Coragem / Courage

Coragem Leitura bíblica: Josué 1.1-9 _________________ Não deixe de falar as palavras deste Livro da Lei e de meditar nelas de dia e de noite, para que você cumpra fielmente tudo o que nele está escrito (Josué 1.8). _________________

O que você faria se tivesse de substituir alguém muito competente em sua função? Os sentimentos mais diversos acometem pessoas que passam por essa experiência. Muitos ficam felizes com a oportunidade. Outros passam por medo e ansiedade, pensando que não conseguirão.

Josué é o conhecido sucessor de Moisés. Por vezes já me perguntei o que passou em seu coração quando Deus o incumbiu dessa nobre tarefa. O desafio era enorme. Liderar um povo numeroso, guiá-lo na tomada da terra prometida, ensiná-lo a viver dia a dia com seu Deus, lidar com reclamações e murmúrios, etc.

Sem dúvidas a luta seria imensa. Mas Josué era alguém que já caminhava com Deus há muito tempo. Sabia que o Deus que chama também capacita, concedendo o que for necessário para cumprir suas ordens. E Deus dá uma certeza: “O Senhor, o seu Deus, estará com você por onde andar” (verso 9). Basta seguir sua orientação.

Na leitura de todo o livro de Josué chama a atenção que não encontramos repreensões de Deus a Josué. Temos a história da tomada da terra (o que não foi algo fácil), e quando esta fase termina há um momento de renovação da aliança entre Deus e o povo. Josué expõe a situação, lembrando o passado, tanto os momentos em que o povo andou com Deus e foi abençoado, como os momentos em que se desviou dele, sofrendo as consequências. O povo é colocado diante de uma escolha, que também demanda coragem. Josué deixa bem claro: “Eu e a minha família serviremos ao Senhor” (Josué 24.15), não importa a escolha dos outros.

Quem anda com o Senhor sabe que as escolhas a fazer e decisões a tomar não são mais fáceis do que as de pessoas que não vivem com Deus. Mas também sabe que a certeza da presença de Deus, conduzindo as decisões, dá a coragem necessária para enfrentar todas as situações.

Courage Bible reading: Joshua 1.1-9 _________________ Be sure to speak the words of this book of the law and to meditate on them day and night, so you comply faithfully everything in it is written (Joshua 1.8). _________________

What would you do if had to replace somebody very competent in their function? The most diverse feelings affect people who pass through this experience. Many are happy with the opportunity. Others pass through fear and anxiety, thinking that they won't be able to.

Joshua is the known successor of Moses. Sometimes I've wondered what happened in your heart when God put this noble task. The challenge was huge. Lead a numerous people, guide you in making the promised land, teach you how to live day by day with your God, dealing with complaints and whispers, etc.

No doubt the fight would be huge. But Joshua was someone who walked with God for a long time. Did you know that the God who calls also empowers, giving whatever it takes to fulfill your orders. And God gives a certainty: "the Lord, your God, will be with you where you go" (verse 9). Just follow your guidance.

In reading the entire book of Joshua points out that we can't find God rebukes to Joshua. We have the story of the taking of the land (which was not an easy thing), and when this phase ends there's a moment of renewal of the Covenant between God and the people. Joshua exposes the situation, remembering the past, both times when the people walked with God and was blessed, as the moments when you've turned him, suffering the consequences. The people are put before a choice, which also demands courage. Joshua makes it clear: "I and my family, we will serve the Lord" (Joshua 24.15), no matter the choice of others.

Who's with you know that choices and decisions to be taken are not easier than people who do not live with God. But you also know that the certainty of the presence of God, driving the decisions, gives the courage to face all situations.

Consequências / Consequences

Consequências Leitura bíblica: Juízes 9.1-6 _________________ Deus retribuiu a maldade que Abimeleque praticara contra o seu pai, matando os seus setenta irmãos. Deus fez também os homens de Siquém pagarem por toda a sua maldade (Juízes 9.56-57a). _________________

Aqui temos uma história duplamente triste. Abimeleque, na ânsia de obter poder, convence os moradores de Siquém de que ele é o melhor líder para eles e comete um monstruoso assassinato. Depois, conforme lemos nos versículos em destaque, vemos o fim de sua vida e da cidade devido aos  seus atos maldosos, que diante de Deus não ficaram impunes. (Sugiro que você leia todo o capítulo para entender melhor esta história).

