Longanimidade / Longsuffering

Longanimidade Leitura bíblica: Colossenses 3.12-14  _________________ O amor é paciente, o amor é bondoso. Não inveja, não se vangloria, não se orgulha (1 Coríntios 13.4). _________________

A longanimidade é irmã gêmea da paciência, especialmente da paciência com outras pessoas. Trata-se da disposição para suportar insultos e ofensas com serenidade. Não é algo que o ser humano consiga fazer por natureza. Mas é uma qualidade de Deus (Números 14.18). Por isso, quando obedecemos a Deus e seguimos a sua vontade, o Espírito Santo pode produzir esse fruto em nós.

A longanimidade de Deus para conosco é o motivo pelo qual podemos nos aproximar dele. Deus é paciente com o ser humano e lhe dá todas as oportunidades necessárias para que se arrependa de sua rebeldia e se aproxime novamente do Senhor.

Eu tinha 16 anos de idade na época da minha conversão. Percebi então que meu pai não era salvo, que ele não tinha comunhão com Deus. Falei com ele, mas ele argumentou dizendo que eu era jovem e inexperiente, e não podia dar-lhe conselhos. Disse ainda que daí a dez anos poderíamos voltar a falar neste assunto. Marquei a data e comecei a orar diariamente pela reconciliação de meu pai. Faltavam menos de três meses para o prazo se completar e eu fui me preparando para falar com meu pai, quando ele faleceu. Poucos dias antes de morrer, no entanto, ele encontrara o caminho de volta para Deus. Havia se afastado muitos anos antes, mas Deus foi longânimo e não deixou de atender à oração, minha e certamente a de minha mãe.

Sendo paciente, Deus espera de nós frutos da mesma qualidade. Com certeza muitas vezes necessitaremos de paciência com o nosso irmão, com o nosso próximo e no convívio com outras pessoas. Jesus deixou-nos o belo exemplo de sua paciência com Judas, chamando-o de amigo mesmo no momento em que este o traía com um beijo (Mateus 26.49-50). É difícil ter paciência ou ser longânimo? O Espírito Santo está pronto para  ajudá-lo a produzir esse fruto em sua vida.

Quando a paciência estiver acabando, Deus pode renová-la – basta pedir.

The longsuffering is twin sister of patience, especially of patience with others. It is the willingness to endure insults and offenses with serenity. It's not something that a human being can do. But it is a quality of God (numbers 14.18). So when we obey the God and follow his will, the Holy Spirit can produce fruit in us.

The longsuffering of God toward us is the reason we can get near him. God is patient with the human being and gives you all the necessary opportunities to repent of their rebellion and approach the Lord again.

I was 16 years old at the time of my conversion. I realized then that my father wasn't safe, that he had no communion with God. I talked to him, but he argued saying that I was young and inexperienced, and could not give him advice. He also said that the ten years we could speak in this matter. I marked the date and I began to pray daily for the reconciliation of my father. Less than three months were missing for the period is completed and I was getting ready to talk to my father when he passed away. A few days before he died, however, he found the way back to God. There was clear many years before, but God was patient and did not fail to answer to prayer, my and certainly of my mother.

Being patient, God expects us fruits of same quality. I'm sure many times we will need patience with our brother, our next and living with other people. Jesus left us the fine example of your patience with Judas, calling him a friend even at the time that this was cheating on him with a Kiss (Matthew 26.49-50). It's hard to be patient or be patient? The Holy Spirit is ready to help you produce this fruit in your life.
