Essencial Leitura bíblica: Isaías 55.1-2 _________________ Por que gastar... o seu trabalho naquilo que não satisfaz? (Isaias 55.2) _________________

No exercício de minha profissão atendo muita gente queixando-se de dores. Um exame mais aprofundado desses pacientes mostra alterações físicas importantes, porém na maioria dos casos causadas por desequilíbrios emocionais. Não são pessoas malucas; são aparentemente normais, mas se as suas emoções pudessem ser resolvidas, muitas das queixas desapareceriam quase que por encanto, e se as dores da alma tivessem sido tratadas antes, a maioria nem ao menos estaria doente.

No século XIX, a tuberculose se tornou símbolo do “mal do século”, um espírito decadente que foi abraçado com ardor pela poesia. Já o presente século também tem o seu mal do século: a coisificação – a adoração das coisas e a transformação das pessoas em coisas também. E este mal do século também tem seu símbolo patológico: a ansiedade. O desespero de alcançar sabe-se-lá-o-que em uma correria que me faz lembrar a anedota de dois loucos, um deles dando golpes no ar como se apanhasse insetos voadores. O outro pergunta: “O que você está caçando?” “Nhoca” responde o primeiro. “E como é uma nhoca?” (pergunta o segundo) ao que o primeiro responde: “Não sei, ainda não peguei nenhuma!” Assim é a corrida deste século – ninguém sabe exatamente atrás do que está correndo tanto, mas continua correndo porque afinal todo mundo corre.

No contexto da leitura de hoje, Deus fala com seu povo que o abandonou em busca do corre-corre diário. Talvez o versículo acima pudesse ser contextualizado assim: “Por que se gastar tanto com o que não é essencial? Você acha mesmo que sua correria vai lhe conquistar alguma satisfação?” E, a propósito, o que é essencial para você, cristão?

A vida oferece muita coisa pelo que lutar e viver. Sugiro falar com Jesus, pedindo discernimento para escolher bem no que investir e sabedoria para lidar com as demandas da vida neste século. (MHJ)

Essential Bible reading: Isaiah 55.1-2 _________________ Why spend ... your work on what does not satisfy? ( Isaiah 55.2) _________________

In the exercise of my profession I answer lots of people complaining of pain. A more in-depth examination of these patients show significant physical changes, but in most cases caused by emotional imbalances. Are not crazy people; are apparently normal, but if their emotions could be resolved, many of the complaints would disappear almost by magic, and the pain of the soul had been treated before, most or at least would be sick.

In the 19th century, tuberculosis has become a symbol of the "evil of the century", a seedy spirit that was embraced with fervor by poetry. Already this century also has its evil of the century: the edge-the worship of things and the transformation of things too. And this evil of the century also has its symbol: pathological anxiety. The despair of achieving it is known-there-what a rush that reminds me of the story of two crazy people, one of them giving blows in the air as if I caught flying insects. The other question: "what are you hunting?" "Nhoca" answers the first. "And how is a nhoca?" (asked the second) to which the first responds: "I don't know, I haven't got any!" This is the race of the century – nobody knows exactly what's running so much, but keeps running anyway because everybody runs.

In the context of reading today, God speaks to his people who abandoned him in search of the daily hustle and bustle. Perhaps the above verse could be contextualized as well: "why do you spend so much about what is not essential? Do you really think your rush will win some satisfaction? " And, by the way, what is essential to you, Christian?

Life offers a lot to fight and live. I suggest talking to Jesus, asking for discernment to choose what to invest and wisdom to handle the demands of life in this century. (MHJ)

Riquezas / Riches

Riquezas Leitura bíblica: 2º Coríntios 8.1-24 _________________ Conheço as suas aflições e a sua pobreza; mas você é rico! (Apocalipse 2.9) _________________

Não sei se algum leitor já viveu uma experiência assim, mas muitas vezes, quando deparamos com alguém que necessitaria da nossa ajuda, também não temos as condições ideais para fazê-lo. Talvez até estejamos também com alguma necessidade, o que nos impossibilitaria de partilhar.

Mas louvo ao Senhor por nos capacitar a sermos generosos mesmo sem sermos abastados (quem é até entrega, mas sem de nada sentir falta). Foi assim também com os cristãos da Macedônia de quem lemos hoje, que ajudaram os judeus pobres até além da sua capacidade. Creio que tudo começa com o querer, com a vontade de compartilhar. Essa força da vontade não nasce daquilo que temos, mas do que somos. Não visa ao mérito, ou que acumulemos ainda mais, mas que o outro realmente não sinta necessidade. É o pleno exercício da misericórdia e do prazer em ajudar. Claro que Deus não exige de nós que passemos falta para ajudar os outros, e até nos instrui a doar conforme nossas possibilidades, porém o desejo de abençoar pode impulsionar-nos a fazê-lo mesmo além de nossas posses.

Cristo, sendo rico, se fez pobre para que nós pudéssemos enriquecer. Sendo divino, tornou-se humano para sentir nossa pobreza. Teve fome e foi auxiliado, pois não tinha riquezas aqui, mas nem por isso deixou de alimentar a muitos.

Entretanto, quando queremos acumular sem dividir com quem realmente precisa e usufruir sozinhos das bênçãos que Deus nos dispensa, tornamo-nos pobres de fato. Quando desejamos reter o que sobra, fatalmente um outro terá falta, como bem lembra a leitura bíblica: “Quem tinha recolhido muito não teve demais, e não faltou a quem tinha recolhido pouco” (verso 15). Afinal, tudo provém de Deus e para ele deve tornar, para que ele disponha de tudo da forma que bem lhe parecer.

