Disseram uns aos outros: Não estamos agindo certo. Este é um dia
de boas notícias, e não podemos ficar calados. Se esperarmos até o amanhecer,
seremos castigados. Vamos imediatamente contar tudo no palácio do rei (2
Reis 7.9).

A leitura de hoje nos traz uma história do reino de Israel. Os sírios haviam cercado a capital,
Samaria, e o povo já passava fome quando o profeta Eliseu orou e Deus
interveio, fazendo os sírios abandonarem o cerco. Os leprosos de que o texto
fala, haviam sido expulsos da cidade para que não contagiassem a população com
sua doença, como era usual na época. Como não tinham mais nada a perder,
resolveram tentar a sorte rendendo-se aos sírios. Poderia ser uma última chance
– e você já leu o que aconteceu! Foi um salto da morte para a vida.
De repente,
toda a riqueza dos sírios era deles. Entraram nas tendas e comeram, beberam e
pegaram roupas. Poderiam muito bem ter escondido tudo para eles! Mas tomados
por compaixão, decidiram voltar até os muros da cidade e avisar que os sírios
tinham fugido e que no acampamento havia muita comida, bebida, roupas, prata e
ouro disponíveis. O rei creu naquela boa nova. O povo foi até o arraial dos
sírios e usufruiu de tudo.
Esta
passagem me fez lembrar o meu irmão no tempo de criança! Sempre que ganhava
bombons e balas de alguém da família, ele nunca deixava de anunciar a boa nova!
Corria até mim, muito feliz, com aquele sacão cheio de doces, e dividia tudo
comigo! Mesmo depois de velho ele ainda faz isso! A lição deixada pelo meu
irmão e pelos leprosos é a importância de colocar as necessidades da
coletividade acima dos nossos desejos individuais! É preciso amar o próximo,
vivendo em comunidade e apoiando uns aos outros! Devemos anunciar boas novas –
acima de tudo, o amor de Deus! Termino esta reflexão pedindo a Deus que nos
ajude a agir dessa forma, certos de que, fazendo isso, seremos pessoas
melhores, famílias melhores, uma nação melhor!

They said one to another: We are not
doing right. This is a day of good news, and we can not remain silent. If we
wait until morning, we will be punished. We will immediately tell all the
king's palace (2 Kings 7.9).

Today's
reading brings us a story of the kingdom of Israel. The Syrians had surrounded the
capital, Samaria, and the people have starved when the prophet Elisha prayed
and God intervened, causing the Syrians abandon the siege. The lepers that text
speak, had been driven out of town so not to contaminate the population with
their illness, as was usual at the time. Since they had nothing to lose, they
decided to try his luck surrendering the Syrians. It could be a last chance -
and you've read what happened! It was a jump from death to life.
Suddenly all the wealth of the Syrians was
theirs. They entered the tents and ate, drank and took clothes. They might well
have hidden everything for them! But taken out of compassion, decided to return
to the city walls and warn that the Syrians had fled and that the camp was
plenty of food, drink, clothes, silver and gold available. The king believed
that good news. The people went to the camp of the Syrians and enjoyed
everything.
This passage reminded me of my brother in child
time! Whenever earned chocolates and candies from a family member, I never
ceased to proclaim the good news! Ran up to me, very happy with that full of
sweet twitch, and shared everything with me! Even in his old age he still does
it! The lesson for my brother and the lepers is the importance of putting the
community's needs above our individual desires! You must love your neighbor,
living in community and supporting each other! We must preach the gospel -
above all, the love of God! End this reflection by asking God to help us do so,
knowing that by doing this, we will be better people, better families, better
nation!
