Ao estudar a Bíblia,
alguns de nós pensam que Deus é diferente no Antigo e no Novo Testamento.
Aparentemente, no Antigo Testamento Deus manifestava mais a sua ira e a sua
justa punição contra o mau caminho do seu povo e das demais nações. Mas quando
estudamos mais a fundo, encontramos muitas provas de que, mesmo naqueles dias
passados, Deus já manifestava sua bondade para com os homens.
Deus expulsou Adão e Eva
do jardim do Éden, mas foi bondoso e misericordioso ao fazer-lhes roupas
adequadas com a pele de um animal. Deus executou juízo sobre uma geração
completamente depravada e corrupta, mas não exterminou a humanidade, dando a
Noé a tarefa de providenciar um novo começo depois do dilúvio. Deus atendeu às
súplicas dos israelitas, libertando-os da escravidão do Egito. Depois continuou
fiel, dando a terra prometida a Israel apesar da incredulidade do povo. E ainda
poderíamos citar muitos outros exemplos da bondade de Deus.
Por
não conhecê-lo bem, acabamos julgando seu caráter de forma errada. Em vez de
procurar provar a existência de Deus, a Bíblia parte do fato de que ele existe
e apresenta seus atributos. Ele compartilha alguns desses atributos com o ser
humano (como amor, misericórdia, graça, bondade, etc.) por termos sido criados
à sua imagem. Mas há muitas outras características que são exclusivas dele.
Conhecê-las nos dará um conhecimento muito mais amplo e correto a respeito do
Senhor. Por exemplo: sua onipresença, onipotência e onisciência nos tornam
gratos e submissos. Sua transcendência (o fato de ser diferente e independente
da sua criação) nos torna humildes. Ele é também eterno e imutável, e isso nos
dá segurança e consolo, apesar das dificuldades e da nossa própria
insuficiência. Sendo esse o nosso Deus, podemos entregar-nos a ele
constantemente, sabendo também que “o Senhor é bom, um refúgio em tempos de
angústia. Ele protege os que nele confiam” (verso 7).

Estudar
o caráter de Deus nos dará uma visão melhor a seu respeito, mas só a vida com
ele nos fará conhecê-lo efetivamente.

By studying the Bible, some of us think that God is different in the old
and New Testament. Apparently, in the Old Testament God manifested more to your
fury and your just punishment against the bad side of your people and other
Nations. But when we study more thoroughly, we found a lot of evidence that,
even in those days, God already manifested your goodness toward men.
God expelled Adam and Eve from the garden of Eden, but was kind and
merciful to make them appropriate clothing with the skin of an animal. God
executed judgment upon a generation completely depraved and corrupt, but didn't
wipe out mankind, giving Noah the task of providing a fresh start after the
flood. God answered the prayers of the Israelites, freeing them from the
bondage of Egypt. After continued faithful, giving the promised land to Israel
despite the disbelief of the people. And still we could cite many other
examples of the goodness of God.
Because you don't know him well, we end up
judging your character. Instead of looking for proving the existence of God,
the Bible part from the fact that it exists and displays its attributes. He
shares some of these attributes with the human being (such as love, mercy,
grace, kindness, etc.) to have been created in your image. But there are many
other features that are unique to him. Knowing them will give us a much broader
knowledge and correct about Mr. For example: your omnipresence, omnipotence and
omniscience make us grateful and submissive. Its transcendence (the fact of
being different and independent of your creation) makes us humble. It is also
eternal and immutable, and that gives us security and comfort, despite the
difficulties and our own inadequacy. Being that our God, we can deliver to him
constantly, knowing also that "the Lord is good, a refuge in times of
anguish. He protects those who trust in him" (verse 7).

Study on the character of God will give us a
better look to your business, but only life with him will make us meet it
effectively.
