Fiel a Deus

Eu e a minha família serviremos ao Senhor (Josué 14.15).

Josué fez os israelitas lembrarem-se do que
Deus tinha feito por eles desde que saíram da escravidão no Egito. Guiou-os
através do deserto, ajudou-os nas batalhas, conquistaram a terra prometida e
cada tribo recebeu a sua porção. Eram bênçãos que tinham recebido. Então Josué
chama-os a serem fieis somente a Deus. Nenhum outro deus deveria estar
presente. Meio-termo não seria aceito: ou serviriam os deuses estranhos ou ao
Deus vivo e verdadeiro.
Embora estivessem afastados, Josué em nenhum
momento diz que deixaram de ser o povo de Deus, e como tal deveriam renovar o
pacto e adorar somente a ele. "Joguem fora os deuses estrangeiros" (verso
23) e voltem de coração para o Deus que esteve com vocês e os ajudou na caminhada
até esta terra. E se não quiserem voltar para Deus, escolham a quem vão servir,
pois não podem servir a dois. A decisão seria do povo. Josué não poderia
decidir por eles. Depois de fazer um teste com o povo para saber se eles
estavam mesmo dispostos a serem fieis somente ao Senhor, Josué aceita a sua
resposta positiva.
Deus ainda continua chamando o povo a ser fiel
somente a ele. Em nossos dias há centenas de deuses – tudo o que quer ocupar o
centro da nossa vida em lugar do Deus verdadeiro. Se há algum deles em sua
vida, Deus está chamando você a jogá-lo fora. Nem a família, os amigos ou a
igreja poderão fazer isso. Somente você pode tomar a decisão de ser fiel a
Deus, andar nos seus caminhos e obedecer-lhe. A escolha é sua e de mais
ninguém. Esses deuses que muitas vezes tomam conta da vida do cristão
atrapalham o seu crescimento espiritual e o fazem seguir por caminhos que não
trazem nenhum contentamento. Ajunte a sua família, seja corajoso e diga
"Eu e a minha casa serviremos ao Senhor, o nosso Deus, e lhe
obedeceremos".

Faithful to
God

Joshua
made the Israelites remember what God had done for
them since they came out of slavery in Egypt. Guided them through the desert,
helped them in battle, conquered the promised land and each tribe received its
portion. Were blessings that were received. So Joshua called them to be
faithful only to God. No other god should be present. Compromise would not be
accepted: or would serve the foreign gods or to the true and living God.
While they were away, Joshua in no time says it stopped being the people
of God, and as such should renew the Covenant and worship to him alone.
"Throw away the foreign gods" (verse 23) and back to the God who's
been with you and helped walk this earth. And if you don't want to go back to
God, to choose who will serve, is it can serve two. The decision would be of
the people. Joshua could not decide for them. After doing a test with the
people to know if they were even willing to be faithful to the Lord only,
Joshua accepts your positive response.
God is still calling the people to be faithful to him alone. In our days
there are hundreds of gods – all want to occupy the center of our life in place
of the true God. If there are any of them in your life, God is calling you to
throw it away. Neither the family, friends or church can do that. Only you can
make the decision to be faithful to God, to walk in his ways and obey him. The
choice is yours and no one else. These gods that often take care of the
Christian life hinder your spiritual growth and do follow paths that do not
bring any contentment. Assemble your family, be brave and say "I and my
house, we will serve the Lord, our God, and follow".
