Leitura Bíblica: I Samuel 18:28-30

Se Deus é por nós, quem será contra nós? (Romanos 8:31b).

É impressionante a cegueira espiritual de Saul! Como poderia compreender que o Senhor estava com Davi e, mesmo assim, tentar mata-lo? Ele não percebeu que seu fracasso era certo?

Os versículos anteriores ao texto lido hoje relatam que o rei arquitetou vários estratagemas para acabar com Davi. Prometeu-lhe uma das filhas como esposa, desde que ele lutasse com os filisteus. Planejava a sua morte usando os inimigos como instrumentos. Por incrível que pareça, mais tarde Davi fez o mesmo com relação a Urias e, apesar do perdão divino, carregou para sempre essa mancha sobre seu nome, mas, naquele momento, Davi recusou a proposta porque não se viu em condições de ser genro do rei.

Saul tentou novamente a isca do casamento, agora com a filha que ele percebe estar apaixonada por Davi. Este continua a julgar-se indigno de tão grande honraria. Saul pensou: “Agora a armadilha será bem-sucedida”. Para merecer a filha do rei o pretendente deveria ferir 100 filisteus. Davi fez mais: matou o dobro do que fora cobrado. É possível que a filha mais velha visse em Davi uma ameaça à sua família e não tivesse escrúpulos em entregar o esposo nas mãos do raivoso pai. Mas Mical, sua irmã, amava Davi e não entraria no jogo. Como a divina proteção chega na frente quando se trata de alguém a quem Deus ama!

Todas as armadilhas de Saul redundaram em fracasso. Os versículos 29 e 30 nos ensinam uma grandiosa lição! Eles nos contam que cada vez mais o rei se tornava inimigo de Davi, mas o texto termina dizendo que o protegido por Deus defende a causa dos oprimidos. Todos temos momentos difíceis e podemos até ter inimigos que desejam acabar com a nossa vida, mas Deus conhece nossa situação, protege-nos e, de acordo com sua vontade, nos dará a vitória. (MJT)

Mesmo em circunstâncias adversas, Deus protege quem anda com Ele.

Divine Protection

Bible reading: 1 Samuel 18:28 -30

If God is for us, who is against us? (Romans 8:31 b).

It's amazing the spiritual blindness of Saul! How could understand that the Lord was with David, and try to kill him? He didn't notice that his failure was right?

The verses preceding the text read today report that the King hatched several schemes to do away with David. Promised him one of the daughters as a wife, since he fought the Philistines. Planned his death using the enemies as instruments. Oddly enough, later David did the same with respect to Uriah and, despite the divine forgiveness, uploaded forever this stain on your name, but, at that time, David refused the proposal because it was in a position to become the King's son-in-law.

Saul tried to bait marriage again, now with the daughter who he perceives to be in love with David. This keeps the judge himself unworthy of so great honor. Saul thought: "Now the trap will succeed". To merit the daughter of King the applicant should hurt 100 Philistines. David did more: killed twice who was charged. It is possible that the older daughter saw in David a threat to his family and had no qualms about handing her husband at the hands of the angry father. But Michal, his sister, loved David and would not in the game. As the divine protection arrives in front when it comes to someone whom God loves!

All the pitfalls of Saul resulted in failure. The verses 29 and 30 in teach a great lesson! They tell us that more and more the King became David's enemy, but the text ends by saying that the protected by God defends the cause of the oppressed. We all have tough times and we may even have enemies who wish to end our lives, but God knows our situation, protects us and, according to his will, will give us the victory. (MJT)
