Senhor da nossa história

Leitura bíblica: Daniel 4.33-37

Como barro nas mãos do oleiro, assim são vocês nas minhas mãos, ó comunidade de Israel (Jeremias 18.6b).

Em Daniel 4, o rei Nabucodonosor conta o que o Senhor havia feito em sua vida. Ele vivia próspero em seu palácio quando teve um sonho que o deixou alarmado: uma árvore cresceu até sua copa encostar no céu e poder ser vista de todos os cantos da terra; mas ela corria o risco de ser cortada, restando apenas o seu toco e raízes. Na interpretação dada por Deus a Daniel (que também ficou em choque), a árvore era Nabucodonosor, cujo poder lhe subira à cabeça. Por decreto de Deus, ele seria humilhado, vivendo por certo período como um louco. Deus falou com Nabucodonosor por meio deste sonho e da sua interpretação (veja também Jó 33.14-18). Daniel então lhe aconselhou: “Renuncia a teus pecados e à tua maldade, pratica a justiça e tem compaixão dos necessitados. Talvez, então, continues a viver em paz” (verso 27).

Foi-lhe dado um ano inteiro para aprender a lição e transformar as suas atitudes, mas Nabucodonosor conscientemente disse “não” e continuou orgulhando-se de suas obras. O sonho se cumpriu e o rei tornou-se como um vaso de barro nas mãos do oleiro (veja o versículo em destaque). Deus é o Deus da misericórdia e da oportunidade, mas também o Pai que nos disciplina. O que ele quis dizer a Nabucodonosor é resumido e declarado três vezes neste capítulo: “o Altíssimo domina sobre os reinos dos homens e os dá a quem quer” (versos 17, 25, 32). Para Nabucodonosor, Deus reinava “lá em cima”. Mas ele aprendeu a lição: agora louvava, exaltava e glorificava ao Rei do céu (verso 37). Ele conheceu um Ser muito maior do que ele próprio e seu poderoso império, e teve de reconhecer que é Deus quem comanda a História e realmente tem poder!

In Daniel 4, King Nebuchadnezzar what the Lord had done in your life. He lived a happy in your Palace when he had a dream that left him alarmed: a tree grew to Cup your touch heaven and can be seen from all corners of the Earth; but she was in danger of being cut, leaving only your stump and roots. In the interpretation given by God to Daniel (who was also in shock), the tree was Nebuchadnezzar, whose power you climbed into my head. By Decree of God, he would be humiliated, living for a certain period. God spoke with Nebuchadnezzar through this dream and your interpretation (see also Job 33.14-18). Daniel then advised him: "give up your sins and your evil, practice justice and has compassion for those in need. Perhaps, then, continue to live in peace "(verse 27).

He was given a year to learn the lesson and transform their attitudes, but Nebuchadnezzar consciously said no and kept boasting of his works. The dream came true and the King became like a pot of clay in the Potter's hands (see verse headlines). God is the God of mercy and of opportunity, but also the father discipline us. What did he mean the Nebuchadnezzar is summarized, and declared three times in this chapter: "the Almighty dominates over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone" (verses 17, 25, 32). For Nebuchadnezzar, God reigned "upstairs". But he learned his lesson: now praised, exalted and praised the King of Heaven (verse 37). He met a much larger than itself and your mighty Empire, and had to recognize that it is God who runs the story and actually have power!
