Leitura Bíblica: Efésios 2:1-10

(Jesus) levou em seu corpo os nossos pecados sobre o madeiro, a fim de que morrêssemos para os pecados e vivêssemos para a justiça; por suas feridas vocês foram curados (I Pedro 2:24).

Conheço pessoas que não gostam de ler os resultados de exames médicos por medo de saber o diagnóstico – ainda mais quando se trata de uma biópsia. Há também, aqueles que não gostam de ler a Bíblia. Uns alegam falta de tempo, outros dizem que é um livro de difícil compreensão, obsoleto, cheio de fantasias e de leitura enfadonha.

Ambos, a Bíblia e o diagnóstico médico, mostram a real condição do homem. O exame informa ao paciente seu estado de saúde; a Bíblia mostra ao leitor sua verdadeira condição espiritual diante de Deus.

Há, infelizmente, casos em que o paciente constata que sofre de um mal incurável. O diagnóstico é escrito de maneira fria, insensível, e não traz medidas que possam mudar a indesejável situação. A Bíblia revela ao leitor que ele é pecador (Romanos 3:23), ou seja, desagrada constantemente a Deus, e que esse mal espiritual entrou no mundo por um só homem e contaminou a todos (Romanos 5:12). O triste diagnóstico bíblico é: “O salário do pecado é a morte” (Romanos 6:23a). Todavia, ela mostra ao “paciente” espiritual que há possibilidade de cura: “Mas o dom gratuito de Deus é a vida eterna em Cristo Jesus, nosso Senhor” (Romanos 6:23b). No versículo em destaque ficamos sabendo o que acontece com nossos “males espirituais”.

A verdade bíblica é um bálsamo para nossa alma, principalmente para aqueles que temem enfrentar a verdade sobre sua situação espiritual. O texto de hoje nos informa que, embora mortos espiritualmente, Deus demonstrou seu grande amor e misericórdia nos dando vida em Cristo. Isso é pura graça divina, não se deve a qualquer mérito nosso. Tudo porque “Deus amou o mundo de tal maneira que deu seu Filho Unigênito, para que todo o que nele crê não pereça, mas tenha a vida eterna” (João 3:16) – (MNL)

Nossa situação espiritual é grave, mas há cura em Jesus! 



Diagnosis

Bible reading: Ephesians 2: 1-10

Jesus took our sins in his body on the tree, to die for our sins and lived for Justice; by his wounds you were healed (1 Peter 2:24).

I know people who don't like to read the results of medical examinations for fear of knowing the diagnosis-even more so when it comes to a biopsy. There are also those who do not like reading the Bible. Some claim lack of time, others say it is a book difficult to understand, obsolete, full of fantasies and boring read.

Both the Bible and the medical diagnosis, show the real human condition. The exam informs the patient his State of health; the Bible shows the reader his true spiritual condition before God.

There are, unfortunately, cases in which the patient finds that suffers from an incurable evil. The diagnosis is written so cold, insensitive, and does not bring measures that may change the undesirable situation. The Bible reveals to the reader that he is sinful (Romans 3:23), that is, do not like constantly God, and that this spiritual evil entered the world through one man and infected everyone (Romans 5:12). The sad diagnosis is biblical: "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). However, it shows the "patient" there is possibility of spiritual healing: "But the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23 (b)). Featured in the verse we learn what happens to our "spiritual ills".

Biblical truth is a balm for our soul, especially for those who are afraid to face the truth about their situation. Today the text informs us that although dead spiritually, God showed his great love and mercy in giving life in Christ. This is pure divine grace is not due to any merit our. All because "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16) – (MNL)

Our spiritual situation is serious, but there is healing in Jesus!
