Impunidade?

Leitura bíblica: Habacuque 1.1-11

O Senhor é muito paciente, …não deixará impune o pecado (Naum 1.3).

Habacuque viveu lá por 600 a.C., numa época de decadência moral e espiritual em seu país. Isto notamos nas suas palavras iniciais (versos 2-4). Se ele vivesse hoje em nosso meio, talvez descrevesse com as mesmas palavras a mesma condição em nossa pátria, assolada com corrupção, violência urbana e libertinagem sexual, para citar apenas três faces deste declínio. O profeta estava perturbado por não ver Deus agindo para acabar com a injustiça no meio de seu povo. “Até quando, Senhor, clamarei por socorro, sem que tu ouças? Até quando gritarei a ti: Violência! Sem que tragas salvação?” queixava-se a Deus.

Ver o mal dominando a sociedade pode nos perturbar, como perturbou Habacuque. A sensação de impunidade pode incentivar muitos a praticarem o mal. Para outros, ansiosos pela justiça, pode trazer insegurança, pois são tentados a pensar que Deus não se importa e assim afrouxam sua devoção a ele.

Contudo, à luz dos versos 5-11 podemos ter certeza de que Deus virá um dia julgar os ímpios e disciplinar seu próprio povo se não houver arrependimento, como foi no caso de Judá. Para o profeta, Deus parecia estar em silêncio. Apenas parecia, porém, pois preparava um instrumento que anos depois traria seu juízo. Quando ele fala ao profeta, este deve ter ficado chocado com o que ouviu: “Estou trazendo os babilônios, nação cruel e impetuosa”. Deus estava levantando no cenário político internacional a temível Babilônia como sua vara de disciplina contra Judá.

Você está indignado com a impunidade dos poderosos, com a ousadia dos que se dedicam ao crime e com o escárnio da maioria pelas coisas de Deus? Você está indignado com tantas práticas erradas e heresias proliferando nas igrejas? Então aqui algo pode confortar: saber que Deus com certeza julgará os transgressores no dia dele, para assim você mesmo continuar na prática da justiça.

Habakkuk lived there by 600 BC, in a time of moral and spiritual decadence in your country. This notice in its opening words (verses 2-4). If he lived today in our midst, perhaps with the same words to describe the same condition in our country, beset with corruption, urban violence and sexual debauchery, to name just three sides of this decline. The Prophet was upset not to see God acting to end injustice in the midst of your people. "Until when, Lord, I will cry for help, without which you listen to? Even when you scream: Violence. Without that bring salvation? "he complained to God.

View evil dominating society can disturb us, as disturbed Habakkuk. The feeling of impunity may encourage many to practice evil. For others, eager for Justice, can bring insecurity because they are tempted to think that God doesn't care and so loose your devotion to him.

However, in the light of verses 5-11 can we be sure that God will come one day judge the ungodly and to discipline your own people if there is repentance, as was in the case of Judah. For the Prophet, God seemed to be silent. Just looked, however, is preparing an instrument that years later would bring your mind. When he speaks to the Prophet, this must have been shocked by what he heard: "I'm bringing the Babylonians, cruel and impetuous nation". God was raising in the international political scene the fearsome Babylon as your rod of discipline against Judah.

Are you outraged by the impunity of the powerful, with the boldness of those who engage in crime and with the scorn of most the things of God? Are you outraged by so many erroneous and heretical practices proliferating in churches? So here something can comfort: know that God surely will judge the transgressors in his day, so you even continue in the practice of Justice.
