Trabalho

Tudo o que fizerem, seja em palavra ou em ação,
façam-no em nome do Senhor Jesus, dando por meio dele graças a Deus Pai (Colossenses
3.17).

“O trabalho dignifica o
homem”. Você já deve ter ouvido alguma vez essa frase como sinônimo da
necessidade e da importância do trabalho. Desde cedo aprendi que trabalhar é
essencial. Nunca fui obrigado a fazer o que não queria, mas incentivado a
pequenas tarefas: lavar a calçada de casa e a louça, cortar a grama. Também
entreguei jornal e mais tarde auxiliei num comércio contando estoque ou
digitando fichas cadastrais de clientes. Quanto mais experiência adquiria, mais
responsabilidade e trabalho eu recebia. Proporcionalmente também o ganho
aumentava. Aprendi que, se quisesse ter algo, ser merecedor daquilo, devia
trabalhar.
Paulo critica os cristãos
de Tessalônica que não queriam trabalhar. Eles entenderam errado o ensino sobre
o retorno de Jesus – se ele ia voltar logo, para que trabalhar? Paulo também
acreditava na segunda vinda de Cristo, mas não ficou ocioso por isso. Ele
fabricava tendas (Atos 18.3) para ganhar seu sustento e não depender de ofertas
que fossem um peso para as igrejas – mas também defendia que pregar o Evangelho
era um trabalho digno de remuneração! (1 Timóteo 5.17-18).
Paulo viveu assim para
demonstrar que o trabalho é importante. Por meio dele somos presenteados
diariamente com o sustento. Porém, não somos seres humanos melhores ou piores
porque trabalhamos ou deixamos de trabalhar. A dignidade de uma pessoa não está
ligada à sua produtividade, mas ao fato de ser criada (Gênesis 1.26-31, Salmo
8) e amada (João 3.16) por Deus.
A frase citada no início
deste texto lembra que somos dignos no sentido de sermos merecedores do salário
relativo ao nosso trabalho. Mas trabalhando ou não, você é digno porque Deus o
ama. Portanto, faça jus à sua dignidade e dê o seu melhor, sabendo que é isto
que Deus deseja de você.

"Work
ennobles man." You may have heard some time this phrase as a synonym of
necessity and importance of the work. From an early age I learned that work is
essential. I was never forced to do anything you don't want to, but encouraged
the small tasks: washing the sidewalk of House and the dishes, mow the lawn.
Also I gave newspaper and later worked in a counting stock trade or entering registration
sheets. The more experience acquired, more responsibility and work I received.
The gain also increased proportionally. I learned that if I wanted something,
be worthy of it, should work.
Paul
criticizes Christians of Thessalonica who didn't want to work. They got it
wrong the teaching about the return of Jesus – if he was coming back soon, so
that work? Paul also believed in the second coming of Christ, but didn't stay
idle for that. He manufactured tents (Acts 18.3) to earn your livelihood and
not rely on deals that were a burden to the churches – but also argued that
preaching the Gospel was a work worthy of remuneration. (Timothy 5.17 1-18).
Paulo
lived like this to demonstrate that the work is important. Through him we are
presented daily with keep. However, we are not human beings better or worse
because we work or stop working. The dignity of a person is not linked to your
productivity, but to the fact of being created (Genesis 1.26-31, Psalm 8) and
loved (John 3.16) for God.
The
phrase cited at the beginning of this text reminds us that we are worthy in the
sense of being worthy of salary relative to our work. But working or not, you
are worthy because God loves you. So, do justice to your dignity and your best,
knowing that this is what God desires of you.

The work expresses the dignity that the Lord has given us.
