profecia

O Senhor restaurará o esplendor de Jacó; restaurará o esplendor
de Israel, embora os saqueadores tenham devastado e destruído as suas
videiras (Naum 2.2).

Os olhares das pessoas estavam cheios de
perplexidade. Como Deus permite que o povo que ele chama de seu escolhido fique
nessa situação? Os assírios escravizavam Israel. Tiravam tudo que podiam.
Exibiam seu poderoso exército pelas ruas da capital, passavam por cima de quem
ficasse à frente dos carros de guerra.
Naum começa dando um retrato de Deus. Paciente,
sim, mas ai daqueles que abusam da sua paciência. Depois de descrever o caráter
de Deus, Naum profetiza a respeito da ação divina contra a prepotência de
Nínive. A profecia ainda se cumpriria, mas é enunciada como se já tivesse
acontecido. Deus puniria os assírios pelo que eles vinham fazendo com Israel.
O valor da profecia é sempre nos trazer um ensino
do que Deus é. Ele é misericordioso, mas é justo. O que aconteceu aos povos que
se julgaram donos do destino dos outros pode ser transferido para o campo
pessoal. Cada cristão é um escolhido do Senhor. Ainda que sejamos humilhados
pelo inimigo e pelos seus seguidores, é só esperar que o Senhor restaurará
nossa alma. Nenhum sofrimento deveria levar-nos a mudar de lado e pensar que
haverá vantagens em passar para o inimigo. Nenhum poder pode abalar a Deus, mas
nós poderemos ser abalados, se em vez de confiarmos nele passarmos a confiar
unicamente em nossas forças.
No entanto, a Escritura Sagrada e suas profecias
aumentam nossa confiança e esperança em Deus. Ela tem o poder de nos trazer paz
nas horas difíceis e de tentação. Israel aprendeu a confiar na Escritura e,
depois do sofrimento, passou a não confiar em nenhum outro poder.

looks of the people were full of perplexity. As
God allows the people he calls his choice to stay in that situation? The
Assyrians are slaves to Israel. They took everything they could. Displayed his

However, the Scripture and their prophecies increase our trust and hope
in God. She has the power to bring us peace in difficult times and temptation.
Israel has learned to rely on Scripture and, after suffering, went on to not
trust any other power.