Tudo o que fazemos na vida tem consequências, que podem ser boas ou más. Quando decidimos fazer algo, sabemos que haverá um resultado. Este pode atingir apenas a nós mesmos ou a outros, ser revelado no momento ou demorar a aparecer. Porém, não há como enganar a Deus. Ele sabe tudo o que acontece, tenha sido escondido ou não. Prestaremos contas a ele quando nos julgar (veja Eclesiastes 12.14 e Romanos 14.12).

Isto deve nos levar à reflexão sobre nossos atos do dia a dia, tanto em palavras como em ações. Como agimos em nossos relacionamentos com as pessoas? Como as tratamos? O que fazemos quando estamos sozinhos e achamos que ninguém nos vê?

Precisamos ter bem claro em nossa mente que não dá para viver de qualquer jeito. O incentivo maior é que tenhamos boas atitudes, que agradem a Deus, para assim também ajudarmos nosso próximo, melhorando a sua situação de vida e a nossa convivência com as pessoas. O mundo precisa melhorar, e nós podemos ajudar nisto sendo nós mesmos melhores. Isso só acontecerá se entregarmos nossa vida a Cristo e vivermos com ele. Ele nos transforma a ponto de buscarmos nele a direção para nossas decisões e atitudes, cujas consequências também traduzirão sua vontade – e por isso serão as melhores!

Consequences Bible reading: Judges 9.1-6 _________________ God repaid the wickedness that Abimelech practice that middle against his father by killing his seventy brothers. God also made the men of Shechem pay for all their wickedness (Judges 9.56-57a). _________________

Here we have a story doubly sad. Abimelech, hoping to get power, convinces the residents of Shechem he is the best leader for them and commits a monstrous murder. Then, as we read in verses, we see the end of his life and the city due to their evil acts, that God didn't get away with it. (I suggest that you read the entire chapter to better understand this story).

Everything we do in life has consequences, which can be good or bad. When we decided to do something, we know that there will be a result. This can achieve only ourselves or others, be revealed in time or take to appear. However, there is no way to cheat God. He knows everything that happens, have been hidden or not. Will the accounts he when we judge (see Ecclesiastes 14.12 12.14 and Roman).

This should lead us to reflect on our everyday acts, both in words and in actions. How we act in our relationships with people? How to treat them? What do we do when we're alone and found that no one sees us?

We need to be very clear in our mind that there's no way to live anyway. The greater incentive is that we have good attitudes, that will appeal to God, so also we help our next, improving their living situation and our coexistence with people. The world needs to improve, and we can help it being ourselves best. This will only happen if we give our life to Christ and live with him. He makes the point to find him the direction to our decisions and attitudes, the consequences of which will translate also your will-and so will be the best!

Imitando / Imitating

Imitando Leitura bíblica: João 5.15-23 _________________ Aquele que afirma que permanece [em Cristo] deve andar como ele andou (1 João 2.6). _________________

O texto de hoje diz que Jesus fazia o mesmo que seu Pai. E não é o que os filhos fazem? A garotinha quer usar as maquiagens da mãe, o menino finge fazer uma barba inexistente, crianças repetem expressões ditas pelos pais... Desde que conheci meu marido, reparei que ele tinha o hábito de coçar a cabeça. Às vezes ele nem percebe que está fazendo isso. Um dia, ele estava ao lado de seu pai e ambos coçaram a cabeça, igualzinho.

Além de nossos pais, podemos imitar nossos amigos, professores, celebridades... Por exemplo, na Copa do Mundo de 2002, o jogador Ronaldo cortou o cabelo de um modo, digamos, original – e muitos o copiaram. A influência dos outros pode ser boa ou má: depende do caráter daqueles que imitamos.

Exemplos de boa conduta na família, no trabalho, na escola e na comunidade cristã ajudam muito no desenvolvimento espiritual daqueles que buscam a Deus. Mas, para que os cristãos sejam também exemplares, o padrão é o mais alto possível: Cristo. De imitador do Pai ele se torna o modelo a ser imitado. As pessoas nas quais nos espelhamos podem ser muito corretas, mas sua natureza humana implica falhas. Cristo, porém, nunca nos decepciona: ele não muda (Hebreus 13.8) e é isento de qualquer defeito.

