Tentações

conquistá-lo, mas você deve dominá-lo” (Gênesis 4.6).

Na mitologia grega, as
sereias eram as filhas do deus Aqueloo e da musa Calíope. Ao competirem com as
musas para ver quem tinha a voz mais harmoniosa e bonita, foram castigadas,
sendo transformadas em monstros com corpo de pássaro ou peixe e cabeça humana.
A única beleza que conservaram foi a linda voz, usada para atormentar os
marinheiros que, enfeitiçados com o seu canto, se atiravam ao mar e se
afogavam. As sereias não poderiam deixar ninguém passar ileso aos seus cânticos
ou então perderiam a vida. Um dia, um guerreiro muito inteligente chamado
Ulisses (ou Odisseu) pediu aos seus companheiros que lhe vedassem os ouvidos com
cera e o amarrassem ao mastro do navio – assim ele poderia ouvir o canto das
sereias sem obedecer a ele. As sereias foram então derrotadas e desapareceram
para sempre.
A tentação tem um poder
que podemos chamar de enfeitiçador. Leva muitos a se atirar no pecado como
aqueles marinheiros que se atiravam no mar para a morte.
Não há mortal que não seja
tentado! Até o próprio Jesus foi tentado. Tentação não é pecado. Pecado é ceder
à tentação, permitir que ela determine seu comportamento. Deus disse a Caim, que
planejava matar seu irmão: “[O pecado] deseja conquistá-lo, mas você deve
dominá-lo” (Gênesis 4.6).
Como podemos resistir à
tentação? Não adianta pedir para ser amarrado a um mastro. A maneira pela qual
o Filho de Deus combateu a tentação foi por meio da mais profunda obediência e
de compromisso com a Palavra de Deus. Obedecer implica conhecer. Conhecer
requer leitura. Leitura é sem dúvida um investimento de tempo. Sem tempo para
estudo da Palavra não haverá possibilidade de vencer a tentação.

In Greek mythology, the sirens were the daughters of the god Achelous
and the muse Calliope. To compete with the Muses to see who had the most
harmonious and beautiful voice, were punished by being transformed into
monsters with the body of a bird or fish and human head. The only beauty that
saved was the beautiful voice, used to torment the sailors who, Bewitched with
the your corner, throwing themselves into the sea and drowned. Mermaids could
not let anyone pass unharmed to their songs or so would lose the life. One day,
a very intelligent warrior called Ulysses (or Odysseus) asked his companions
that you had covered your ears with wax and drool all over the mast of the ship
– so he could hear the singing of the sirens without obeying him. The sirens
were then defeated and disappeared forever.
The temptation has a power called coven-like. Leads many to shoot the
sin as those sailors who throwing themselves into the sea to die.
No mortal who don't be tempted! Even the Jesus was tempted. Temptation
is not sin. Sin is giving in to temptation, allow her to determine your
behavior. God told Cain, who planned to kill your brother: "[Sin] want to
win it, but you must master it" (Genesis 4.6).
How can we resist the temptation? There's no point in asking to be tied
to a pole. The manner in which the Son of God he fought the temptation was
through the deepest obedience and commitment with the word of God. Obey implies
meet. Meet requires reading. Reading is certainly a time investment. Without
time for study of Word there will be no possibility of overcoming temptation.
