Em 15 de
novembro de 1889, quando se deu a Proclamação da República, o Brasil deixou de
ser uma monarquia. A destituição de dom Pedro II, feita sem encontrar
resistência por parte do povo, estabeleceu o regime presidencialista no Brasil,
o que deu início a várias mudanças no cenário político, bem como em outras
áreas da vida na nação brasileira. Uma das mudanças que a troca de regime
político trouxe ao país foi a liberdade religiosa. Assim, outras igrejas
cristãs tiveram maior liberdade de culto e de expansão. Em seu livro A Bíblia
no Brasil República, Luiz Antonio Giraldi fala do trabalho então realizado
pelas sociedades bíblicas, que tinham por objetivo tornar a bíblia acessível a
todo o povo brasileiro. A liberdade religiosa fez com que houvesse um crescente
interesse pela Palavra de Deus. “Tudo isso contribuiu para que, nos primeiros
30 anos do Brasil República, a distribuição anual das Escrituras saltasse de 25
mil para 150 mil (exemplares)”, afirma Giraldi.
Jesus ordenou
a seus discípulos que proclamassem o seu ensino, a sua Palavra, por todo o
mundo. Tal proclamação sempre foi afetada pelo cenário político. No texto que
você leu, apesar da grande mudança no cenário político com a morte do rei
Herodes, a palavra de Deus ia sendo pregada e se espalhando por todos os
lugares – lembrando que não havia livros naquela época! Assim, quer num cenário
de repressão e perseguição religiosa, ou havendo liberdade de culto e permissão
legal para a distribuição da Bíblia, a Palavra de Deus atinge o coração das
pessoas ao ser proclamada, quer pelo testemunho daqueles que a divulgam, quer
por meio da sua distribuição. E quando ela é lida e ganha sentido, ocorre uma
transformação naquele que a lê. Assim, ao abrir-se para Deus, um novo regime se
estabelece no coração humano: Deus vem governar sua vida e sua história com seu
amor e graça.

On
15 November 1889, when the proclamation of the Republic, Brazil ceased to be a
monarchy. The dismissal of dom Pedro II, made without meeting resistance on the
part of the people, has established the presidential regime in Brazil, which
has initiated a number of changes in the political landscape, as well as in
other areas of life in the brazilian nation. One of the changes that the
exchange of political regime has brought to the country was religious freedom.
Thus, other Christian churches had greater freedom of worship and of expansion.
In his book the Bible in Brazil, Luiz Antonio Giraldi Republic talks about the
work done by the Bible societies, which aimed to make the Bible accessible to
all people. Religious freedom meant that there was a growing interest by the
word of God. "All of this has contributed to that, in the first 30 years
of the Republic of Brazil, the annual distribution of scripture to jump from
25000 to 150,000 (copies)," said Giraldi.
Jesus
commanded his disciples to announce his teaching, his word throughout the
world. Such proclamation has always been affected by the political environment.
In the text you read, despite the major shift in the political landscape with
the death of King Herod, the word of God was preached and spreading all over
the place – noting that there were no books at that time. So, you want in a
repression and religious persecution, or going on freedom of worship and legal
permission for the distribution of the Bible, the word of God reaches people's
hearts to be proclaimed by the testimony of those who disseminate or by means
of its distribution. And when it is read and earn respect, occurs a transformation

heart: God comes to rule his life and his story with his love and grace.