Pode parecer um exemplo impossível de copiar – e na verdade um filho de Deus só se tornará perfeito após sua morte, ao receber a herança da vida eterna no céu. Mesmo assim, o que Deus espera daqueles que vivem com ele é que se esforcem para imitar seu Filho (e, consequentemente, o Pai), baseando nele seu padrão de conduta para todas as áreas de sua vida. Para isso é preciso saber quem é Jesus, como agiu e quais os valores ensinou. Você já o conhece? Se não, leia a Bíblia, em especial os evangelhos. Entregando sua vida a ele e imitando-o, com a graça de Deus você será exemplo a ser copiado por aqueles que convivem com você ou observam seu modo de agir.

Imitating Bible reading: John 5.15-23 _________________ He who asserts that remains [in Christ] must walk as he walked (1 John 2.6). _________________

The text today says that Jesus was the same as his father. And that's not what the kids do? The little girl wants to wear the makeup of the mother, the boy pretends to make a non-existent beard, kids repeat expressions spoken by parents. Since I met my husband, I noticed he had a habit of scratching his head. Sometimes he doesn't even realize you're doing it. One day, he was alongside his father and both scratched his head, just like.

In addition to our parents, we can imitate our friends, teachers, celebrities ... For example, in the 2002 World Cup, the player Ronaldo cut his hair in such a way that, say, original – and many copy him. The influence of others can be good or bad: it depends on the character of those who imitate her.

Examples of good practice in the family, at work, at school and in the Christian community help much in the spiritual development of those who seek God. But, for which Christians are also examples, the default is the highest possible: Christ. Of Father impersonator he becomes the model to be imitated. The people in the mirror can be very correct, but his human nature implies failure. Christ, however, never disappoints: it does not change (Hebrews 13.8) and is free of any defect.

It may seem an example impossible to copy – and in fact a son of God will only become perfect after his death, to receive the inheritance of eternal life in heaven. Even so, what God expects of those who live with it is to strive to imitate your Son (and, consequently, the Father), basing him their standard of conduct for all areas of your life. For this it is necessary to know who Jesus is, what you did and what the values taught. You already know? If not, read the Bible, especially the Gospels. Giving your life to him and imitating him, with God's grace you will be an example to be copied by those who live with you or observe their way of acting.

Posição / Position

Posição Leitura bíblica: Ester 10.1-3 _________________ Quem quiser ser importante entre vocês deverá ser servo (Mateus 20.26).   _________________

Houve um tempo no meu trabalho em que ocorreram várias mudanças de chefias. Isso é um processo normal, e que sempre acontecerá - principalmente no setor público. Numa dessas mudanças, uma colega acabou por assumir uma posição de chefia, e aí foi que passei a conhecê-la melhor. Quanta diferença depois do cargo! Virou outra pessoa. Nem parecia mais aquela pessoa simples de antes. A posição agora ocupada a fez mudar de postura.

Creio que você também já vivenciou momentos como esse. É nessas situações que vemos como as pessoas mudam quando adquirem posições de destaque. No texto de hoje vimos que Mardoqueu, que fora humilhado, perseguido e jurado de morte com todo o seu povo, terminou sendo honrado pelo rei Xerxes. Tornou-se o segundo homem após o rei naquele império. Mas, ao contrário de muitos que assumem posição de destaque, mesmo sendo importante entre os judeus, Mardoqueu foi muito amado por eles. Por quê? Porque procurou sempre trabalhar para o bem de todo o povo (verso 3). Com isso podemos aprender que qualquer posição de privilégio que Deus nos conceder deveria ser empregada pensando no bem-estar do nosso próximo.

Saiba que Deus nunca esquecerá os nossos atos de justiça, de bondade e de amor para com as pessoas. Mardoqueu usou o favor de Deus não para satisfazer ambições egoístas, mas como oportunidade para servir. Ele não se aproveitou desse período de prosperidade para benefício pessoal, mas pensou no seu povo, nos seus irmãos, na sua família, enfim, pensou em todos. Que você e eu possamos aprender com o exemplo desse homem, e quando estivermos em alguma posição de destaque sejamos bênçãos para a vida daqueles que estão próximos a nós.

