Paradoxo cristão

Aqueles que sofrem de acordo com a vontade de
Deus devem confiar sua vida ao seu fiel Criador e praticar o bem (1 Pedro
4.19).

Alegria no
sofrimento é um paradoxo genuinamente cristão. O apóstolo Pedro sabia muito bem
que, se o sofrimento que passamos foi provocado por alguém, logo surge o desejo
de pagarmos na mesma moeda. Daí a instrução do versículo em destaque.
Alguns
aspectos podem ajudar-nos a compreender o paradoxo da alegria no sofrimento. O
primeiro é que o único sofrimento que vale a pena é aquele por amor a Cristo.
Outro é que, se estou sofrendo porque fiz algo errado, é melhor ser cobrado
agora do que na eternidade. Geralmente damos o nome de remorso a tal
reconhecimento. Outro aspecto é que o sofrimento é um importante caminho para a
glória. Confira, por exemplo, 2 Coríntios 4.17. Ainda outro é que o
sofrimento pode redundar na purificação das comunidades cristãs. Quando leio
sobre a atitude, a conduta e as declarações de cristãos que estão sofrendo
perseguição em outros países, percebo uma espiritualidade muitíssimo elevada em
comparação com a minha. Nosso Deus é maravilhoso, pois jamais ficará devendo
algo a alguém!
O último
aspecto levanta uma pergunta. Que dizer do sofrimento originado por alguém que
pertence ao povo de Deus? Aí o resultado é glória redobrada, pois, “os
misericordiosos obterão misericórdia” (Mateus 5.7) e, pecadores como
somos, quem de nós não precisa de misericórdia?
O apóstolo nos
desafia a não olhar para o sofrimento como algo estranho. Ele faz parte da
existência humana. Buscar significado para a existência humana fora dos princípios
bíblicos é a maior dificuldade que os filósofos enfrentam. Eles não conseguem
explicar o sofrimento nem individual, nem da humanidade como um todo, mas a
alegria que o acompanha quando se alia ao amor de Cristo resolve a questão.

Joy
in suffering is a genuinely Christian paradox. The Apostle Peter knew very well
that, if the misery we've been through was caused by someone, just the desire
to pay in kind. Hence the statement of the verse highlighted.
Some
aspects can help us to understand the paradox of joy in suffering. The first is
that the only suffering worth is that for the sake of Christ. Another is that,
if I'm suffering because I did something wrong, you better be charged now than
in eternity. We usually give the name of remorse to such recognition. Another
aspect is that suffering is an important way to glory. Check out, for example,
2 Corinthians 4.17. Yet another is that suffering can result in purification of
Christian communities. When I read about the attitude, the conduct and
statements of Christians who are suffering persecution in other countries, I
realize a spirituality extremely high compared to mine. Our God is wonderful,
because it will never owe something to someone!
The
last aspect raises a question. What about the suffering originated by someone
who belongs to the people of God? Then the result is even more glory because,
"the merciful shall obtain mercy" (Matthew 5.7) and sinners as we
are, who we don't need mercy?
The
Apostle challenges us not to look at suffering as something strange. It is part
of human existence. Seek meaning for human existence outside the biblical
principles is the biggest difficulty faced by philosophers. They can't explain
the suffering individual, nor even of humanity as a whole, but the joy that
accompanies it when it combines the love of Christ solves the issue.
