A maioria dos brasileiros
é mestre em deixar tudo para o último momento: estudar para o concurso no
último dia, declarar o imposto de renda na última hora, votar no último minuto
e abrir mão dos seus direitos no último segundo. Isso sem falar nos assuntos
relacionados ao Reino de Deus: querem sempre deixar para os últimos momentos da
vida! Em geral a preocupação humana consiste em resolver as questões pessoais,
enquanto seu relacionamento com Deus vai ficando para depois. O fato é que
muitas pessoas tentam ter uma vida divertida e agradável durante toda a
juventude, imaginando que só quando estiverem bem idosas, próximas da morte,
precisarão buscar e agradar a Deus. Isso é procrastinar! A palavra vem do latim
procrastinare, que é a união de pro (à frente) e crastinus (relativo a amanhã).
Ou seja: “enrolar”.
Vale destacar que
procrastinação é bem diferente de preguiça: enquanto a última é evitar trabalho,
a primeira é, por exemplo, ter muitas tarefas a fazer e deixá-las para a última
hora. A procrastinação está relacionada a uma divergência entre a intenção de
trabalhar e a ação real de trabalho. Podemos dizer que há até mesmo
procrastinadores viciados na sensação de prazo estourando: deixam tudo para a
última hora porque gostam da adrenalina da urgência. O texto de hoje fala de
Neemias, um homem que não procrastinou: em meio à notícia de uma cidade
assolada por grande miséria e desprezo, ele chorou, orou, jejuou (verso 4), mas
também se dispôs e agiu (verso 11). A ação de Neemias foi eficaz, eficiente e
efetiva: em apenas 52 dias, reconstruiu todo o muro de Jerusalém (Neemias
6.15).
Assim como Neemias, precisamos hoje buscar em primeiro lugar o Reino de Deus e a sua justiça, na certeza de que tudo o que necessitarmos será acrescentado (Mateus 6.33).

The majority of Brazilians is a master of leaving everything to the last
minute: study for the contest on the last day, declaring the income tax at the
last minute, vote at the last minute and giving up their rights at the last
second. Not to mention in the affairs related to the Kingdom of God: they
always want to leave to the last moments of life. In general the human concern
is to solve personal issues, while your relationship with God grows. The fact
is that many people try to have a fun and enjoyable life for all youth,
imagining that only when they are well elderly, close to death, will need to
get and please God. It is procrastinating. The word comes from the Latin
procrastinare, which is the Union of pro (in front) and crastinus (for
tomorrow). IE: "curl".
It is worth noting that procrastination is very different from laziness:
while the last is to avoid work, the first is, for example, have many tasks to
do and leave them for the last time. Procrastination is related to a divergence