Position Bible reading: Esther 10.1-3 _________________ Who wants to be important among you must be a servant (Matthew 20.26).   _________________

There was a time in my line of work in which there were several changes of leadership. This is a normal process, and that always happens-especially in the public sector. One of those changes, a colleague turned out to assume a position of leadership, and that's what I've been through to get to know her better. How much difference after the post! Became someone else. Didn't even look like that person simple as before. The position now occupied the changed posture.

I think you also have experienced moments like that. It is in these situations that we see how people change when they buy positions. In the text today we saw that Mordecai, who had been humiliated, chased and sworn to death with all his people, ended up being honored by king Xerxes. He became the second man after the King in that Empire. But, unlike many who assume a prominent position, even though it's important between Jews, Mordecai was much loved by them. Why? Because it sought to work for the good of all the people (verse 3). With this we can learn that any position of privilege which God grant us should be thinking about the welfare of our fellow men.

Know that God will never forget our acts of Justice, kindness and love for people. Mordecai used please God not to satisfy selfish ambitions, but as an opportunity to serve. He didn't take advantage of this period of prosperity for personal benefit, but have you thought about your people, your brothers, your family, anyway, thought of all. You and I can learn from the example of this man, and when we're in any position be blessings for the life of those who are close to us.

Nova aliança / New Alliance

Nova aliança Leitura bíblica: Jeremias 31.31-34 _________________ A aliança da qual [Jesus] é mediador é superior à antiga, sendo baseada em promessas superiores (Hebreus 8.6b) _________________

Com o tempo,  a aliança de casamento vai perdendo o brilho ou então tem de ser ajustada. Muitos casais optam por substituí-la por outra, nova, ao invés de apenas polir ou consertar a antiga. Pensei nisso ao ler o texto de hoje, no qual Deus anuncia que faria uma nova aliança com seu povo. A antiga estaria desgastada? De certa forma, sim. Ela foi firmada com Israel após a saída do Egito, abrangendo toda a comunidade e estabelecendo normas que orientariam a conduta do povo para torná-lo santo. Porém, os israelitas nem sempre cumpriram sua parte, desobedecendo continuamente ao Senhor. Então, por meio de Jeremias, Deus anuncia que ela seria substituída: Israel voltaria a ser seu povo e a servi-lo.

O texto de hoje se refere a Israel, mas no Novo Testamento é citado em Hebreus 8 e relacionado com a nova aliança estabelecida por Cristo (veja Lucas 22.20). Esta foi realizada plenamente quando Jesus entregou sua vida em nosso favor. Depois disso, os sacrifícios exigidos pela antiga aliança não eram mais necessários, pois ele ofereceu o sacrifício perfeito de uma vez por todas (Hebreus 7.27, 9.24-28) e tornou-se mediador desta aliança superior e eterna. Ela implica o compromisso pessoal do cristão com o Senhor e produz transformação em toda a vida do indivíduo, não apenas em sua conduta. Por meio da nova aliança, as pessoas podem ter acesso direto a Deus e, mediante o arrependimento, receber o perdão por terem-se desviado dele.

Somente conhecer tal aliança não basta: o importante é fazer parte dela. Isso acontece quando entregamos nossa vida a Cristo por meio da fé. Você já fez isso? Se sua resposta for negativa, faça hoje mesmo sua aliança com Deus! Se for positiva, reafirme seu compromisso com o Senhor e continue a amá-lo e servi-lo de todo o coração.

Recuse imitações: busque a vida verdadeira diretamente com seu autor!

New Alliance Bible reading: Jeremiah 31.31-34 _________________ The Alliance of which [Jesus] is mediator is higher than the former, being based on promises (Hebrews 8.6 b) _________________

Over time, the wedding ring is losing luster or so has to be adjusted. Many couples choose to replace it with another, new, instead of just polishing or fix the old one. I thought about it while reading the text today, in which God announces that he would make a new Covenant with his people. The former would be worn out? In a way, Yes. She was signed with Israel after Egypt, covering the whole community and establishing norms that guide further the conduct of the people to make it holy. However, the Israelis have not always fulfilled his part, disobeying the Lord continually. Then, through Jeremiah, God announces that she would be replaced: Israel would be his people, and to serve him.

