Gratidão / Gratitude

Leitura Bíblica: II Crônicas 24:17-22

Quem me oferece sua gratidão como sacrifício honra-me, e eu mostrarei a salvação de Deus ao que anda nos meus caminhos (Salmos 50:23).

Lembro-me de quando era adolescente e minha mãe, depois de economizar certa quantia, fruto de seu trabalho de costureira, presenteou a mim e a meus irmãos com uma linda camiseta. Aproveitou para presentear um amigo do mesmo modo. Passado algum tempo, mamãe ficou intrigada porque o menino nunca aparecia com a camiseta que ela dera. Percebi que, além de ficar triste, minha mãe viu ingratidão na atitude dele. Perguntei várias vezes a ele por que não usava a camiseta e sempre recebia respostas evasivas, demonstrando que ele não tinha dado o devido valor àquele presente. O texto de hoje também nos apresenta um personagem que não foi grato: o rei Joás. Quando o seu pai, o rei Acazias, morreu, sua avó reinou em seu lugar e matou todos os seus irmãos. Sua tia Jeoseba, casada com o sacerdote Joiada, o escondeu por seis anos no templo, livrando-o da morte, e aos sete anos o fez o rei de Judá (II Crônicas 23). Após a morte de Joiada, Joás esqueceu os bons ensinamentos que aprendeu com aquele sacerdote e começou a desviar-se de Deus. Um dia, o filho de Joiada, Zacarias, o advertiu sobre seus erros, e vários líderes de Judá não aceitaram a maneira pela qual ele tratou o rei e o mataram. E o pior: Joás não levou em conta o que pai de Zacarias tinha feito por ele quando menino  e não fez nada para impedir a morte do filho daquele que afinal, contribuiu com boa parte para o sucesso do seu reinado. Quanta ingratidão! Qualquer pessoa educada sabe que deve agradecer quando recebe um presente, mas a verdadeira gratidão também se reflete de outras maneiras: falando bem de quem nos presenteou, cuidando do presente recebido e procurando agradar à pessoa que se mostrou generosa para conosco. A gratidão deve fazer parte da nossa vida. Sejamos gratos. – (KCB)

Tudo o que temos vem de Deus. A única coisa que nós podemos dar a Ele é nossa gratidão.

Gratitude

Bible reading: 2 Chronicles 0:17 -22

Who gives me their gratitude as a sacrifice honor me, and I will show the salvation of God to walk in my ways (Psalm 50: 23).

I remember as a teenager and my mother, then to save certain amount, the result of his work as dressmaker, presented to me and my brothers with a beautiful shirt. Took the opportunity to give a friend the same way. After a while, MOM was intrigued because the boy never appeared with the t-shirt that she had given. I realized that, besides getting sad, my mom saw ingratitude in his attitude. I asked several times why he did not wear the shirt and always received evasive answers, demonstrating that he had not given the due value to the present. Today's text also presents us with a character who wasn't grateful: the King Joash. When his father, King Ahaziah died, his grandmother reigned in his stead and killed all his brothers. His aunt Jeoseba, married the priest Jehoiada, hid for six years at Temple, ridding it of death, and at the age of seven years made him the King of Judah (II Chronicles 23). After the death of Jehoiada, Joash forgot the good teachings he learned from that priest and began to stray away from God. One day, the son of Jehoiada, Zechariah, warned about their mistakes, and several leaders of Judah did not accept the way in which he treated the King and killed him. And the worst: Joash did not take into account what Zechariah's father had made for him when a boy and did nothing to prevent his son's death that after all, contributed much to the success of his reign. What ingratitude! Any educated person knows that should thank when you receive a gift, but the true gratitude is also reflected in other ways: speaking well of who presented us, taking care of the gift received and looking to please the person who proved generous to us. The gratitude must be part of our lives. Let us be thankful. –(KCB)
