Deus é bom / God is good

Leitura Bíblica: Salmos 25:1-10

Bom e justo é o Senhor. (Salmos 25:8 a)

Joaquim Silvério dos Reis é execrado no Brasil como traidor dos inconfidentes mineiros, mas do ponto de vista da Coroa Portuguesa, foi um herói – traidor teria sido Tiradentes. Bom é o promotor que “bota” bandido na cadeia, mas os criminosos não o veem da mesma forma. O jogador que marca a favor do “meu” time é bom, o que faz o mesmo pelo adversário é o “carrasco”. É natural que seja assim, pois temos uma visão umbilical do mundo: julgamos entre bom e mau conforme nosso próprio ponto de vista. Raramente é diferente.

Esta forma de ver as situações contamina nossa compreensão da bondade divina. “Deus é bom”, dizemos quando somos guardados do perigo. Mas, e se o pior acontece, Ele deixa de ser bom? Não, Deus é bom sempre, em qualquer circunstância, e não porque atende nossos pedidos. Bondade é parte do caráter do único Deus, o absoluto Criador de todas as coisas. Mantendo isto claro, poderemos nos livrar de muitos tropeços: posso até não entender os quês e porquês – ou mesmo coisa alguma – mas consigo manter a paz porque sei que Deus é bom.

Talvez fosse isto que Jesus tivesse em mente quando disse: “Neste mundo de vocês terão aflições; contudo, tenham ânimo! Eu venci o mundo” (João 16:33b). Ele afirmou isso pouco tempo antes de passar por traição, prisão, violência, julgamento forjado, tortura e morte vergonhosa. Ele não disse “vou vencer”, mas “venci”. Por quê? Creio que, entre outras coisas, porque não se deixou de moldar pelo padrão da sociedade com a qual conviveu mas manteve-se fiel ao Pai e, consequentemente, a si mesmo. Seu sacrifício na cruz não apenas reabriu a possibilidade de termos um relacionamento com o Pai, mas também de nos tornarmos seus filhos. Tal condição não é um salvo conduto contra dores de cabeça no mundo, mas a certeza de que Deus nos ama e nos conhece individualmente. (MHJ)

Que a confiança na bondade do pai nos dê paz em qualquer circunstância.

God is good

No, God is always good, in any circumstance, and not because it meets our requests. Kindness is part of the character of the single God, the absolute creator of all things. Keeping this clear, we can rid ourselves of many stumbling blocks: I can even do not understand the whats and whys-or even anything-but I can keep the peace because I know that God is good.

Perhaps it was this that Jesus had in mind when he said: "in this world you will have tribulation; However, have courage! I have overcome the world "(John 16:33 (b)). He said that shortly before passing through betrayal, arrest, violence, wrought trial, torture and shameful death. He did not say "I will win", but "I won". Why? I believe that, among other things, because it is not left to shape by default with the society which lived but remained faithful to the father and, consequently, to himself. His sacrifice on the cross not only reopened the possibility of having a relationship with the father, but also to become his children. Such a condition is not a saved passage against headaches in the world, but rest assured that God loves us and knows us individually. (MHJ)

That confidence in the goodness of the father give us peace in any circumstance.
