Leitura Bíblica: I Coríntios 13:1-7

Com isso todos saberão que vocês são meus discípulos, se vocês se amarem uns aos outros (João 13:35).

Você já ouviu falar em matar por amor? Jogar ácido no rosto de alguém por amor? Pois é, que coisa mais estapafúrdia! Aliás, que palavrinha mais mal entendida! “ Vem me fazer feliz porque te amo”, diz o cantor. Mas amor como entendo (e me parece que é como as Escrituras definem) não é um sentimento, nem muito menos um desejo egoísta que quer usar o objeto amado para satisfazer-se. Amar (de verdade) leva a dar-se. Algo como a mãe que na fria noite de inverno se levanta e vai amamentar o filho que chora, em vez de ficar encolhidinha sob as cobertas gritando. “Não chore filhinho, que mamãe te ama!”

Jesus disse que o amor seria a marca do seu discípulo ou, em português corrente, o amor é o sinal de que alguém está no caminho como aprendiz de Jesus Cristo.

Com esta ordem expressa de Jesus, infelizmente muita gente aderiu ao discurso de amar, quer falando, quer cantando – mas não passa disso. Dizem amar os pobres, amam os animais, defendem a floresta, tudo muito bom – mas com frequência muito maior do que o aceitável, enquanto discursam “desamam” quem está perto. Desamor é diferente de ódio, é mais próximo de desprezo, indiferença. Cantam que amam a Deus, mas “desamam” alguém por quem Ele morreu.

Estou cansado de ouvir notícias de gente que sei ser boa, que move céus e terra para ajudar o próximo, mas alimenta desamor por algum parente. Que é capaz de amar os pobres da China, mas “desama” quem está ao seu lado. Esfalfa-se para ajudar os pobres, mas sequer considera perdoar alguém mais próximo.

Se de fato quisermos ser discípulos de Jesus Cristo, precisamos aprender a amar. E para aprender a amar, não poucas vezes nos é dado conviver com alguém difícil a quem precisamos aprender a perdoar e amar. É bom amar gente de todo o mundo, causas de todos os tipos, é ótimo cantar do nosso amor a Deus, amar precisamos começar pela lição de casa. – MHJ

O próximo a ser amado geralmente está mais perto do que se pensa.

With this all will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another (John 13:35).

Have you heard in killing for love? Throw acid in the face of someone for love? Yeah, that thing more preposterous! In fact, that word more misunderstood! "Come make me happy because I love you", says the singer. But love as I understand (and I believe that is how the Scriptures define) is not a feeling, nor much less a selfish desire that wants to use the object loved to indulge themselves. Love (really) leads to give. something like the mother who in the cold winter night gets up and goes to breastfeed the child who cries, instead of getting Tuck under the covers screaming. "Don't cry baby, Mommy loves you!"

Jesus said that love would be the hallmark of his disciple or, in Portuguese, love is the sign that someone is on the way as an apprentice of Jesus Christ.

With this order of Jesus, unfortunately many people joined the speech of love, either talking or singing-but no more. Say love the poor, love animals, defend the forest, all very good-but often much higher than the acceptable, while speaking " hate " who is near. Disaffection is different from hatred, is closest to contempt, indifference. Sing that love God, but " hate " someone for whom he died.

I'm tired of hearing news of people I know to be good, that moves heaven and Earth to help others, but feeds hatred by any relatives. That is capable of loving the poor of China, but " hate " who is on your side. Esfalfa to help the poor, but even considers forgiving someone.

If indeed we are to be disciples of Jesus Christ, we need to learn to love. And to learn to love, not a few times is given to us to live with someone difficult to whom we need to learn to forgive and to love. It is good to love people from all over the world, causes of all kinds, it's great to sing our love to God, love we need to start with the homework. -MHJ

The next to be loved is usually closer than one thinks.
