Leitura Bíblica: Números 23:16-26
Deus não é homem para que
minta, nem filho de homem para que se arrependa. Acaso ele fala, e deixa de
agir? Acaso promete, e deixa de cumprir? (Números 23:19).
Quando o
povo de Israel estava a caminho de Canaã, a terra que Deus lhe prometeu,
acamparam nas campinas de Moabe, além do Jordão, perto de Jericó. Vendo o
enorme povo, os moabitas ficaram com medo. Seu rei mandou chamar Balaão, para
que este amaldiçoasse os israelitas. Ele foi, mas somente pôde pronunciar o que
Deus lhe pôs na boca. E em todas as ocasiões Balaão pronunciou palavras de
bênção e não de maldição sobre o povo.
Em Gênesis
encontramos o início da história de Israel. Deus fala Abrão: “Farei de você um
grande povo, e o abençoarei. Tornarei famoso o seu nome, e você será uma
benção. Abençoarei os que o abençoarem e amaldiçoarei os que o amaldiçoarem e
por meio de você todos os povos da terra serão abençoados” (Gênesis 12:2-3). No
texto de hoje fica evidente que Deus estava cuidando de seu povo e cumprindo
sua palavra. Ao longo de toda a história, aquilo que prometeu Ele realizou.
Vivemos
numa época em que nos são feitas muitas promessas, principalmente em anos
eleitorais. Já estamos acostumados com o fato de que a maioria delas não se
cumprem. E essa realidade faz com que muitas vezes nos tornemos incrédulos em
relação ao que nos é prometido. O versículo em destaque mostra que nosso Deus é
diferente. Quando Ele fala, também age. Quando promete, Ele cumpre.
Na Bíblia
encontramos muitas promessas divinas. Teremos dificuldade em crer nelas se não
confiarmos plenamente em Deus, achando que Ele é falho como o ser humano.
Contudo, assim como Deus cumpriu todas as suas promessas para com o povo de
Israel, Ele cumprirá as que fez a nós. Quero desafiá-lo a encontrar algumas
delas na Bíblia e a crer firmemente que elas se cumprirão. Lembre-se: Deus não
é homem para que minta. Ele é fiel. – (MP)
Quando Deus promete, Ele não deixa
de cumprir.

God is not
man to lie, nor a son of man to repent. Chance he speaks, and fails to act?
Random promises, and fails to meet? (Numbers 23:19).
When the people of Israel were
on their way to Canaan, the land that God promised him, pitched in camps of
Moab, beyond Jordan, near Jericho. Seeing the huge people, the Moabites were
scared. Their King sent for Balaam, for this curse the Israelites. He was, but
could only pronounce what God you put in your mouth. And in all occasions
Balaam pronounced words of blessing and curse not on the people.
In Genesis we find the early
history of Israel. God tells Abram: "I will make you a great people, and I
will bless. Become famous with your name, and you will be a blessing. I will
bless those who bless and curse those who curse and through you all the peoples
of the Earth will be blessed (Genesis 12: 2-3). In today's text is clear that
God was taking care of his people and fulfilling his word. Throughout history,
what He had promised.
We live in an age in which we
are made a lot of promises, especially in election years. We are already
accustomed to the fact that most of them do not comply. And this reality causes
often become disbelievers in relation to what has been promised. The featured
verse shows that our God is different. When he talks, also acts. When promises,
He meets.
In the Bible we find many
divine promises. We will have difficulty in believing in them if you do not
fully trust in God, thinking that He is flawed as human beings. However, just
as God has fulfilled all its promises to the people of Israel, he will fulfill
the who made us. I challenge you to find some of them in the Bible and believe
firmly that they shall comply with. Remember: God is not man to lie. He is
faithful. -(MP)
When God promises, He does not fail to meet.
