Ajudar

Leitura bíblica: 2 Reis 4.8-37

Eliseu perguntou a Geazi: “O que se pode fazer por ela?” (2 Reis 4.14a).

Às vezes a vida passa, e não auxiliamos o próximo, nem mesmo aqueles que em algum momento estenderam a mão para nós. A história de hoje mostra uma postura diferente, revelando ações e reações de pessoas que agiram em benefício do próximo. O profeta Eliseu não pediu nada, mas tanto ele quanto seu servo receberam um apoio inesperado da mulher. Já a mulher ajudou por iniciativa própria e também acabou recebendo auxílio. Ela não pediu nada em troca, mas Eliseu comoveu-se com sua bondade e buscou uma forma de presenteá-la também. O que pode ter motivado essa mulher a ajudar desconhecidos? O verso 9 ajuda a entender: ela o descreve como um “santo homem de Deus”. O que Eliseu fazia revelou que era um santo de Deus, e isso a levou a querer fazer algo pelo profeta. Não se contentou em apenas alimentá-lo, mas viu que poderia ir além. Essa compaixão fez com que convencesse seu marido a preparar um lugar para Eliseu descansar quando passasse pela região. Ela nem imaginava que Eliseu a ajudaria muito mais em duas ocasiões futuras. Quando lhe estendeu o braço, não o fez pensando em trocas ou benefícios, e Deus sabia disso.

Assim como Eliseu recebeu a ajuda de que precisava sem pedir por isso, a mulher também acabou recebendo um presente que nem pensava ser possível: um filho. E quando de fato precisou de ajuda, foi humilde e manifestou seu pedido a Eliseu. No sincero desejo de ajudar, ela foi muito mais agraciada. E seu desprendimento fica ainda mais claro quando recebe o auxílio de Eliseu com humildade, prostrando-se diante dele em gratidão: não considerou que o profeta estava obrigado a socorrê-la. Ao pensar em ajudar, recebeu em dobro.

É claro que receber algo em troca não é a motivação correta para ajudar alguém, mas o exemplo da sunamita e Eliseu nos leva a refletir sobre o que nos impede de fazê-lo e se realmente fazemos tudo o que está ao nosso alcance.

Ajudar alguém sem esperar nada em troca revela muito mais  do poder de Deus do que apenas receber auxílio na hora certa.

Sometimes life passes, and not help the next, not even those who at some point extended his hand to us. The story shows a different attitude, actions and reactions of people who acted for the benefit of the next. The Prophet Elisha didn't ask for anything, but both he and your servant received unexpected support from the woman. Already the woman helped by their own initiative and also just getting aid. She didn't ask for anything in return, but Elisha moved with your kindness and sought a way to present her as well. What may have motivated this woman helping strangers? The verse 9 helps you understand: she describes as a "holy man of God". What Elisha was revealed he was a Saint of God, and that led her to want to do something by the Prophet. Not content to just feed him, but saw that it could go further. That compassion has made to persuade your husband to prepare a place for Elisha rest when pass through the region. She had no idea that Elisha would help more on two occasions. When I extended my arm didn't thinking in exchanges or benefits, and God knew it.

Just as Elisha received the help they need without asking for it, the woman also ended up getting a gift that I wasn't going to be possible: a son. And when actually needed help, was humble and expressed your request to Elisha. In the sincere desire to help, she was more honored. And your detachment becomes even more clear when receives the aid of Elisha with humbleness, prostrate themselves before him in gratitude: did not consider that the Prophet was obliged to help her. Think of help, received double.

Of course getting something in return is not the correct motivation to help someone, but the example of Elisha and shunammite woman leads us to reflect on what prevents us from doing it and if you really do everything in our power.

Help someone without expecting anything in return reveals more of the power of God than just receive aid at the right time.