The text today refers to Israel, but in the New Testament is quoted in Hebrews 8 and related to the new Covenant established by Christ (see Luke 22.20). This was held fully when Jesus gave his life on our behalf. After that, the sacrifices required by the old Covenant were no longer needed because it offered the perfect sacrifice once for all (Hebrews 7.27, 9.24-28) and became the mediator of this superior and eternal Alliance. It implies the personal commitment of the Christian with the Lord and produces processing throughout the life of the individual, not only in his conduct. By means of the new Covenant, people can have direct access to God and, through repentance, receive forgiveness for have diverted him.

Only meet such an Alliance is not enough: the important thing is to be a part of it. This happens when we commit our lives to Christ through faith. Have you ever done it? If your answer is in the negative, do today his Covenant with God. If is positive, reaffirm their commitment to the Lord and continue to love him and serve him with all my heart.

Ponto fraco / Weak point

Ponto fraco Leitura bíblica: 1 Reis 11.1-13 _________________ Fortaleçam-se no Senhor e no seu forte poder. Vistam toda a armadura de Deus, para poderem ficar firmes contra as ciladas do Diabo (Efésios 6.10-11). _________________

O rei Salomão conhecia muito bem a Lei de Deus. As suas mulheres estrangeiras, entretanto, perverteram o seu coração para seguir outros deuses. Naqueles dias, a nação de Israel estava rodeada por vários povos que não conheciam o Deus vivo. Os moabitas, amonitas, edomitas, sidônios e heteus tinham seus próprios deuses. Então aquele rei piedoso, temente a Deus, sábio e conhecedor da Lei fez exatamente o contrário do que nela estava escrito (Êxodo 34.16). Fez alianças políticas com esses países, mandou construir altares a seus deuses e casou-se com suas mulheres. Elas eram o seu ponto fraco! As mulheres o atraíam e por isso ele chegou a ter um harém cheio delas. Satanás conhece muito bem essa fraqueza humana.

Em nossos dias o afastamento de Deus é óbvio, mesmo que se observe uma falsa espiritualidade em muitas pessoas. A imoralidade tornou-se um hábito até mesmo aplaudido em certos segmentos da sociedade. Infelizmente até mesmo cristãos, seguidores de Jesus, se rendem a ela. Como Salomão, esquecem-se dos ensinos de Deus e permitem que Satanás tome conta de seus pensamentos e ataque o seu ponto fraco. Há sempre sérias consequências quando o cristão deixa de seguir a Jesus e dá lugar às astutas ciladas diabólicas, não importa o tipo de pecado – moral, econômico ou outro qualquer. Foi isso que aconteceu com Salomão.

No caso dele, quanto mais mulheres tinha, mais desejava. Todos estamos sujeitos às investidas do inimigo, e ele sempre ataca o nosso ponto fraco. A melhor maneira de vencê-lo é levar uma vida de relacionamento diário com Jesus. Na carta à igreja de Éfeso, Paulo passa em 6.10-18 uma receita para viver de modo que o nosso ponto fraco não seja usado por Satanás.

Weak point Bible reading: 1 Kings 11.1-13 _________________ Strengthen yourself in the Lord and in your strong power. Put on the whole armor of God, to be able to stand against the Wiles of the Devil (Ephesians 6.10-11). _________________

King Solomon knew the Law of God. Their foreign women, however, turned his heart to follow other gods. In those days, the nation of Israel was surrounded by several people who did not know the living God. The Moabites, ammonites, edomites, Sidonians and Hittites had their own gods. So that King pious, God fearing, wise and knowledgeable of the law did exactly the opposite of what it was written (Exodus 34.16). Made political alliances with these countries, built altars to their gods and married their wives. They were his weakness. Women lured him and so he had a harem full of them. Satan knows well that human weakness.

In our days the expulsion of God is obvious, even if you notice a false spirituality in many people. The immorality became a habit even applauded in certain segments of society. Unfortunately even Christians, followers of Jesus, surrender to it. As Solomon, they forget the teachings of God and allow Satan to take care of your thoughts and attack its weak point. There's always consequences when the Christian fails to follow Jesus and gives way to the Wiles evil, no matter what kind of sin – moral, economic or any other. That's what happened to Solomon.

In his case, as more women had, the more desired. We are all subject to the attacks of the enemy, and he always strikes our weakness. The best way to beat him is to live a life of daily relationship with Jesus. In the letter to the Church of Ephesus, Paul spends in 6.10-18 a recipe to live so that our weakness is not used by Satan.
