Lembre a todos que se sujeitam
aos governantes e às autoridades (Tito 3:1 a).
Se há coisa
difícil de fazer, é obedecer a autoridades. Mas essa obediência é algo que não
só agrada a Deus, como é necessário para sobreviver. Desde muito cedo
precisamos obedecer aos pais, aos professores, ao governo político, em muitos
casos ao patrão numa firma e principalmente a Deus.
E a carta
de Paulo aos Efésios traz uma riqueza de conselhos a respeito da obediência às
autoridades. No sexto capítulo dessa carta, depois de falar do relacionamento
entre pais e filhos, o apóstolo fala do relacionamento entre senhor e escravo,
ou, como diríamos hoje, entre patrão e empregado.
Obedecer ao
patrão nem sempre é uma tarefa fácil, ainda mais quando se trata de alguém de
mesma igreja ou de um parente, ou então quando é uma pessoa que vive de mau
humor. Mas o apóstolo Paulo deixa claro aos cristãos de Éfeso que a hierarquia
de senhor e escravo ou patrão e empregado deve ser respeitada. Aliás, mais que
isso: deve ser orientada por uma nova visão.
O empregado
cristão deve ter a consciência de que acima dos olhos do seu “senhor terreno”
estão os olhos do seu Senhor Celestial. Logo, ele não serve simplesmente ao seu
patrão, mas por meio do seu patrão serve a Deus. Na prática, isso significa
que, estando o patrão presente ou ausente, o ritmo e a qualidade do trabalho continuam
os mesmos. Mas e se você for um patrão cristão? Também a estes o apóstolo Paulo
ordena: “Não os ameaçam (seus escravos, empregados), uma vez que vocês sabem
que o Senhor deles e de vocês está nos céus, e Ele não faz diferença entre as
pessoas”. Ou seja, assim como o empregado deve ser fiel ao patrão como ao
Senhor, assim o patrão deve respeitar seu empregado, colocando-se na “pele

Bosses and Employees
Note to all
who are subject to the rulers and authorities (Titus 3: 1).
If there is a hard thing to
do, is to obey the authorities. But this obedience is something that not only
pleases God, as is necessary to survive. Very early on we need to obey their
parents, to the teachers, to the political Government, in many cases the boss
in a firm and especially to God.
And the letter of Paul to the
Ephesians brings a wealth of advice on the obedience to the authorities. In the
sixth chapter of that letter, after speaking of the relationship between
parents and children, the Apostle speaks of the relationship between master and
slave, or, as we would say today, between boss and employee.
Obey the boss is not always an
easy task, especially when it comes to someone of the same church or a
relative, or when is a person who lives in a bad mood. But the Apostle Paul
makes it clear to the Christians of Ephesus that the Lord and slave hierarchy
or boss and employee must be respected. In fact, more than that: must be guided
by a new vision.
The Christian servant must
have the awareness that above the eyes of their "Lord" are the eyes
of your Lord in heaven. Therefore, it is not intended simply to your boss, but
through his boss offers to God. In practice, this means that, while the
employer present or absent, the pace and the quality of the work remain the
same. But what if you're a boss Christian? These also the Apostle Paul enjoins:
"do not threaten them (their slaves, employees), since you know that both
theirs and yours is in heaven, and He makes no difference between people".
