Soldados Leitura bíblica: Números 26.1-4;51  _________________ Combata o bom combate da fé. Tome posse da vida eterna, para a qual você foi chamado (1 Timóteo 6.12b). _________________

Os israelitas peregrinaram por décadas pelo deserto, a caminho da terra prometida por Deus aos seus antepassados. Conforme a orientação divina, construíram um santuário e realizavam rituais de adoração necessários à formação espiritual do povo, coordenados pelos sacerdotes e levitas escolhidos e treinados para o serviço religioso. Além de tomar posse da terra de Canaã, Israel seria instrumento do juízo de Deus sobre os povos que a habitavam. Estes, devido à sua iniquidade, teriam de ser expulsos de lá. No texto de hoje vemos que o povo deveria ser contado. Os maiores de vinte anos formariam o exército israelita. Além disso, era preciso conhecer e organizar as famílias para que a terra fosse dividida entre elas. Tudo isso fazia parte dos preparativos para o cumprimento da promessa divina.

Esse relato ilustra muito bem a vida cristã. Quando alguém entrega sua vida a Cristo, passa a ter novos objetivos (servir e agradar a Deus). A beleza da vida cristã está no grande significado que ela passa a ter. Além disso, o cristão agora faz parte do exército divino, como soldado de Cristo (2 Timóteo 2.3). Apesar de liberto da escravidão à sua rebeldia contra Deus, ele ainda não está na terra prometida – o Céu. Enquanto não chega lá, vive num mundo dominado por padrões contrários aos de Deus e habitado em sua maioria por pessoas que não conhecem a Deus. A luta do soldado cristão não é contra essas pessoas, mas contra o senhor a que, querendo ou não, elas obedecem, e também contra sua própria tendência ao mal. Assim como aconteceu com os israelitas, a jornada não é fácil, mas repleta de batalhas pelo caminho. Porém, como eles, os filhos de Deus podem ter a certeza de que a promessa divina será cumprida.

Fazer parte do exército de Deus é um privilégio que resulta em gratidão e louvor. Você já está em suas fileiras como soldado de Cristo?
