Leitura Bíblica: Amós 2:6-16
Desperta, ó tu que dormes,
levanta-te dentre os mortos, e Cristo resplandecerá sobre ti (Efésios 5:14).
O texto de
hoje descreve a situação durante o reinado de Jeroboão II, rei de Israel, um
momento de muita prosperidade, com um exército forte e muitas vitórias,
anterior à ameaça da Assíria, a potência que mais tarde aniquilaria o reino de
Israel. Tratava-se, portanto, de um período de paz e de bem com os vizinhos.
Assim, o povo israelita só pensava em prazeres e diversões, enquanto
predominavam a avareza, a exploração dos menos favorecidos e outras práticas
malignas. Estavam como adormecidos ante a ética, a moral e os valores
familiares e sociais. Então, em meio a esse cenário, Deus procurou despertar o
povo para o perigo. Fez com que Amós saísse do sul da Palestina e viajasse até
Betel para falar àquela gente e fazê-la refletir. Neste mundo globalizado em que
vivemos correndo, agitados, onde a busca pelo ter é maior do que a busca pelo
ser, podemos facilmente nos esquecer do próximo quando alcançamos a
prosperidade financeira. Às vezes deixamos de lado os valores familiares e
sociais e ainda pensamos que está tudo bem. Vivendo sem problemas, achamos que
o mundo é assim mesmo, como se estivéssemos dormindo! O profeta Amós advertiu
aquele povo para que acordasse da sua comodidade. Israel pensava que nada o
poderia atingir. Se você está vivendo dias de paz, prosperidade e saúde, não
tem sentido falta de nada, está tudo muito bom e muito bem, lembre-se de que
tudo que você tem lhe foi concedido por Deus. Seja agradecido a Ele todos os
dias pelo que tem recebido, não esquecendo de ficar alerta a fim de não se parecer
com quem está adormecido diante da situação de muitos ao seu lado. Procure
fazer alguma coisa para ajudar o seu próximo. Não se conforme e nem fique
inerte ante as injustiças praticadas neste mundo e, principalmente, não
participe delas! Acorde já! – (KCB).

Wake up, o
you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will become upon thee (Ephesians
5:14).
Today's text describes the
situation during the reign of Jeroboam II, King of Israel, a time of great
prosperity, with a strong army and many victories, before the threat of
Assyria, the power that later would annihilate the Kingdom of Israel. It was,
therefore, a period of peace and well with the neighbors. Thus, the Israeli
people just thought of pleasures and diversions, while prevalent greed, the
exploitation of the underprivileged and other evil practices. Were as asleep
before the ethics, morality and family and social values. So, in this scenario,
God sought to awaken the people to the danger. Made with that Amos came out of
southern Palestine and travelled up to Bethel to talk to people and make it
reflect. In this globalized world in which we live running, agitated, where the
search for have is larger than the search for be, we can easily forget next
when we achieve financial prosperity. Sometimes we leave aside the family and
social values and still think it's okay. Living without problems, we think the
world is just like that, as if we were sleeping! The prophet Amos warned that
people who woke up their comfort. Israel thought nothing could achieve. If you
are living days of peace, prosperity and health, has no meaning lack of
anything, everything is very good and very well remember that everything that
you have granted by God. Be thankful to him every day and it has received, not
forgetting to stay alert in order not to look like who's asleep on the
situation of many at his side. Try to do something to help your neighbor. Not
as and not stay inert before the injustices practiced in this world and, above

Material prosperity is like a drug that makes
sleep, but God wants us well alerts!
