Obedecer

Se de fato vocês obedecerem à lei do Reino encontrada na
Escritura que diz: “Ame o seu próximo como a si mesmo”, estarão agindo
corretamente (Tiago 2.8)

Desde muito cedo, a palavra obedecer me
soava dura. Ouvia na escola os professores dizendo que nós, alunos, éramos
desobedientes, pois não fazíamos as tarefas de casa e desrespeitávamos as
regras da escola. Sentia-me muito mal quando escutava isso. A vida de estudante
era ditada pelas normas da escola.
Já o autor de Eclesiastes teve muitas outras
experiências de vida. Deixou-se levar pelas paixões da juventude, aproveitou o
que havia de melhor em comida e vinho, buscou ser um grande estudioso. Foi um
estadista famoso. E o que ele aprendeu? Que tudo isso é inútil, não passa de
uma corrida atrás do vento (Eclesiastes 1.14).
Aprendemos a viver de modos distintos, o sábio
autor desse livro e eu. Ele aprendeu pela experiência que a única coisa que
traz proveito na vida é o temor do Senhor, por isto ele concluiu seu livro com
as palavras da leitura de hoje. Eu aprendi como estudante que o temor às leis e
aos professores me fazia respeitá-los. Primeiro cumprimos a lei por medo das
consequências, mas depois, quando entendemos que ela foi dada para nos
proteger, compreendemos também o amor de quem a fez.
Pode parecer estranho que algo tão duro como o medo
possa fazer transparecer um sentimento tão doce e puro como o amor. É por isso
que temer não significa apenas ter medo, mas também admirar, respeitar e,
quando se trata de Deus, adorar.
Temos medo do que não conhecemos. Respeitamos quem
tem poder sobre nós. Já a adoração é uma atitude que brota da confiança, da fé.
Deus nos dá a sua lei não com o objetivo de nos limitar e castrar nossa
vontade, mas para nos proteger daquilo que pode fazer mal a nós. Dessa atitude
de amor de Deus para conosco é que nasce a confiança. Queremos obedecer a Deus
não por medo ou obrigação, mas por confiar nele. Ele sabe melhor do que você e
eu o que é bom para nós.

Obedece melhor e de coração aquele que confia, não aquele que tem
medo.

a very early age, the word obey me sounded harsh.
Heard in school the teachers saying that we, students were disobedient, because
we didn't do the homework and we are not respected school rules. I felt very
bad when I heard that. The student life was dictated by the rules of the
school.
Already the author of Ecclesiastes had many other life experiences. Let
yourself go by the passions of youth, took the best in food and wine, sought to
be a great scholar. Was a famous statesman. And what did he learn? All this is
useless, it's just a race behind the wind (Ecclesiastes 1.14).
We learn to live in different ways, the wise author of this book and I.
He learned by experience that the only thing that brings advantage in life is
the fear of the Lord, for this he concluded his book with the words of reading
today. I learned as a student who fear the law and teachers made me respect
them. First we're obeying the law for fear of the consequences, but then, when
we understand that she was given to protect us, we understand also the love of
who made it.
It may seem strange that something as hard as fear can do bring out a
feeling so pure and sweet as love. That's why I fear not only fear, but also
admire, respect and, when it comes to God, love.
We're afraid of what we don't know. We respect those who have power over
us. Already worship is an attitude that sprouts of confidence, faith. God gives
us his law in order to limit and castrate our will, but to protect us from what
can harm us. This attitude of God's love for us is the confidence. We want to
obey God not by fear or obligation, but for trusting him. He knows better than
you what is good for us.

Obey and heart that you trust,
not that you're afraid.
