Deixo-lhes
a paz; a minha lhes dou. Não a dou como o mundo a dá. Não se turbe o vosso
coração, nem tenham medo (João 14:27).

que você acabou de ler, João relata que os discípulos de Jesus estavam com medo
dos judeus. Seu Mestre tinha sido morto e agora poderia ser a vez deles, por
isso estavam reunidos com as portas trancadas. O medo naturalmente faz com que
as pessoas busquem proteção. Mas Jesus havia dito que ressuscitaria. Uma mulher
viu o túmulo vazio e comunicou o fato aos discípulos (João 20:1-2). Isso pode
ter suscitado a reunião. Além do medo, eles ainda poderiam estar com muitas
dúvidas sobre o que teria acontecido ao corpo de Jesus. É neste momento de medo
e perguntas que Jesus aparece entre eles. Ele cumpria sua promessa de
ressurreição. A primeira coisa que Ele diz é: “Paz seja com vocês”.
O fato que
chama atenção nesta história é que Jesus não os condena. Na hora da prisão dele,
eles fugiram e negaram que o conheciam. Mas Jesus, ao se colocar no meio deles,
não pede explicações nem os motivos do abandono. Ele apenas deseja que tenham
paz. Não aquela tranquilidade de ter sossego na vida, embora esta também seja
importante. Mas a paz que Ele dá é de um tipo que o mundo não pode oferecer: a
paz do perdão. Este está comprovado nos ferimentos dele. Por isso Ele mostra as
mãos e o lado e pode também perdoar os discípulos que o abandonaram na hora
mais difícil.
Desde que a
humanidade desobedeceu a Deus e se rebelou contra Ele, as pessoas procuram por
paz, mas não a encontram fora de Jesus. Elas “se trancam” em si mesmas e em
suas casas, têm medo do que poderá acontecer no futuro e também da morte. Mas é
nesta hora que Jesus vem ao seu encontro, não para condená-las, mas para tirar
o medo e dar paz. Ele oferece seu perdão, um novo relacionamento com Deus e uma

Fear
I leave them peace; I give
them. Do not give as the world gives. Let not your heart be troubled, nor be
afraid (John 14:27).
In the text that you just
read, John recounts that Jesus ' disciples were afraid of the Jews. His master
had been killed and now could be the time of them, so we were meeting with the
doors locked. Naturally fear causes people to seek protection. But Jesus had
said it would raise. A woman saw the empty tomb and communicated the fact to
the disciples (John 20: 1-2). This may have given rise to the meeting. Beyond
the fear, they could still be with many questions about what would have
happened to the body of Jesus. It is at this moment of fear and questions that
Jesus appears among them. He fulfilled his promise of resurrection. The first
thing he says is: "peace be with you".
The fact that draws attention
in this story is that Jesus does not condemn. At the time of his arrest, they
fled and denied that knew him. But Jesus, when you put in the middle of them, does
not ask for explanations nor reasons for the abandonment. He just want to have
peace. Not that quiet of having peace in life, although this is also important.
But the peace that he gives is of a kind that the world cannot offer: the peace
of forgiveness. This is evidenced in his injury. So he shows his hands and side
and can also forgive the disciples who left at the time more difficult.
Since mankind disobeyed God
and rebelled against him, people look for peace, but not outside of Jesus. They
"lock" in themselves and in their homes, afraid of what might happen
in the future and also of death. But it is at this time that Jesus comes to
meet him, not to condemn them, but to take away the fear and give peace. He
offers his forgiveness, a new relationship with God and a new life with him.
