Também a Sete nasceu um filho, a quem deu o
nome de Enos. Nessa época começou-se a invocar o nome do Senhor (Gênesis 4.26).

Antes de converter-me a
Cristo, lembro de pessoas perguntando a mim e à minha família se críamos em
Deus. A resposta no geral era sempre a mesma: “Claro que sim!” Mas percebo que
havia uma outra ideia por trás dessa pergunta: se de fato tínhamos um
relacionamento com o Senhor. Diante disso, crer apenas não significa estar
realmente próximo de Deus.
Ao ler a história de Adão
e Eva vemos que começaram com Deus, mas logo fizeram uma escolha errada e por
isso já não viviam mais próximos ao seu Criador. Mesmo assim, porém,
reconheciam a sua ajuda, os seus atos. Por exemplo, quando Eva deu à luz o seu
filho Sete, disse: “Deus me concedeu um filho em lugar de Abel, visto que Caim
o matou” (Gênesis 4.25).
Mas parece que só quando o
seu neto Enos nasceu é que se começou a invocar o nome do Senhor. Fico tentando
imaginar o que faziam nesse intervalo da história. Por que não invocaram antes
a Deus?
É bem provável que
contassem para seus outros filhos e netos sobre o Criador e como ele fez todas
as coisas, tanto que Enos sabia exatamente a quem clamar. Mas isso é falar
sobre Deus e não com ele. E só mostra que reconhecer é totalmente diferente de
invocar. De fato, a culpa, o medo e os nossos próprios erros nos silenciam e
nos afastam da verdadeira vida. Mas ao invocarmos o Senhor, vemos que na
verdade só estamos respondendo a um chamado anterior dele.
Foi isso o que Enos fez:
respondeu chamando o Criador, mesmo quando uma geração anterior a ele ficou em
silêncio. Ele ousou crer que Deus o escutaria e lhe responderia.
É como se esse fato da
história nos ensinasse que é bom reconhecer as obras do artista, mas melhor
ainda é falar e andar com ele.

recognize is totally different from invoking. In fact, the guilt, fear and our
own errors in silence and keep us from real life. But when invoked the Lord, we
see that in fact we're just responding to his previous.
That's
what Enso did: responded by calling the creator, even when a generation before
he was silent. He dared to believe that God would listen to him and you'd
answer.
It's
like that fact of history taught us that it's good to recognize the works of
the artist, but even better is to talk and walk with him.
