O texto que
você acabou de ler mostra uma surpreendente recusa a um pedido bem
diplomático. Moisés mencionou até que Israel já tinha passado por muitas
dificuldades. Detalhe: os edomitas eram descendentes de Esaú (o irmão traído e
enganado por Jacó, patriarca dos israelitas), portanto devem ter acompanhado a
história daquele povo tão próximo. O rei edomita não foi nada compreensivo e
até respondeu com violência. Aos israelitas coube seguir por outro caminho,
mais difícil.
A atitude daquele povo me fez lembrar da
insensibilidade que encontramos em muitas pessoas hoje. Elas não consideram o
que estamos passando, só esperam que cumpramos nossas tarefas sem erros. Em vez
de demonstrar compaixão, só dificultam as coisas. De atitudes assim resultam o
desrespeito aos idosos e às pessoas com deficiência, a prática do assédio moral
no trabalho e inúmeros problemas nos relacionamentos. Ficamos com a impressão
de que ninguém se importa...
Ainda bem que Deus se importa! Muito tempo depois
do ocorrido, o Senhor vingou Israel. Não somente por esta atitude arrogante do
povo irmão, mas por seu ciúme, ira, ódio (Ezequiel 35.11) e sua constante
hostilidade – a gota d’água foi a ajuda prestada aos babilônios na invasão de
Judá e a alegria demonstrada com a tragédia (veja Obadias 1.13). O Senhor
prometeu destruir os edomitas (há profecias sobre isso no Antigo Testamento,
inclusive um livro inteiro, Obadias) e o fez – em 70 d.C., eles desapareceram.
Mesmo quando as pessoas forem arrogantes e
insensíveis conosco, lembremos que Deus realmente se importa com nossa situação.
Às vezes, ele é o único que conhece e compreende o nosso sofrimento. Ele não
nos cobra a realização de tarefas, mas oferece seu consolo e amor! Além disso,
precisamos lembrar que é a ele que pertence a vingança – se esta for sua
vontade, ele fará algo. (VWR)
Em meio às dificuldades, a única fonte segura de
ajuda é Deus. Ele está sempre atento!

The
text you
just read shows a surprising refusal to a request quite diplomatic. Moses
mentioned until Israel had already passed through many difficulties. Detail:
the edomites were descendants of Esau (brother betrayed and deceived by Jacob,
Patriarch of the Israelites), so they must have been following the story of the
people so close. The Edomite King was not sympathetic and even responded with
violence. The Israelis fit follow another way, more difficult.
The attitude of the people
reminded me of insensitivity that we find in many people today. They do not
consider what we're going through, I just hope that we achieve our tasks
without errors. Instead of showing compassion, just complicate things.
Attitudes like this result the disrespect to the elderly and people with
disabilities, the practice of bullying at work and numerous problems in
relationships. We get the impression that nobody cares...
I'm glad that God cares! Long
afterward, the Lord Avenged Israel. Not only for this arrogant attitude of the
people, but by his brother jealousy, anger, hatred (Ezekiel 35.11) and its
constant hostility-the last straw was the assistance provided to the
Babylonians in the invasion of Judah and the joy shown with tragedy (see
Obadiah 1.13). The Lord promised to destroy the edomites (there are prophecies
about it in the old testament, including an entire book, Obadiah) and the
made-in 70 a.d., they disappeared.
Even when people are arrogant
and insensitive to us, let us remember that God really cares about our
situation. Sometimes, he's the only one who knows and understands our
suffering. He's not charging us the realization of tasks, but offers her solace
and love! In addition, we need to remember that he's the one that belongs to
