Nos dias de
Jesus, seu povo era dominado pelos romanos. Havia uma lei que ditava: se um
cidadão romano estivesse carregando um fardo e encontrasse um judeu pelo
caminho, poderia obrigar este a carregar seu fardo por uma milha. Imaginem o
mau humor dos judeus quando eram submetidos a essa lei. Mas Jesus lhes ensina
que se alguém os obrigasse a andar uma milha, eles deviam se dispor a andar
duas. Essa disposição de servir é uma marca do cidadão do Reino de Deus – o que
não é fácil de entender e, menos ainda, de praticar.
Sei de um “causo” acontecido em uma cidadezinha: ali morava um cristão
com sua família que, como outros de lá, criava galinhas e plantava uma pequena
horta. Ele mantinha algumas galinhas, seus pintainhos e um galo soltos no
quintal. Perto morava seu cunhado, dono de uma lanchonete. Ocorre que o galo do
cristão gostava de ir até lá para beliscar cascas de pães ou restos de comida
que caíam pelo chão. Isso incomodava o dono da lanchonete, que um dia reclamou:
“O seu galo está perturbando minha lanchonete; ele suja o piso, incomoda os
fregueses, bica as crianças e blá, blá, blá…” O cristão, depois de ouvir tudo,
decidiu com dor no coração: “Se o galo é o problema, vou resolvê-lo”. Matou o
galo e, com ele, preparou uma “galinha ao molho pardo”.
Dias depois, seu cunhado veio falar com ele novamente: “Amigo, nós não
pudemos ir fazer compras e estamos precisando de uma mistura para o almoço das
crianças. Você não pode me dar um dos seus franguinhos?” Pergunto a você,
leitor: o que faria nessa situação? Como responderia àquele pedido? “Ah! Você
me obrigou a matar meu galo de estimação, não é? Então…”
Pois saibam
que o cristão foi até o galinheiro, pegou seu melhor frango e o deu ao cunhado
com um sorriso nos lábios. Esta é, finalmente, a atitude do verdadeiro cristão,
andar a segunda milha!

In
the days of Jesus, his people was dominated by the Romans. There was a law that
dictated: If a Roman citizen was carrying a burden and find a Jew by the way,

Jews when they were subjected to this law. But Jesus teaches them that if
anyone requires you to walk a mile, they should be willing to walk two. This
willingness to serve is a citizen of the Kingdom of God-which is not easy to
understand and, even less, to practice.
I know a "cause" happened in a small
town: there lived a Christian with his family who, like others there, raised
chickens and planted a small garden. He kept a few chickens, their chicks and a
cock on the loose in the yard. Close lived his brother-in-law, owner of a
diner. Occurs the cock of the Christian liked to go there to munch on bread shells
or scraps of food that fell on the floor. That bothered him the owner of the
diner, one day claimed: "his cock is disturbing my Diner; He dirty the
floor, it bothers the customers, peck children and blah, blah, blah. " The
Christian, after hearing everything, decided with heartache: "If the cock
is the problem, I'm going to solve it". Killed the rooster and, with him,
prepared a "chicken to Brown gravy".
Days later, his brother-in-law came to talk to him
again: "Friend, we couldn't go shopping and we need a mix for lunch for
the children. Can't you give me one of your chickens? " I ask you, the
reader: what would you do in this situation? How would you respond to that
request? "Ah! You forced me to kill my pet rooster, right? So ... "
Because
they know that Christian was to the chicken coop, took his best chicken and
gave it to the brother-in-law with a smile on his lips. This is, finally, the
attitude of the true Christian, walk the second mile!
