Bênçãos da obediência Leitura bíblica: Deuteronômio 28.1-8 _________________ Se vocês obedecerem fielmente ao Senhor, seu Deus, e seguirem cuidadosamente todos os seus mandamentos que hoje lhes dou, o Senhor, o seu Deus, os colocará muito acima de todas as nações da terra (Deuteronômio 28.1). _________________

Deus escolheu o povo de Israel como seu “porta-voz” para a humanidade. Para isso, deu-lhe uma legislação. O livro de Deuteronômio, do qual lemos hoje, é conhecido como o livro da “segunda lei”. Não que Deus tenha dado duas leis ao seu povo, mas é uma repetição que confirma e reforça a importância dos seus mandamentos. Ainda assim, tanto Israel como nós tendemos a desobedecer-lhes – comportamento conhecido como “pecado”.

A insistência em que ele, Deus, é Senhor, é de imensurável importância. Significa que Deus é eterno e está presente em toda parte. Não há como escapar dele: lá na frente o encontraremos, seja para nos premiar, seja para um doloroso acerto de contas. Neste texto Deus nos revela a sua gloriosa misericórdia. Se obedecermos, a bênção será automática.

A bênção os acompanharia no campo, os casais seriam férteis, os rebanhos se multiplicariam, o trabalho no lar seria bem sucedido, e Israel seria como José, um dos seus patriarcas, que era bem-sucedido em tudo no que ele punha a mão (confira em Gênesis 39.2,23). No Antigo Testamento há muitos exemplos daquele pequeno povo prevalecendo sobre outras nações. Incrível!

A promessa de bênção para os que obedecem perdura até hoje, mas desde que Cristo veio para incluir nela todos os povos e não apenas Israel, a bênção adquiriu outra dimensão. Enquanto a obediência no Israel de ontem trazia paz coletiva, a bênção de hoje é a paz presente no coração dos que obedecem. Embora o cristão participe de todas as dificuldades típicas do ambiente em que vive, essa paz lhe proporciona uma vantagem que acaba por se refletir em uma vida bem melhor que a da média. (MJT)

Blessings of obedience Bible reading: Deuteronomy 28.1-8 _________________ If you faithfully obey the Lord, your God, and follow carefully all his commandments that I give you today, the Lord, your God, the place far above all the Nations of the Earth (Deuteronomy 28.1). _________________

God chose the nation of Israel as his "spokesperson" for mankind. To do this, gave him a legislation. The book of Deuteronomy, which we read today, is known as the book of "second law". Not that God has given two laws to his people, but is a repetition that confirms and reinforces the importance of his commandments. Still, both Israel as we tend to disobey them – behavior known as "sin".

The insistence that he, God, is it, Sir, is of immeasurable importance. Means that God is eternal and is present everywhere. There's no escaping it: out front will be to reward, either to a painful reckoning. In this text God reveals us his glorious mercy. If you obey, the blessing will be automatic.

The blessing in the field see them through, the couples would be fertile, multiply the flocks, the work at home would be successful, and Israel would be like José, one of its Patriarchs, which was successful in everything he'd put his hand (check out in Genesis .23 39.2). In the Old Testament there are many examples of that small people prevailing over other Nations. Amazing!

The promise of blessing for those who obey endures until today, but since Christ came to include in it all peoples and not just Israel, blessing acquired another dimension. While obedience in Israel yesterday brought peace conference, the blessing of today is peace in the heart of those who obey. Although the Christian participates all the difficulties typical of the environment in which he lives, this peace gives an advantage which turns out to be reflected in a life much better than average. The blessings of God by our obedience to him are the basis for a happy life and full of sense.
