Fome Leitura bíblica: Mateus 25.31-46  _________________ Quem trata bem os pobres empresta ao Senhor, e ele o recompensará (Provérbios 19.17). _________________

Por mais de dez anos ajudei como voluntário em uma associação de igrejas que presta atendimento a pessoas necessitadas. Uma senhora disse-me que vinha ali todas as semanas buscar um pouco de comida, pois tinha quatro filhos e o dinheiro não era suficiente. Quanta pobreza e fome em todo o mundo! “Não, ninguém chegou aqui para nos ajudar com alimento”, disse outro homem em apuros, ao ser entrevistado rodeado por sua família. Quase todos os dias vemos imagens de pais e filhos passando fome. Talvez até mesmo na rua da sua casa haja pessoas que necessitem de um pouco de pão para matar sua fome. Embora a Conferência Mundial sobre a Fome tenha declarado em sua reunião que todo homem, mulher e criança tem direito a não ter fome, ela continua aumentando.

Qual a razão da existência da fome? Há várias: má distribuição da renda, desigualdades sociais, terras pouco cultivadas, fábricas que tiram os trabalhadores da terra, corrupção dos governos e drogas. É claro que não podemos resolver essa triste situação, mas podemos fazer alguma coisa. Jesus disse que os pobres sempre estarão conosco (Mateus 26.11). Certa ocasião dei uma lição a um grupo de pessoas que estava começando a caminhada da fé cristã. Coloquei diante dele três maneiras simples de economizar dinheiro e ter uma vida mais saudável: deixar de fumar, de beber e de gastar em coisas desnecessárias. Depois de alguns dias, um senhor que estava no grupo naquela ocasião veio a mim e, muito alegre, disse: “Deixei os vícios e agora o dinheiro é suficiente para comer melhor e dar um pouco aos que têm fome”. Era exatamente o que Jesus estava ensinando aos seus discípulos e a cada um de nós. É impossível acabar com a fome, mas podemos dar um pouco a quem nos pede e necessita da nossa ajuda. E quando assim agirmos, o faremos a Jesus (verso 40).

For more than ten years helped as a volunteer in an Association of churches that provides assistance to people in need. A lady told me I was coming there every week to pick up some food because it had four children and the money wasn't enough. How much poverty and hunger around the world. "Nobody has come here to help us with food," said another man in trouble, while being interviewed surrounded by his family. Almost every day we see pictures of parents and children starving. Maybe even down the street from your House there are people who need a bit of bread to kill your hunger. Although the World Conference about the famine has declared at its meeting that every man, woman and child has the right not to be hungry, she continues to increase.

The reason for the existence of hunger? There are various: poor income distribution, social inequalities, little cultivated land, factories that take workers from Earth, corruption of Governments and drugs. Of course, we can't solve this sad situation, but we can do something. Jesus said that the poor will always be with us (26.11). Once I gave a lesson to a group of people who were starting to walk the Christian faith. I put before him three simple ways to save money and have a healthier life: stop smoking, drinking and spending on unnecessary things. After a few days, a man who was in the Group at that time came to me and very happy, said: "I left the vices and now the money is enough to eat better and give a little to those who are hungry." That's exactly what Jesus was teaching his disciples and every one of us. It is impossible to end hunger, but we can give a little to those who ask us and need our help. And when we act, we will do to Jesus (verse 40).

Simão de Cirene / Simon of Cyrene

Simão de Cirene Leitura bíblica: Marcos 15.21-25  _________________ A mão do Senhor estava com eles, e muitos creram e se converteram ao Senhor (Atos 11.21). _________________

Simão de Cirene foi o homem que cruzou o caminho de Jesus em Jerusalém e foi constrangido a levar a cruz quando este, debilitado, não conseguiu fazê-lo. Simão era de Cirene, cidade importante e colônia grega no norte da África. Há diversos Simões mencionados no Novo Testamento; este, que era camponês, tinha dois filhos, Alexandre e Rufo, que Marcos trata como conhecidos entre os primeiros cristãos. A biografia de Simão Cireneu é muito pequena e se resume a uma breve menção em três dos Evangelhos. João não o mencionou. Contudo, ele ganhou fama por ter carregado a cruz de Cristo até o alto do Gólgota. Conhecendo a personalidade de Jesus, podemos imaginar que este o abençoou pelo serviço prestado, mesmo que à força. Nesta perspectiva surgem alguns pensamentos que quero considerar nesta meditação: 1) Simão teve um encontro com Jesus que deixou marcas até na sua família. Ninguém que se encontra com Jesus pode ficar indiferente. Recomendo aos leitores que ainda não se decidiram a seguir a Jesus que o façam de imediato. 2) Jesus precisou da ajuda de Simão. Ainda hoje Jesus solicita nossa ajuda. Encarregou seus discípulos de pregar o Evangelho a todos, e este trabalho ainda não terminou. Já fizemos a nossa parte? 3) Simão teve disposição. Aqui vai um alerta para todos nós. Qual é a nossa disposição de “carregar a cruz”, comprometendo-nos com Jesus e divulgando sua mensagem? Até onde vai nossa disposição de servir? 4) Simão fez um grande esforço. Carregar a cruz morro acima foi serviço pesado. A necessidade de esforço para entrar no Reino de Deus é mencionada diversas vezes na Bíblia. O descanso não é para o nosso tempo e será dado como prêmio depois. Paulo escreveu aos colossenses: “Para isso eu me esforço…”

