Deixar

Leitura bíblica: Gênesis 11.27-12.5

Pela fé Abraão, quando chamado, obedeceu e dirigiu-se a um lugar que mais tarde receberia como herança, embora não soubesse para onde estava indo (Hebreus 11.8).

Imagine a situação daquele homem que acabara de perder seu pai e recebe a ordem de deixar o ambiente conhecido para ir a outro lugar, sem saber qual seria. Será que Abraão teve dúvidas ou sentiu medo? Nada disso é relatado no texto bíblico. Sabemos apenas que ele obedeceu. Sempre li este texto admirando sua fé e coragem. Perguntava-me se agiria como ele se Deus me ordenasse algo semelhante. Aconteceu: eu e meu marido nos mudamos para um lugar desconhecido e bem longe de nossos familiares. Não foi fácil deixar tudo para trás e recomeçar numa terra tão diferente. Hoje leio este texto imaginando se os sentimentos de Abraão foram os mesmos que os meus.

O que importa não é tanto como nos sentimos, mas como agimos quando Deus ordena algo: se obedecemos ou não, se confiamos que sua orientação é a melhor para nós ou se preferimos seguir os nossos planos. Pode até ser que Deus tenha enviado Abraão justamente para onde ele quisesse ir de qualquer maneira. Mas e se Deus ordenar que façamos algo que não queremos ou nos enviar para onde nunca desejamos ir?

Talvez Deus não lhe ordene mudanças de endereço, mas de algumas características suas que atrapalham seu crescimento espiritual. Ele pode desafiar você a lhe entregar toda a sua vida para que ele a dirija (o que muitas vezes faz com que tenhamos de abandonar o que planejamos). Como a vida cristã é baseada na transformação operada pelo Espírito Santo, mudanças são necessárias. A questão não é tanto se queremos mudar, mas se seremos obedientes! Tudo o que planejamos pode ser muito bom, mas não supera o que Deus tem para nós – aqui e, principalmente, na eternidade. Nossa resposta a Deus vai demonstrar se ele é Senhor de nossa vida ou não e se confiamos nele a ponto de deixar nosso conforto para segui-lo.

By faith Abraham, when called, obeyed and went to a place that later would receive as an inheritance, although he didn't know where he was going (Hebrews 11.8).

Imagine the situation that man who had just lost your father and receives the order to leave the environment known to go somewhere else, without knowing what would be. Does Abraham have doubts or scared? None of this is reported in the biblical text. We know only that he obeyed. Always read this text admiring your faith and courage. I wondered if he would act as if God commanded me something similar. Happened: my husband and I moved to an unfamiliar place and well away from our families. It wasn't easy to leave everything behind and start over in a land so different. Today I read this text wondering if the feelings of Abraham were the same as mine.

What matters is not so much how we feel, but how we act when God commands something: If we obey or not, if we are confident that your guidance is the best for us or if we prefer to follow our plans. It may even be that God sent Abraham precisely where he wanted to go anyway. But what if God ordering us to do something we don't want to or send us where ever we want to go?

Maybe God don't you order address changes, but some of its features that hinder your spiritual growth. He can challenge you give your whole life to him the drive (which often causes have to abandon that plan). As the Christian life is based on transformation powered by the Holy Spirit, changes are needed. The question is not so much if we want change, but if we're going to be obedient! Everything we plan can be very good, but just can't get over what God has for us – here and in eternity. Our response to God will demonstrate whether he is Lord of our life or not and if we trust him about to leave our comfort to follow him.
