Olhos Fixos / Eyes Fixed

Leitura Bíblica: Mateus 14:22-33

Pedro saiu do barco, andou sobre as águas e foi na direção de Jesus, Mas, quando reparou no vento, ficou com medo e, começando a afundar, gritou: Senhor, salva-me! (Mateus 14:29b-30).

Os discípulos de Jesus tinham passado por uma experiência maravilhosa: testemunharam a primeira multiplicação dos pães feita por Cristo. Imagino que ainda comentavam tão grande acontecimento à medida que iam mar adentro. Foi um milagre! Mas aos poucos a situação foi mudando. O vento começou a soprar contra o barco. As ondas se agitavam com força. E, num momento, toda aquela alegria do que haviam presenciado se foi. Estavam agora com medo e correndo risco de morte. O pânico era tamanho que ao verem Jesus pensaram ser um fantasma.

Assim pode acontecer na nossa vida. Vivemos momentos nos quais tudo dá certo e vai bem. Mas de repente passamos por situações difíceis, que nos são como fortes ondas agitadas pelo vento. Como gostaríamos de não precisar enfrentá-las! Contudo, Jesus mesmo afirmou que no mundo teríamos aflições e nos encoraja dizendo: “Tenham ânimo!” (João 16:33). Aos discípulos assustados Ele disse: “Coragem! Sou eu. Não tenham medo!” (versículo 27).

Nesses momentos difíceis podemos lembrar-nos do versículo em destaque. Se repararmos nas “ondas que se agitam ao nosso redor”, começaremos a submergir e seremos engolidos por elas. Mas Jesus nos motiva a confiar nEle. Nossos olhos devem estar fixos naquele que é maior do que as ondas do mar.

Se você está passando por aflições, quero convidá-lo a parar por um momento e a fixar seus olhos em Jesus. Ouça o que Ele lhe diz: “Não tenha medo! Eu estou com você! Coragem!” Não importa qual o seu problema, o Senhor é maior do que Ele. Quando Pedro começou a afundar por ter reparado no vento, imediatamente Jesus lhe estendeu o braço, e o mesmo Ele fará por você: não permitirá que você afunde. Tão somente creia e não tenha medo! – MP

Eyes Fixed

Bible reading: Matthew 14:22 -33

Pedro came out of the boat, walked on the water and was in the direction of Jesus, But, when fixed in the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, Lord, save me! (Matthew 14:29 b-30).

The disciples of Jesus had passed by a wonderful experience: witnessed the first multiplication of the loaves made by Christ. I imagine that even became so great event as they went into the sea. It was a miracle! But gradually the situation was changing. The wind began to blow against the boat. The waves if agitated. And, in a moment, all that joy than had seen is gone. Were now scared and running risk of death. The panic was that size to see Jesus thought be a ghost.

So it can happen in our lives. We live in times in which everything goes right and goes well. But suddenly we go through difficult situations, that we are as strong waves stirred by the wind. As we do not need to face them! However, Jesus himself said that in the world we would have afflictions and encourages us saying: "Take courage!" (John 16:33). The disciples frightened he said: "Courage! Am I. Do not be afraid! " (verse 27).

In these difficult times we can remind us of the verse. If you look in "If flutter waves around us", we will start to submerge and be swallowed by them. But Jesus motivates us to trust him. Our eyes should be fixed in that which is greater than the waves of the sea.

If you are going through tribulations, I invite you to stop for a moment and fix your eyes on Jesus. Listen to what he tells you: "don't be afraid! I'm with you! Courage! " No matter what your problem, you is greater than he. When Peter began to sink to have repaired in the wind, immediately Jesus stretched out his arm, and He will do for you: will not allow you to sink. Just believe and don't be afraid! -MP
