Sectarismo Leitura bíblica: Obadias 12-13 _________________ Você não devia ter olhado com satisfação o dia da desgraça de seu irmão (Obadias 12). _________________

A profecia de Obadias traz uma palavra muito dura contra Edom. Trata-se de uma nação descendente do irmão de Jacó, pai do povo de Israel, e a profecia fala das conse­quências que Edom sofreria por ter-se unido aos agressores de Israel quando este sofreu dura disciplina. Creio que o texto em destaque trata do maior pecado de Edom: alegrar-se com a desgraça alheia.

Há uma característica comum ao ser humano chamada sectarismo: a tendência a radicalizar seu ponto de vista, fazendo de quem diverge dele algo mais parecido com um inimigo do que simplesmente uma pessoa que pensa de forma diferente. As mídias sociais (como o Facebook) permitem uma visão privilegiada deste aspecto. Opiniões e comentários feitos em certos “posts” não raro são agressivos, quando não ofensivos; certos assuntos polarizam as opiniões e é perceptível o ódio que transpira por detrás de manifestações intensas. Infelizmente é frequente ver expressões de celebração quando um desses tais desafetos públicos se dá mal.

A matéria religiosa é uma das mais explosivas causas de sectarismo e não raro tenho visto manifestações altamente sectárias de pessoas que se professam cristãs. Há sim gente que manifesta ódio contra cristãos, o que é até normal, pois o próprio Jesus avisou que seríamos odiados. Mas nossa resposta jamais poderia ser rancorosa. Somos gente que só tem motivos para amar e perdoar – afinal, qual cristão não aprendeu que fomos perdoados sem merecer? Ódio não convém ao cristão.

Dia destes vi no Facebook a manifestação de um irmão conclamando os demais a abandonar as ofensas e orar por um desses “desafetos” a quem muitos apaixonadamente execravam. Que outra resposta seria mais coerente com a fé que dizemos ter? Como se diz nas mídias sociais... fica a dica. (MHJ)

Sectarianism Bible reading: Obadiah 12-13 _________________ You shouldn't have looked with satisfaction the day of doom of his brother (Obadiah 12). _________________

The prophecy of Obadiah brings a harsh word against Edom. This is a nation descended from the brother of Jacob, father of the people of Israel, and the prophecy speaks of the consequences that Edom would suffer for having joined the attackers of Israel when the latter suffered harsh discipline. I think the featured text is the greatest sin of Edom: rejoice in the misfortune.

There is a feature common to human beings called sectarianism: the tendency to radicalize his views, making who diverges from it something more like an enemy than simply a person who thinks differently. Social media (like Facebook) allow a privileged vision of this aspect. Opinions and comments made on certain "posts" not infrequently are aggressive, if not offensive; certain issues polarized opinions and it is noticeable the hatred that oozes behind intense demonstrations. Unfortunately it is common to see expressions of celebration when one of these such disaffected public gives evil.

The story is one of the most explosive religious causes of sectarianism and not infrequently have seen highly sectarian demonstrations of people who profess Christianity. There is people that expresses hatred against Christians, which is normal, because Jesus himself warned us we were hated. But our response could ever be spiteful. We are people who only have reason to love and forgive – after all, what Christian did not learn that have been forgiven without merit? Hate befits the Christian.

The other day I saw on Facebook the manifestation of a brother urging others to abandon the offenses and pray for one of those "disaffected" whom many passionately execrate. What other answer would be more consistent with the faith that we have? As they say in social media ... is the tip. (MHJ)

The Christian should not hatred for others, be it in a dress than for.

Alegria / Joy

Alegria Leitura bíblica: Eclesiastes 2.1-11 _________________ É [do Senhor] que vem a minha alegria! (Salmo 104.34b – NTLH) _________________

Certa vez, um ex-comandante de avião me contou que viajou para vários lugares e conheceu muitas pessoas, dentre elas celebridades, mas que não era feliz, só tinha momentos alegres. Quando acabava o agito dos passeios e festas, a realidade da tristeza e da solidão dominava-o; às vezes ficava deprimido e tinha vontade de morrer. Depois de aposentado vivia se enganando com fantasias para pensar que ainda era bem-sucedido. Mas o que adiantava isso? Estava só correndo atrás do vento, como diz o texto de hoje. Ele disse: “Meus familiares assistiam a toda essa loucura. Conheci quase o mundo inteiro e não me conheci internamente. Somente agora, seguindo Jesus, estou encontrando uma nova vida e digo que posso morrer hoje, feliz, pois sei que meu caminho é a eternidade. Quem não tem Jesus, não tem a vida eterna, pois ele mesmo um dia disse: ‘Que adianta ao homem ganhar o mundo inteiro e perder a sua alma’?” Segundo ele, estas palavras, registradas em Marcos 8.36, bateram forte em seu coração.

Quando ouvi tudo isso, há mais de 25 anos, eu ainda não conhecia a Deus. Reagi com desprezo, dizendo que aquele negócio era uma tolice. Ele me respondeu, rindo: “Como uma tolice pode transformar a vida de um homem como eu?” Hoje vejo como fui rude. Quando falo sobre o amor de Deus, muitos reagem da mesma forma. Lembro-me do que o Senhor disse sobre Paulo: “Este homem é meu instrumento escolhido para levar o meu nome perante os gentios e seus reis e perante o povo de Israel. Mostrarei a ele o quanto deve sofrer pelo meu nome” (Atos 9.15-16). Muitas vezes, levar aos outros a mensagem de Jesus não nos trará o resultado esperado – muitos vão preferir continuar correndo atrás do vento. Mesmo assim, precisamos anunciar que a verdadeira alegria só pode ser encontrada em Deus. Não podemos esquecer que o sofrimento de um cristão não é eterno, mas sua felicidade sim! (ETS)

Longe de Deus, podemos ter momentos alegres; com ele, somos felizes mesmo em meio ao sofrimento.

