A libélula

Por isso é que se diz: “Se hoje vocês ouvirem a sua voz, não endureçam o coração, como na rebelião” (Hebreus 3.15).

Num lugar muito bonito, certo dia surgiu um casulo. De dentro saiu uma linda libélula. Ela ficou muito encantada com o que viu ao voar por ali. Encontrou uma casa e entrou pela janela da cozinha. Brincou entre os cristais e explorou cada parte daquele novo mundo. De repente, viu sobre a mesa uma tigela cheia de nuvens. Não resistiu e mergulhou. Descobriu, então, que não eram nuvens: ela foi ficando grudenta e não conseguia mais se soltar.

Desesperada, começou a orar, fazendo todo tipo de promessas, dizendo que dedicaria o resto de seus dias a servir a Deus e ajudar o próximo. Neste momento, o chefe da cozinha viu a libélula, resgatou-a e jogou-a pela janela. Arrastando-se pela grama, sob o sol, a libélula começou a se limpar. Quando se viu livre da sujeira, estava tão cansada que se voltou para Deus e disse: “Prometi dedicar o resto de minha vida ao Senhor, mas no momento estou cansada demais. Amanhã começo a cumprir minha promessa”. E adormeceu. O que ela não sabia é que aquele era seu último dia de vida…

Compromissos assumidos com Deus não são somente para o momento da aflição ou para amanhã. No entanto, é muito comum distrair-se e encantar-se com as belezas à nossa volta. Muitas vezes, curiosos, entramos por algumas janelas sem saber ao certo aonde elas nos levarão. Confundimos armadilhas e prisões com prazer e alegria. Sem perceber, vamos negligenciando nosso relacionamento com Deus. O texto da leitura mostra Deus oferecendo uma escolha ao povo de Israel, que vale também para nós: vida e prosperidade (amando e obedecendo ao Senhor) ou morte e destruição (vivendo por conta própria, escolhendo outras prioridades). Com grande amor e insistência, ele convida: “Agora escolham a vida, para que vocês e os seus filhos vivam… e amem o Senhor” (versos 19-20). Não adie sua resposta: a hora é agora!

A very beautiful place, one day came a cocoon. Inside was a beautiful Dragonfly. She was very delighted with what he saw to fly that way. Found a House and entered through the kitchen window. Discovered that were not clouds: she was getting sticky and couldn't let go.

Desperate, he began to pray, making all kinds of promises, saying he would dedicate the rest of his days serving God and helping others. At this point, the head of the kitchen saw the dragonfly, rescued it and threw it out the window. Crawling through the grass, under the Sun, the Dragonfly began to clear. When he was free of dirt, I was so tired that he turned to God and said: "I promised to devote the rest of my life to the Lord, but at the moment I'm too tired. Tomorrow I'm starting to fulfill my promise ". And fell asleep. What she didn't know was that that was your last day of life.

Commitments to God are not only for the time of distress or for tomorrow. However, it is very common to distract and delight yourself with the beauty around us. Often, curious, we're in for some Windows without knowing exactly where they will take us. We confuse traps and prisons with pleasure and joy. Without realizing it, we're neglecting our relationship with God. The text of the reading shows God offering a choice to the people of Israel, that also applies to us: life and prosperity (loving and obeying the Lord) or death and destruction (living on their own, choosing other priorities). With great love and insistence, he invites: "Now choose life so that you and your children to live ... and love the Lord" (verses 19-20). Don't delay your reply: the time is now!
