que o encontraram, mas num lugar até inapropriado a um recém-nascido: junto aos animais, tendo uma manjedoura como berço.

Imagino o sentimento daqueles homens ao presenciar aquele fato histórico tão importante que até interferiu na contagem do tempo. Imagino sua gratidão pelo privilégio de participar daquela cena. Eles foram as primeiras visitas que o bebê recebeu! Até hoje fazem parte de muitos presépios montados nas comemorações do Natal. Ao contemplar o Filho de Deus, trataram de espalhar a notícia e glorificaram o Pai por tudo o que tinham visto e ouvido. Não sabemos se eles cantaram, pois “louvor” não se restringe a música, mas com certeza engrandeceram a Deus, elogiando-o por sua grandeza, fidelidade, amor, bondade, justiça...

Da mesma forma, temos muitos motivos para louvá-lo – e não apenas no Natal. Podemos lembrar de tudo o que Deus fez e ainda faz em nossa vida e entregar tudo a ele, consagrando-nos para que ele faça sua vontade em nós. Você já glorificou a Deus hoje? Cante a ele e louve-o por meio de sua vida, constantemente.

Praise! Bible reading: Luke 2.8-20  _________________ Sing to the Lord, bless his name; each day proclaim his salvation! (Psalm 96.2) _________________

Jesus birth was celebrated with praise to God both by the multitude of angels and the shepherds who saw the baby, as we read today. At the time we celebrate Christmas, Christmas songs are sung and heard in various parts of the world – but how many in fact are praising God? How many glorify because one day he sent his son to die in our place, enabling the access of humans to God? For many, unfortunately, to sing at Christmas is a habit, just.

Those pastors had the privilege of receiving the good news first-hand – and by an Angel! Still under the impact of such glorious vision, they rushed to see what happened. The King was born, but not as people expected. It wasn't the powerful that was announced, but the simple and despised pastors. It wasn't a palace that was found, but a place inappropriate to a newborn: among the animals, having a manger as cradle.

Imagine the feeling of those men to witness that historic event so important that even interfered in the count of time. I imagine its gratitude for the privilege of participating in that scene. They were the first visitors to the baby received! Until today are part of many Christmas celebrations mounted cribs. While contemplating the Son of God, tried to spread the word and glorified the father for everything he had seen and heard. We don't know if they sang "praise" is not restricted to music, but it sure made her great to God, praising him for his greatness, faithfulness, love, goodness, justice...

Similarly, we have many reasons to praise him-and not just at Christmas. We can remember all that God has done and still doing in our lives and deliver everything to him, consecrating ourselves to him to do his will in us. Have you glorify God today? Sing to him and praise him for half of his life, constantly.