Simon of Cyrene was the man who crossed the path of Jesus in Jerusalem and was embarrassed to take the cross when this, weak, failed to do so. Simon of Cyrene was important city and Greek colony in North Africa. There are several Sen mentioned in the new testament; This, it was farmer, had two sons, Alexander and Rufus, that mark treats as well known among the early Christians. What is our willingness to "carry the cross", committing ourselves to Jesus and spreading your message? How far does our willingness to serve? 4) Simon made a great effort. Carry the cross uphill was heavy duty. The need of effort to enter the Kingdom of God is mentioned several times in the Bible. The rest is not for our time and will be given as a prize after. Paul wrote to the Colossians: "For this I have worked."

Ilusão / Illusion

Ilusão Leitura bíblica: Amós 5.1-27  _________________ Busquem o bem, não o mal, para que tenham vida. Então o Senhor, o Deus dos Exércitos, estará com vocês, conforme vocês afirmam (Amós 5.14). _________________

As palavras do profeta Amós transmitem um duro juízo contra sua nação. Basicamente o recado de Deus é que ele estava farto do comportamento exterior das pessoas, que frequentavam lugares sagrados e praticavam atos religiosos pensando cultuar a Deus, mas ao mesmo tempo mantinham o coração longe dele. Por diversas vezes encontramos na leitura de hoje o que mais incomodava o Senhor. Talvez pudéssemos dizer de outra forma: “Vocês têm um comportamento religioso, usam meu nome a torto e direito, mas seu jeito de viver não tem absolutamente nada a ver com o meu caráter! Como vocês podem andar por aí dizendo que estou com vocês?”

Parece que no Brasil, de certa forma, está na moda ser “evangélico”. Tem de tudo quanto é coisa (boa e também ruim) gospel. Multidões se aglomeram nas caminhadas “para Jesus”, os templos se lotam de gente dando testemunho de sua “fé”, erguendo mãos em adoração, olhos cheios de lágrimas. Será que todas essas pessoas estão mesmo comprometidas com Jesus? Praticamente qualquer uma delas afirmará concordar com a mensagem do Evangelho e, aliás, muitos citam o nome de Deus a cada frase, como se com ele andassem em tempo integral. Mas… e a vida, como vai? Leia de novo o final do versículo em destaque: “como vocês afirmam”. Essa gente se iludia! Eles afirmavam que Deus estava com eles, mas, que terrível, ele não estava! Quantos não andam hoje por aí citando o nome do Senhor sem de fato comprometer-se com ele?

Talvez seja possível parafrasear assim o versículo em destaque: “busque (de verdade e não só na aparência) o Senhor para ter vida”; não apenas deixar de ser destruído pela calamidade, mas ter vida de verdade e não essa enganação que ilude a muitos, principalmente a si mesmo!

Illusion Bible Reading: Amos 5.1-27   _________________ Seek good, not evil, that they may have life. So the Lord, the God of hosts, be with you, as you say (Amos 5.14). _________________

The words of the prophet Amos transmit a hard judgment against their nation. Basically the message of God is that he was tired of outdoor behavior of the people, who attended holy places and practiced religious acts thinking worship God, but at the same time kept the heart away from him. Several times we found in reading today what else bothers you. Maybe we could say it another way: "do you have a religious behavior, use my name to left and right, but your way of living has absolutely nothing to do with my character. How can you go around saying that I am with you? "

It seems that in Brazil, in a way, it is fashionable to be "Evangelical". Must every thing (good and also bad) gospel. Crowds gather in the hiking "to Jesus," if people flock to temples giving testimony to his faith, raising hands in adoration, eyes filled with tears. I wonder if all these people are really committed to Jesus? Almost any one of them will agree with the message of the Gospel and, incidentally, many cite the name of God to every sentence, as if with him they were full-time. But what about life, how are you? Read again the end of the verse highlighted: "as you claim." If these people fooled! They claimed that God was with them, but, that's terrible, he wasn't! How many don't walk today around quoting the name of the Lord without actually committing yourself to him?

You may be able to paraphrase so the verse highlighted: "seek (and not only in appearance) the Lord to have life"; don't just let it be destroyed by calamity, but have real life and not this deception that eludes many, mostly to himself.