Não queira enriquecer, pois aquele que empobrece para que outros enriqueçam é realmente rico aos olhos de Deus.

Riches Bible reading: 2nd Corinthians 8.1-24 _________________ I know your afflictions and your poverty; but you're rich! (Apocalypse 2.9) _________________

I don't know if any reader has lived an experience like this, but often, when faced with someone who would need our help, we have the ideal conditions to do so. Maybe we're too with any need, which would make it impossible to share.

But praise the Lord for enable us to be generous even without being wealthy (who is until delivery, but without anything to Miss). The same was true with the Macedonian Christians who read today, who helped the Jews poor beyond their capacity. I think it all starts with wanting, with the desire to share. This force of will is not born of what we have, but what we are. No visa to the merit, or that we lay these even more, but the other didn't really feel the need. Is the full exercise of mercy and glad to help. Of course, God does not require us to spend to help others, and instructs to donate according to our possibilities, but the desire to bless can propel us to do so even beyond our possessions.

Christ, being rich, became poor so that we can enrich. Being divine became human to feel our poverty. He was hungry and was aided because didn't have riches here, but by no means left to feed many.

However, when we want to accumulate without sharing with who really needs and take advantage of the blessings that God alone in the pantry, we became poor in fact. When we wish to retain what remains, fatally another have lack, as you well remember the biblical reading: "Who had gathered much did not have too much, and there was no lack of whom had gathered little" (verse 15). After all, everything comes from God and he must make, so it has all the way you look.

Don't want to get rich, because that which impoverishes so others enrich is really rich in the sight of God.

Tudo novo Leitura bíblica: 1º Coríntios 15.35-44 _________________ Se Cristo não ressuscitou, inútil é a fé que vocês têm, e ainda estão em seus pecados (1º Coríntios 15.17). _________________

No dia de hoje celebra-se a ascensão de Jesus. No Monte das Oliveiras, em Jerusalém, os discípulos de Jesus olhavam enquanto ele subia ao céu. Naquele momento apareceram dois anjos e disseram: “Por que vocês estão olhando para o céu? Este mesmo Jesus, que dentre vocês foi elevado aos céus, voltará da mesma forma como o viram subir” (Atos 1.11). Ele havia ressuscitado e agora reassumia plenamente sua divindade. Antes disso, Jesus aparecera a eles em um lugar que tinha designado na Galileia e lhes prometeu que estaria com eles para sempre: “Estarei sempre com vocês, até o fim dos tempos” (Mateus 28.20). Essa promessa de Jesus não foi somente para os discípulos que estavam com ele ali, mas para toda a sua Igreja através dos tempos. E Jesus podia dizer isso porque estava vivo. Assim, ele está perto de mim e de você porque sua ressurreição é uma realidade que não se pode mudar – e se não houvesse ressurreição, nossa fé nada valeria e não estaríamos reconciliados com Deus.

O que dá significado ao cristianismo é o fato de que Jesus não permaneceu numa sepultura fria de um cemitério em Jerusalém. Ele vive e está bem perto de você. A ressurreição, portanto, é parte integrante da nossa fé em Jesus Cristo. E porque ele ressuscitou, nós, os cristãos, também ressuscitaremos. Receberemos um novo corpo espiritual. Ao escrever à igreja de Corinto o texto que lemos hoje, Paulo ilustra como será essa ressurreição aplicando a figura do lavrador que lança a semente no campo. Muitos cristãos gostariam de saber como será esse evento. Não iremos para um “reino dos mortos” ou para um lugar onde a alma será libertada, como diziam os filósofos gregos. Paulo nos ensina que teremos um novo corpo, como uma planta que nasce da semente lançada na terra. Assim será com todos aqueles que confiam sua vida a Jesus. (JG)
 

Para o cristão, a esperança não é a última que morre: ela permanece viva com Jesus.

All new Bible reading: 1st Corinthians 15.35-44 _________________ If Christ is not risen, useless is the faith that you have, and are still in your sins (1st Corinthians 15.17). _________________

This day celebrates the Ascension of Jesus. On the Mount of olives in Jerusalem, the disciples of Jesus looked as he went up to heaven. At that time two Angels appeared and said: "why are you looking at the sky? This same Jesus, who among you was elevated to heaven, will return in the same manner as the saw rise "(Acts 1.11). He had risen and now fully took over again his divinity. Before that, Jesus appeared to them in a place that was designated in the Galilee and promised them that I would be with them forever: "I will always be with you until the end of time" (Matthew 28.20). That promise of Jesus was not only to the disciples who were with him there, but for your entire Church throughout the ages. And Jesus could say that because he was alive. Thus, he is close to you and me because his resurrection is a reality we cannot change – and if there is no resurrection, our faith would be nothing and wouldn't be reconciled with God.

What gives meaning to Christianity is the fact that Jesus did not remain in a cold grave in a cemetery in Jerusalem. He lives and is very close to you. The resurrection, therefore, is an integral part of our faith in Jesus Christ. And because he was resurrected, we, Christians, also will raise him up. Receive a new spiritual body. When writing to the Church of Corinth the text we read today, Paulo illustrates how will this resurrection by applying the figure that throws the farmer's seed in the field. Many Christians would like to know how this event. We're not going to a "Kingdom of the dead" or to a place where the soul will be released, as the Greek philosophers. Paul teaches us that we have a new body such as a plant that is born of the seed thrown on Earth. So will all those who trust your life to Jesus. (JG)
