Imunes? / Immune?

Imunes? Leitura bíblica: Lucas 6.46-49 _________________ Caiu a chuva, transbordaram os rios, sopraram os ventos e deram contra aquela casa, e ela não caiu, porque tinha seus alicerces na rocha (Mateus 7.25). _________________

A região onde moro foi atingida por ventos fortes, acompanhados de chuva e granizo, que destelharam e inundaram casas, derrubaram árvores, postes e construções. Em minha cidade, alguns locais não foram atingidos ou tiveram poucos danos. Casas de cristãos autênticos foram destruídas, enquanto pessoas sem Deus não tiveram prejuízo algum. Por que uns são poupados e outros não? Os cristãos não deveriam ter privilégios?

No texto de hoje há algo que muitas vezes passa despercebido: as duas casas são atingidas pela inundação. Ou seja, os cristãos não são imunes ao sofrimento – que muitas vezes não tem a ver com algum erro. Como a tendência humana é achar que uma tragédia é a punição divina por desagradarmos a Deus, Jesus deixou bem claro em Lucas 13.1-5 que quem sofre não é mais culpado do que os outros. Desastres, porém, servem de alerta: todos precisam se arrepender! Não para preservar a vida física ou os bens, mas para ter a certeza de vida eterna com Deus.

Ao invés de julgar os outros se fomos poupados – por pura misericórdia divina, não por merecimento – deveríamos questionar: e se fosse comigo? Minha vida está correta diante de Deus? Está firmada na Rocha, Jesus? Tenho praticado o que aprendo na Bíblia? Além disso, se não tivemos prejuízos, podemos ajudar aqueles que tiveram. Quando sofremos, reordenamos nossas prioridades. Não vamos escapar do sofrimento por seguir a Cristo, mas podemos contar com o cuidado e a proteção de Deus enquanto passamos por momentos difíceis. Ele está no controle! Além disso, nos dá a garantia de vida completa agora e para sempre. Já quem ignora os avisos divinos, pensa que está seguro, mas sua queda será grande (Mateus 7.27). Passar a eternidade longe de Deus, em sofrimento constante e sem fim, deveria nos assustar mais do que qualquer tragédia que possamos vivenciar. (VWR)

 O que nos acontece é importante, mas o que importa é se acontece com Deus ou sem ele.

The region where I live was hit by high winds, accompanied by rain and hail, which tore and flooded homes, downed trees, lamp posts and buildings. In my town, some places have not been met or had little damage. Authentic Christian houses were destroyed, while people without God had no prejudice whatsoever. Why some are spared and others don't? Christians shouldn't have privileges?

In today's text is something that often goes unnoticed: the two houses are affected by flooding. That is, Christians are not immune to suffering – which often has nothing to do with any errors. As the human tendency is to find that a tragedy is the divine punishment by God to make, Jesus made it clear in Luke 13.1-5 that the sufferer is no more guilty than the other. Disasters, however, serve to alert: everyone needs to repent! Not to preserve physical life or goods, but to be sure of eternal life with God.

Instead of judging others if we are spared – for pure divine mercy, not by merit-we should ask ourselves: what if it were me? My life is right in front of God? Is grounded in Rock, Jesus? I've been practicing what you learn in the Bible? Moreover, if we had no losses, we can help those who have had. When we suffer, relocate in order our priorities. We will not escape the suffering by following Christ, but we can count on the care and protection of God while we went through difficult moments. He is in control! In addition, gives us the complete lifetime warranty now and forever. I who ignores the divine warnings, thinks he is safe, but his fall will be great (Matthew 7.27). Spend eternity away from God, in constant and endless suffering, should scare us more than any tragedy that we can experience. (VWR)

 What happens to us is important, but what matters is whether happens with God or without him.
