Água viva / Living Water

Leitura Bíblica: João 4:5-14

Com alegria vocês tirarão água das fontes da salvação (Isaías 12:3).

Fonte de Água Viva é o Senhor

O teólogo John S. Dunne conta que na época das descobertas marítimas um grupo de marinheiros espanhóis alcançou o continente sul-americano depois de uma viagem árdua. As caravelas começaram a subir o rio Amazonas, uma extensão de água tão imensa que todos pensaram ser a continuação do Oceano Atlântico. Em momento nenhum lhes ocorreu beber daquela água, uma vez que imaginavam ser salgada e, por isso, alguns deles morreram de sede. Parece inacreditável que pessoas possam ter morrido de sede estando tão perto de tanta água. Nos dias de hoje não é muito diferente, por todo lado vemos pessoas falando de Deus, pregando, cantando, distribuindo livros, mas mesmo assim diariamente há pessoas morrendo sem a salvação. Estão tão próximas do Deus da água viva, mas estão morrendo de sede.

Isso ocorre porque muitos estão tentando matar sua sede em cisternas rachadas, que não conseguem reter água, como diz Jeremias (Jeremias 2:13). Pessoas abandonam a Deus e buscam satisfação para seus anseios em coisas passageiras, como que tentando matar a sede com água salgada. Pensam que distrações momentâneas serão suficientes, não se importam de agir de forma que desagrada a Deus. Muitas vezes até percebem que não encontram a satisfação desejada, mas, por desconhecimento ou teimosia, continuam procurando o lugar errado.

Jesus diz para a mulher samaritana: “Quem beber desta água terá sede outra vez, mas quem beber da água que eu lhe der nunca mais terá sede”. Jesus declara que só Ele é capaz de satisfazer de forma definitiva os nossos anseios mais profundos. Se estivermos navegando por este mundo como marinheiros sedentos em busca de água, devemos saber que há rios de água viva correndo ao nosso alcance. No lugar de tristeza, do medo de morrer sem água, podemos com alegria tirar água da fonte de salvação – Jesus. Com Ele é assim: basta pedir, que Ele sacia nossa sede, para sempre. – (HSG)

Living Water

With joy you will draw water from the springs of salvation "(Isaiah 12: 3).

The theologian John s. Dunne says that at the time of maritime discoveries a group of Spanish sailors reached the South American continent after an arduous journey. The caravels began to go up the Amazon River, a stretch of water so vast that every thought be the continuation of the Atlantic Ocean. In no time they occurred that drinking water, once imagined salted and, therefore, some of them died of thirst. It seems unbelievable that people might have died of thirst being so near so much water. Today is not much different, everywhere we see people talking about God, preaching, singing, distributing books, but even then daily there are people dying without salvation. Are so close to the God of the living water, but are dying of thirst.

This is because many are trying to kill its headquarters in split, tanks that fail to hold water, as Jeremiah (Jeremiah 2:13). People abandon God and seek satisfaction for their aspirations in transient things, as if trying to quench the thirst with salt water. Think that momentary distractions will be enough, don't care to act in a way that displeases God. Many times until you realize that they do not find the desired satisfaction, but by ignorance or obstinacy, are still looking for the wrong place.

Jesus says to the Samaritan woman: "If you drink this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I give will never thirst". Jesus declares that he alone is able to satisfy permanently our deepest longings. If we are browsing through this world as thirsty sailors in search of water, we should know that there are rivers of living water running at our disposal. In place of sadness, the fear of dying without water, we can joyfully draw water from the source of salvation-Jesus. With him is like this: just ask, he quenches our thirst, forever. -(HSG)
