desafio

Tu, porém, sê sóbrio em todas as coisas,
suporta as afeições, faze o trabalho de um evangelista, cumpre cabalmente o teu
ministério (2 Timóteo 4.5, ara).

Temos um grande desafio:
imitar Deus no mundo atual. Ser diferentes da maioria. Hoje muitos valorizam
mais as coisas do que a vida humana. É mais comum ver pessoas impacientes do
que tolerantes. Gente que tem muitas posses e está cada vez mais insatisfeita.
Pessoas mais cultas, mas mesmo assim menos sábias. Um mundo de extravagâncias e
exageros, mas de menos fé e piedade. Olhar para um mundo assim causa tristeza,
ficamos decepcionados com a atitude de muita gente. Nessa hora, no lugar do
desânimo com o gênero humano, devemos lembrar que Cristo se entregou por nós a
fim de nos remir dessa maldade. Em um mundo que perdeu seus valores, temos de
renunciar à impiedade e viver de maneira sensata e piedosa, dedicando-nos à
prática das boas obras.
“Quando entrarem na terra
que o Senhor, o seu Deus, lhes dá, não procurem imitar as coisas repugnantes
que as nações de lá praticam” (Deuteronômio 18.9). Frase muito pertinente para
ser usada hoje: não procure imitar as coisas repugnantes que as nações
praticam.
Veja comigo algumas das
características da nossa época que mais nos afetam. O colapso das crenças – há
uma descrença de tudo que se afirmava até agora: autoridades, instituições,
família, governo, igrejas. A busca de novidades exóticas. Necessidade de
chocar, escandalizar, aparecer, rejeitar os padrões. Um estilo individualista,
hedonista e narcisista. Viver em função do prazer, em busca do que é agradável,
olhando mais para si que para o mundo.
Ao viver em um mundo assim,
convém lembrar as duas palavrinhas que Paulo diz a Timóteo: “Tu, porém”. Temos
um grande desafio! É preciso saber como servir a Deus no tempo em que estamos
inseridos! Para isso temos de segui-lo sem nos desviar do seu caminho e viver
de acordo com o que temos aprendido como cidadãos dos céus que aguardam a vinda
de Jesus.

We have a great challenge: to imitate God in today's world. Be different
from the majority. Today many value things more than human life. It is more
common to see people impatient than tolerant. People who have many possessions
and is increasingly dissatisfied. More educated people, but even less wise. A
world of extravagance and exaggerations, but less faith and piety. Looking at a
world so grieved, we were disappointed with the attitude of a lot of people.
This time, instead of discouragement with the human race, we must remember that
Christ gave himself up for us in order to redeem us of this evil. In a world
that has lost its values, we have to renounce ungodliness and live sensibly and
pious, dedicating ourselves to the practice of good works.
"When you enter the land which the Lord, the God your, gives them,
not seek to imitate the disgusting things that Nations there practice"
(Deuteronomy 18.9). Very relevant phrase to be used today: not imitating the
disgusting things that Nations practice.
See me some of the features of our age that affect us most. The collapse
of belief – there is a disbelief of everything you stated so far: authorities,
institutions, family, Government, churches. The search for exotic novelties.
Need to shock, offend, appear, discard the patterns. An individualistic,
hedonist and narcissistic style. Live in the light of pleasure, in search of
what is nice, looking more to themselves than to the world.
To live in such a world, it is appropriate to recall the two little
words that Paul says to Timothy: "but". We have a great challenge.
Need to know how to serve God in time in which we operate. For that we have to
follow him without your dodging way and live according to what we have learnt
as citizens of heaven that await the coming of Jesus.