Joy Bible reading: Ecclesiastes 2.1-11 _________________ Is [the Lord] who comes to my joy! (Psalm 104.34 b) _________________

Once, a former Commander of plane told me that traveled to various places and met many people, including celebrities, but that it was not happy, just had happy moments. When he finished his excitement of the rides and holidays, the reality of sorrow and loneliness dominated him; Sometimes I was depressed and had a death wish. After retired lived fooling themselves with fantasy to think that it was still successful. But what does that? I was just chasing the wind, as the text today. He said: "my family watched all this madness. I met almost the entire world and I knew internally. Only now, following Jesus, I'm finding a new life and I say I can die happy now, because I know that my path is eternity. Those who do not have Jesus, you don't have eternal life because he himself once said: ' what's the point to man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? " According to him, these words, recorded in Markus 8.36, beat strong in your heart.

When I heard all this, for over 25 years, I still didn't know God. I reacted with contempt, saying that business was silly. He replied, laughing: "How silly can transform the life of a man like me?" Today I was rude. When I talk about the love of God, many react similarly. I remember what you said about Paul: "this man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and Kings and before the people of Israel. Show how much he must suffer for my name "(9.15-Acts 16). Often lead to others the message of Jesus will bring us the expected result – many will prefer to continue chasing the wind. Even so, we need to announce that true happiness can only be found in God. We must not forget that the suffering of a Christian is not eternal, but his happiness Yes! (ETS)

Far from God, we have joyful moments; with him, we're happy even in the midst of suffering.

Persistência / Persistence

Persistência Leitura bíblica: Josué 14.6-15 _________________ Então Josué abençoou Calebe, filho de Jefoné, e lhe deu Hebrom por herança (Josué 14.13). _________________

Quando os israelitas saíram do Egito, Deus prometera que teriam uma terra para morar. Ao chegarem perto deste lugar, Moisés mandou doze espiões em uma missão de reconhecimento, a fim de preparar a invasão e expulsão das nações que viviam ali. Os espiões trouxeram boas e más notícias: a terra era maravilhosa, mas o povo era terrível e assustador. Calebe e Josué foram os únicos a confiar na promessa de Deus e acreditar que a vitória seria de Israel. Os demais espiões trataram de desanimar o povo, que caiu na conversa deles. Como castigo, Deus condenou o povo a vagar no deserto até que toda aquela geração adulta e descrente morresse. Apenas Calebe e Josué escapariam desse veredito. A Calebe, Deus fez uma promessa específica: “Mas como o meu servo Calebe tem outro espírito e me segue com integridade, eu o farei entrar na terra que foi observar, e seus descendentes a herdarão” (Números 14.24). Apesar disso, Calebe e Josué foram obrigados a andar pelo deserto até que os adultos morressem.

Com tudo isso se passaram quarenta e cinco anos. Àquela altura, Josué tinha sucedido Moisés na liderança do povo, que agora já estava dentro de Canaã. A partilha da terra já começara. Foi aí que Calebe conversou com Josué, fazendo-o lembrar do que Deus dissera. Ele tinha uma fé positiva e havia crido na promessa de Deus. Nem mesmo a longa espera, testemunhando a morte de seus companheiros, abalara a sua confiança e determinação.

O que você faria se tivesse que esperar quarenta e cinco anos para poder ver a promessa de Deus realizada? Calebe foi persistente e não duvidou de Deus. Sua fé não dependeu das circunstâncias, mas de sua decisão de ser fiel ao Senhor. Com isso, não só recebeu sua terra, mas também força e disposição para desfrutar dela, apesar de já estar velho. Fé e persistência são requisitos básicos para receber as promessas de Deus.

Persistence Bible reading: Joshua 14.6-15 _________________ Then Joshua blessed Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, and gave him Hebron by inheritance (Joshua 14.13). _________________

When the Israelites left Egypt, God had promised that they would have a Earth to live. Upon arriving near this place, Moses sent twelve spies on a reconnaissance mission to prepare the invasion and ouster of the Nations who lived there. Spies brought good news and bad news: the Earth was beautiful, but the people were terrible and frightening. Caleb and Joshua were the only trust in the promise of God and believe that victory would be to Israel. The other spies tried to discourage the people who fell to their conversation. As punishment, God ordered the people to wander in the desert until all that adult and unbelieving generation died. Only Caleb and Joshua would be exempt from this verdict. The Caleb, God made a specific promise: "but my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me with integrity, I will enter the land which was to observe, and their descendants shall inherit" (14.24 Numbers). Despite this, Caleb and Joshua were forced to walk through the desert until the adults die.

With everything that's been forty-five years. At that point, Joshua had succeeded Moses in the leadership of the people, which was now within Canaan. The sharing of the Earth had already begun. That's when Caleb spoke with Joshua, making him remember what God had said. He had a positive faith and had believed in the promise of God. Even the long wait, witnessing the death of his companions, shook their confidence and determination.

What would you do if you had to wait 45 years to be able to see the promise of God fulfilled? Caleb was persistent and never doubted God. Their faith does not depend on the circumstances, but his decision to be faithful to the Lord. With this, not only received their land, but also strength and willingness to enjoy it, although it was already old. How is your decision to believe in God? (MM)
